Okay, having finally purchased TCY again, I set down to begin tinkering with the game once more.... when I thought "Hmm... I like the Average Joes Dynasty so much, I'm going to steal that idea."

So, with apologies to P-man, consider the idea stolen and a likewise dynasty introduced.

However! There is a twist on this, in that, the 100th ranked player by rivals.com for each of 5 positions will be selected for watch. No guarantees are going to be made as to what happens beyond the four years, as I don't think any of us know.

This should be fun. Hope you guys enjoy it :)

Without further ado, here is your 2004 Class of The Five 100's!

QB Luther Bunn Sayre Area High School, Sayre, Pennsylvania
Completing 51% of his passes for 1044 yards, 6 TDs, 2 INTs so far in this young season, along with 62 rushes for 418 yards and 4 TDs, Luther is indeed THE main man at Sayre High. With a 3.33 GPA and 1336 SAT score, Mr. Bunn has Academics in his chosen major of Medicine as an extremely crucial priority, Team Prestige of secondary consideration. The college he idolizes? Syracuse, where he longs to be the next Donovan McNabb and to become a doctor after his football playing career is over, whether it's with graduation from college or at some pro level beyond. He's also ranked 9th at his position in terms of his state.

RB Renaldo Theriot Iron County High School Viburnum, Missouri
With 82 rushes for 328 yards and 1 rushing TD and 15 catches for 174 yards and 2 receiving TDs on the books thus far, Renaldo doesn't look to garner any real big attention from anyone at this point. 2.61 GPA and 807 SAT score make for a mediocre student who likes rocks and wants to major in Geology. Staying close to home and team prestige are both equally important to Renaldo, whose ranked 4th in the state at his position.

WR Brent O'Donnell Quabbin Regional High School, Barre, Massachussetts
34 receptions for 714 yards and 6 TDs translates into this guy showing flashes of football talent. Unfortunately he's got a lousy attitude and doesn't care about the books, posting only a 2.20 GPA with an 810 SAT score. Geography is his intended major, with staying as close to him as possible an extremely vital concern of his. Secondary is the team's prestige. Brent is also ranked 2nd at his position in his home state.

ILB Daryl Legette Wayne County High School, Jesup, Georgia
43 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 interceptions into this season for Daryl. Not the best of students with a 2.34 GPA and 898 SAT score, he's another one that intends on majoring in Geology. Team prestige is exceedingly important to him, though he'd prefer to stay home if he possibly could. Viewed as 3rd in the state at his position.

CB Donnie Lane Lyndon Institute High School, Lyndon Center, Vermont
Used primarily as a blitzer in the early going, to date he has 21 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and just 1 interception. Donnie is a brilliant student, with a 3.73 GPA and 1403 SAT score. He dreams of one day opening up his Accounting firm after football and has Academics and staying close to home both of equal importance. He's not only rated as the #1 player in his position in the state of Vermont, but he's viewed as the #1 prospect in Vermont, period.

Good luck! You may get some of the same results I have, since most of my guys are around 100th in their positions, though I think one guy is 80th.

Thanks Peregrine :) Yeah I imagine our results will be somewhat similiar, but it's worth a shot anyway. I just realized, looking back over your dynasty, that Hoedemaker is the one who was ranked 80th, which stands to reason, given his dominance on the field over the others.

Week 2 of the 2004 Season

QB Luther Bunn
Coming out of the gate with contacts are Army, Eastern Michigan, and Kent State. Given Luther's emphasis on Academics however, it looks as though Kent State and Eastern Michigan both get blown out of the water by Army, who has an 88 rating in Medicine. No call from Syracuse, however. A great game by Luther last week with 5 TDs to 1 INT. Since I didn't mention it before, his high school football program is rated as rather low in quality (30) but the academic rigours of his high school are famous for their excellence (83).
Predicted Inside Track:Army

RB Renaldo Theriot
Surprisingly, he gets a nibble, likely after his 120 yard, 2 TD performance last Friday as Central Michigan rings him up. His school's football team is okay (43) but the academics of the place are pretty bad (23), so he may have trouble adjusting to college classrooms.
Predicted Inside Track: Central Michigan (obviously)

WR Brent O'Donnell
Maybe it's his lousy attitude, or maybe it's that he didn't score any TDs despite having 150+ receiving yards in his team's last game. Or perhaps it's the utter indifference of his high school to academics (5!), but either way, nobody comes calling. The high school he goes to is a real football powerhouse though, with 79 preparation rating. Guess the school district is more concerned with sports titles than education.

