View Full Version : NFL Week 4 Thoughts
The Lions get the week off.... so I'll be following the CLE/WAS and CIN/PIT, as both should be pretty decent....

Is there a compelling game at 1pm today? The Birds play at 4. I'll probably play Rome: Total War until then.

Colts get a big stop on 4 & 1 at their 30. Jax moved the ball fairly well however.

Colts just knifed through Jax, Stokely had 3 catches, Manning 5-5 with 63yds and TD to Harrison.

IND/JAX is actually a pretty good game. JAX has missed multiple opportunities, but have been pretty effective at slowing down Manning. Stokely is apparently Manning's reciever of the day.

and after the TD pass, Favre is out of the game again. I'm thinking it was a concussion.
So again
1. Concussion
2. Comes back in for one play (35 yard TD pass)
3. Back on the sideling (Pederson in the game).
Is anyone watching the GB/NYG game? Have they not said anything about the injury yet?

Favre has his helmet back on on the sideline but we'll see.
cthomer5000
10-03-2004, 02:14 PM
Word now is that Favre went back onto the field without clearance (which makes sense if you see the replay of a visibly puzzled Pederson being pulled out of the huddle by Favre). His return was a 28 yard TD pass, and he's been back on the sideline since.
THe official word is that "his return will be evaluated on a posession by posession basis." Looks like a concussion, and I don't think he'll be back in the game.

Nice INT by the D.Clark, the ref also screwed JAX out of 25 yards on the return.

Wow. What a whole pile of the goofy on that play in BUF/NE
3-7 at the NE 23 Brady's pass was thrown to Givens who had it for a brief moment but had the ball pulled out of his hands. Buffalo recovered the "fumble" and took it back to the NE 2 where it was knocked out of his hands and out of the endzone, where it would be 1st and 10 Pats at the 20 (a touchback). Buffalo then CHALLENGES their own interception, and they get the play reversed to an incompletion so it's 4th and 7 and not 1st and 10 :D

It was ruled incomplete, now being challanged.

General Mike,
If you come across this, are you still angry about the Giants dropping Collins and drafting Manning? I realize he hasn't done anything yet, but I thought from day 1 that Warner would be no worst than Collins... you can't argue with 3-1 right now.
I'm not so mad about drafting Manning, I have more of a problem with them giving up way too much to get Manning. There are other things I have a bigger problem with on this team now then the difference between Warner and Collins, like the lack of a backup RB, the lack of a MLB, and the lack of a place kicker.
The Giants are probably slightly better then Washington, behind Philly and I'm not really sure how they match up with Dallas. I think they have a good shot at the playoffs, but they have to win the games they are supposed to win.

2. Comes back