ILB Daryl Legette
A 10+ tackle and 0.5 sack game later, and Daryl has Akron and Buffalo taking a gander at him. Akron is just barely better than Buffalo in prestige and is roughly 140 miles closer to home than Buffalo, so they have to get the initial nod. I thoroughly expect other schools to come calling, though, despite the suckiness of the football team (4) and the lackluster academic prep quality of his high school (32).
Predicted Inside Track:Akron

CB Donnie Lane
With 2 INTs in his last game, Donnie has to be considered a hot commodity, and lo and behold, it's proven at least somewhat true, as the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers jump into the fray with an immediate contact *and* the very first scholarship offer out of all our players! Donnie's smarts are too much for Rutgers to pass up, and the quality of their Accounting program (64) coupled with their relatively close distance of 312 miles, means that it might well be tough for another school to surpass Rutgers. The hunch here is that he'll become a Scarlet Knight. With a 22 rating, his high school team doesn't do so hot a job of preparing its players for college, but the school itself is one of the very best in the country academically speaking, with a 91! No wonder he got offered that scholarship right off the bat.
Predicted Inside Track:Rutgers

Week 3, 2004

QB Luther Bunn
No change in terms of contacts here, though considering he had a rather poor outing last Friday, dropping him to an abysmal 49.7% completion percentage with 1 TD and 1 pick, it's not too surprising.
Predicted Inside Track:Army

RB Renaldo Theriot
A phenomenal game of 200+ yards rushing and 3 TDs translates into Central Michigan getting some competition here, as Ball State and Memphis inquire about his services. Given that Memphis has the other two schools drastically beat in terms of distance and that they hold a 4 point advantage over the other two in terms of prestige, we've got a new leader.
Predicted Inside Track:Memphis

WR Brent O'Donnell
I think there's an element of karma at work here, as surly Brent still has not even so much as a call, and still hasn't scored a TD since the 4th game of the season. On the plus side, he's now over 1,000 yards receiving.

ILB Daryl Legette
Still Akron and Buffalo are the only two schools that have contacted him, though he had a decent game Friday with 7 tackles and another interception. It's fully expected that he'll at least get a look from more schools.
Predicted Inside Track:Akron

CB Donnie Lane
I have to say, I'm a little surprised that both Bunn and Lane have gone without any more contacts or offers, while Theriot has been getting more attention. Still, such is the case, as Rutgers is still holding out their scholarship offer to Donnie, who picked up another sack and another interception his last game out.
Predicted Inside Track:Rutgers

Week 4, 2004

QB Luther Bunn
Luther's accuracy continues to take a nosedive, though his passing yardage and TD counts from last game were good enough to have Western Michigan giving him a look, or maybe it was that Eastern Michigan showed interested and West simply wanted to have a shot at showing up East in this recruiting war. Rumour has it that Luther is rather depressed about not hearing from Syracuse yet, which may account for his erratic passing lately.
Predicted Inside Track:Army

RB Renaldo Theriot
130 yards and a TD from Friday night and Kansas of all teams rings him up. Curiously enough though, Memphis has a better prestige team than Kansas, and is also closer, so Memphis retains its lead.
Predicted Inside Track:Memphis

WR Brent O'Donnell
If he didn't have such a pisspoor attitude, I'd feel sorry for the fact that the defense keyed in on Brent last game and limited him to only 30 receiving yards and no TDs. To make matters worse, there's still no schools that have shown any interest in him at all. Will he end up walking on somewhere?

ILB Daryl Legette
No change here in terms of contacts or offers, though he did have an 11 tackle game on Friday. I'm beginning to wonder when we'll see scholarship offers for anyone but Lane.
Predicted Inside Track:Akron

CB Donnie Lane
Donnie had mostly a tackling affair last game, with 7 tackles and naught else. My hunch that he's going to be a Scarlet Knight looks like it's going to be proven right after all, since there's still been no other contacts or offers, and Rutgers remains the lone school to offer a scholly to any of our players.
Predicted Inside Track:Rutgers

Week 5, 2004

QB Luther Bunn
On the bright side, his accuracy is up and he hit another TD. On the down side, he got limited yardage. Oh, and since I've been forgetting to keep track of his rushing totals, I'll just say that he's scored another rushing TD at some point and is now at approximately 700 yards rushing with a game to go. Also on the minus side, no new contacts and no offers yet.
Predicted Inside Track:Army

RB Renaldo Theriot
Another rushing TD and approximately 100 yards on the ground. No new contacts and no offers, same as Luther. Since I've been neglecting to keep track of his receiving stats, I'll just note here that he's over 400 yards receiving and has 5 receiving TDs.
Predicted Inside Track:Memphis

WR Brent O'Donnell
I'm more and more convinced that karma's affecting Brent for his bad attitude. Nobody is showing him any love and he's continuing to get shut down in the receiving game, both in terms of yardage and touchdowns, which he once again was shut out of.

ILB Daryl Legette
Just 6 tackles during his school's most recent game, with no sacks or INTs to speak of. Zilch too, is the number of new contacts and offers he's received. Will Donnie be the only one who gets a scholarship?
Predicted Inside Track:Akron

CB Donnie Lane
Another INT and another half sack, plus a few tackles make for a good game by Donnie, who still has that offer by Rutgers sitting on the table. It seems as though he's holding out to see if he garners more attention from other schools, as he still hasn't gone to visit the campus. That doesn't change my firm belief that he'll end up a Scarlet Knight, however.

Week 6, 2004

QB Luther Bunn
Things are starting to heat up in the Bunn race as two new schools rush in with contacts, albeit no offers: Cincinnati and Louisiana-Monroe. Neither one look to be able to knock Army off the lead, however.
Final Stat Line: 9 GP 153-316 48.4% 2092 yards 15 TD 7 Int 795 rush yds 5 TD
Predicted Inside Track:Army

RB Renaldo Theriot
No changes here in terms of offers or contacts. Still, Renaldo finished with a pretty nice high school season, even if I do think he isn't going to accomplish much at the college level.
Final State Line: 9 GP 217 rushes 1043 yds 4.8 ypc 10 TD 550 rec yds 6 TD
Predicted Inside Track:Memphis

WR Brent O'Donnell
Our very first All-State player! Despite the award love, Brent still gets no love from any schools. Rumour has it that at the awards banquet, he dumped his water on a girl for rejecting his advances. I'm honestly a little surprised that he was All-State, given that he didn't get a single receiving TD for virtually all of the second half of the season.
Final Stat Line: 9 GP 60 rec 1226 yards 20.4 ypc 6 TD

ILB Daryl Legette
Daryl too, manages to garner an All-State award, which has another school dialing him up in the form of Troy State. Given that this is the highest prestige and closest school yet to call him, we've got a new projected leader.
Final Stat Line: 9 GP 93 tackles 2.5 sacks 4 Int
Predicted Inside Track:Troy State

CB Donnie Lane
3 out of our 5 players are All-State, as Donnie gets the expected nod at the award. Curious to note is that even in spite of that accolade, Rutgers still remains patiently waiting with their scholarship offer still out there... alone. No other schools so much as even sniff at him.
Final Stat Line: 9 GP 40 tackles 5.0 sacks 6 Int

Week 7, 2004

QB Luther Bunn
At last! We have our first offer for somebody other than Donnie! Yes, that's right, Luther finally has a scholarship offer... from Louisiana-Monroe. Change in leader, you say? Not really. ULM has a horrible Medicine program (18) so it's likely Luther's going to wait and see what other offers come in before deciding. Notice you will that he hasn't visited yet.
Predicted Inside Track:Army

RB Renaldo Theriot
The offers are starting to pour in now for our players. Perhaps Week 7 is a pivotal week? In any case, Central Michigan has stepped up to the plate with a scholarship offer. Unlike in the case of Luther though, I'm not so certain other schools will be willing to give Renaldo a gander, so I'll cede the lead here, though my hunch is still for Memphis.
Predicted Inside Track:Central Michigan which will switch immediately to Memphis if the Tigers offer

WR Brent O'Donnell
Nothing. Still absolutely nothing for Brent. This karma thing backlashing against him is starting to get a little ridiculous. I don't want to have to hunt for him in the walkons of every single damn team. Somebody throw a flyer at him!

ILB Daryl Legette
Troy State has made a baby step forward in terms of advancement, offering Daryl to come and visit the campus, though no scholarship offer is forthcoming as of yet.
Predicted Inside Track:Troy State

CB Donnie Lane
Surprisingly enough, there's absolutely no change here. It's still just faithful Rutgers holding on to the hope that Donnie will come play for them. The way this is going, I'm going to be really pissed if he doesn't join the Scarlet Knights. Not only did I predict it way back in Week 1, I hate to see this loyal a school get spurned at the last minute.

Week 8, 2004

QB Luther Bunn
Surprise, surprise. He's visiting ULM. Honestly, I expect that he's going to hate the campus. In no way, shape or form, should he join Louisiana-Monroe. It's going to ruin his chances of getting into a good med school if he goes. So saying, I stubbornly refuse to change my mind, even though he'll probably end up there.
Predicted Inside Track:Mind says Louisiana-Monroe, Heart says Army

RB Renaldo Theriot
A lot of top running backs have committed to schools now, so maybe in the next few weeks we'll see a deluge of offers come Renaldo's way. For now, all is quiet on the Theriot front, save for the fact that he's visiting Central Michigan.
Predicted Inside Track: Central Michigan with the Memphis caveat

WR Brent O'Donnell
Argh! Still no love from anyone! However, much as is the case with Renaldo, a lot of the top players at the position have committed, so maybe, hopefully, there'll be a trickledown effect that will get Brent some action.

ILB Daryl Legette
And the scholarship offer finally comes through from Troy after he agrees to visit their campus! I have a really good feel about seeing Daryl in a Trojans uniform. Akron and Buffalo just sat on their asses all those weeks, and then along came Troy State with a serious plan in mind for recruiting him. Plus, it's got the best of the three schools in both areas he's concerned with.
Predicted Inside Track:Troy State

CB Donnie Lane
Finally Donnie's consented to go visit Rutgers. I still find it puzzling that no other school has even so much as contacted him, but hey if it puts him in a Scarlet Knights uniform, I'm all for it.

Week 9, 2004

QB Luther Bunn
Yes! Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes!!!! My stubborn refusal to let Army go from the Predicted Inside Track has been proven the correct path! Army's offered a scholarship and Luther is visiting the campus so fast Louisiana-Monroe's head is spinning. While Luther's dream school of Syracuse seems but a distant memory, Army really is the perfect fit for him in terms of academics and atmosphere.
Predicted Inside Track:Army God damn, do I love when I'm validated

RB Renaldo Theriot
A new contact this week as South Florida comes calling. If they make a scholarship offer, it'll be interesting to see who he'd go to, given that Central Michigan has the edge in distance, but South Florida has the higher prestige. Be that as it may, it's still Central Michigan whose the only one that's shown him scholarship offer love.
Predicted Inside Track:Central Michigan w/Memphis caveat

WR Brent O'Donnell
Hallejuah! I'm even more excited by this news than I am the Army offer to Luther, I think. Louisana Tech, a whopping 1,329 miles away, has offered a scholarship sight unseen to Brent. They must either be desparate, or not know of his attitude problems. Either way, he's visiting the campus, though he's really unhappy with it being so far from home, as he's really wanted to stay close to his hometown.
Predicted Inside Track:Louisiana Tech, though if a closer school comes calling, LT loses out

ILB Daryl Legette
... Bethel, one of the schools in the Alaska Soleseismic 8, has tossed a scholarship offer Daryl's way. While he's visiting them, I have a hunch it's more out of politeness than anything else. Nobody's going to take him away from Troy State. I have spoken.
Predicted Inside Track:Troy State

CB Donnie Lane
Well, well, well. Guess who comes to woo Donnie other than... Troy State. I wouldn't look for Daryl and Donnie to become teammates however, as Troy's Accounting program is among the absolute worst in the country (7) and it's over a thousand miles from home. Still, Donnie's so glad to get attention from another school that he's visiting Troy.

Week 10, 2004

QB Luther Bunn
It's official! Luther Bunn is our very first committment as despite speculation that he would accept ULM's offer, Recruiting 100 Magazine's Editor in Chief Tim Moungey's predictions were proven true as the talented QB signs on with Army. Luther had this to say at a press conference held in his high school gymnasium, "Really what I wanted was a situation where I could both play football and most importantly attain my dream of going to a top-notch school in my major. Army gives me the best of both worlds, and it's my hope that I can help lead the Black Knights to the next level of success over the next four years."
Committed:Army

RB Renaldo Theriot
The action is suddenly hotter and heavier than a Paris Hilton video on Renaldo, as Ball State, Kansas, and Memphis all wake up and offer him scholarships when they realize that he's in danger of running off to become a Chippewa. Given that all these schools have kept in contact with him, Renaldo is visiting all three. UNLV comes along and offers a visit, but no scholarship, and the running back is mulling over whether to use one of his official visits there. Though the Running Rebels provide the highest prestige thus far, (70), their distance of 1300+ miles means the feeling here is to stick with the Memphis caveat I've expressed all along.
Predicted Inside Track:Memphis

WR Brent O'Donnell
Louisiana Tech is still the only school to show any kind of affection towards Brent, so it looks he may very well sign on with them. The caveat still holds true though, that if a closer school extends an offer, they'll nab him.
Predicted Inside Track:Louisiana Tech, but a closer school will get him if they offer

ILB Dary Legette
Some interesting changes here as Buffalo drops out of the Legette race, but there's a new suitor in the form of Eastern Michigan. They've only contacted him though, and as far as I'm concerned, the Eagles don't have a prayer of landing him. He's going to be a Trojan. Mark it here.
Predicted Inside Track:Troy State

CB Donnie Lane
Committment #2 of the Five 100s comes in the form of, as expected ever since the very first week of the season by Tim Moungey, Donnie Lane inking on with Rutgers. In an interview held in his home, Donnie commented, "Rutgers will be a good fit for me. They've got a good Accounting program and it's still close enough to home that my family and friends will have the chance to maybe watch me in a few games." There was something wistful about the young man's smile, though, as he's no doubt affected by the lack of attention from other schools.

RB Renaldo Theriot
Shockwaves were sent around the offices of Recruiting 100 Magazine this week when it was revealed that Renaldo's fifth visit was not in fact UNLV at all, but rather the home-state school of Missouri, who has offered a scholarship. The most prestigious school out of all the Featured Five's offers thus far, and even closer to home than Memphis, the factors combine to make Mizzou the prohibitive favourite. Oh yes, there's also a high school teammate's of Renaldo's already on Missouri's roster. The Memphis coaches have to be fuming right now. Wow, just wow.
Predicted Inside Track: Missouri

WR Brent O'Donnell
Some desperate schools come rushing in to Brent as their other options fall through, more specifically Cincinnati, who drops a scholarship offer at his door, and West Virginia, whose invited him to come and visit. While Cincinnati is listed as the forerunner by most, my hunch is that West Virginia, which is roughly 250 miles closer to home than Cincy and which has a prestige of 76, topping Missouri by a single point, will be the winner as I'm pretty certain they'll extend a scholarship offer. He'll be a Mountaineer.
Predicted Inside Track: West Virginia if they offer, otherwise Cincinnati

ILB Daryl Legette
More shocking news, this time in the form of Troy State's and Bethel's both revoking their scholarship offers. According to other media sources, Daryl was arrested this last week on charges of breaking and entering a liquor store, making off with three bottles of Hypnotiq. As such, only Akron and Eastern Michigan remain with any interest in the young man, and then only at the contact level. A sad, sad, sad story.

I'm counting the Legette thing as a failed prediction, because I was absolutely certain he'd end up a Trojan. Man, was I shocked to see that change in screen. Makes for good roleplay elements though :)

RB Renaldo Theriot
Poor Central Michigan, whose been after Renaldo essentially from Day One, has been knocked off his list, leaving Ball State, Kansas, Memphis, and Missouri in the running for his services. He'll end up playing for Mizzou. It's a personal guarantee.
Predicted Inside Track:Missouri

WR Brent O'Donnell
The bad boy WR who it was thought wasn't going to receive much attention is suddenly flush with offers, so many so that he's cut them down to his five official visits of Cincinnati, Louisiana Tech, and West Virginia, the latter school finally having made a scholarship offer, and newcomers Auburn and North Carolina State, both intriguing schools by virtue of their Excellent prestige rating (85 and 80 respectively). All five schools dangle scholarships and while many sportswriters are arguing that based on a combination of Distance and Prestige, North Carolina State will win his services, I stick to my hunch that he'll end up at West Virginia, simply because it's still a high prestige athletic school, and it's the closest of them all to home, which is Brent's most important criterion.
Predicted Inside Track:West Virginia

ILB Daryl Legette
After Daryl's arrest for breaking into a liquor store and stealing booze, even Akron and Eastern Michigan have dropped interest in him, and Akron was the first school to contact him. It's a tragic story for this talented young man, but hope has arrived in the form of none other than Memphis, whose offering a scholarship. Daryl is quick to visit, and since there's likely not to be any offers, he'll probably sign on. Legette and Theriot teammates you say? If not, for Missouri, then yes... but because of Mizzou, no, though it would be exciting to see them both at the same school.

The player happily commented in an interview with Recruiting 100 Magazine, "More than anything, I wanted to stay local at a very prestigious school. Playing for Mizzou will give me that opportunity. Go Tigers!"
Committed:Missouri

WR Brent O'Donnell
It was learned this week that Brent has narrowed his choices down to three schools: Louisiana Tech, North Carolina State, and West Virginia. It's split about 50/50 amongst the courts of journalistic and public opinion whether he'll end up at more prestigious North Carolina State or closer West Virginia, but I'm sticking to my belief of West Virginia.
Predicted Inside Track:West Virginia

ILB Daryl Legette
The saga of Daryl Legette continues as he inexplicably still has not committed to Memphis, despite their being the only offer on the table after his arrest. Reports abound that he is hoping for a more prestigious school to make an eleventh hour offer, even though Memphis is of higher prestige than any other school to have made an offer to him until this point, including what was once a foregone conclusion in Troy State. Rejection of his saviours seems foolish in my eyes.

Predicted Inside Track:West Virginia

ILB Daryl Legette
Unlike Brent, Daryl has quite a few fellow uncommitteds at his position, but what's worthy of note here is that the waiting game proves to have been a smart move on Legette's part as no less than *three* higher prestige schools have come calling with scholarship offers: Arkansas, Minnesota, and Virginia, all of whom he's visiting. Virginia and Arkansas are tied for the prestige rating at 79, so the hunch here is that he'll end up in Virginia, which is approximately 300 miles closer than Arkansas. The saga of Daryl, from his anticipated signing on with Troy State to his arrest for breaking into a liquor store and stealing alcohol from it and the subsequent dropping of interest in schools all the way back to his resurgence of being courted by programs in spite of his newly minted criminal record, now takes another dramatic turn. Predicted by me and just about every other prognosticator to go to Virginia, he spurns the Cavaliers and instead signs up with... the Razorbacks of Arkansas.
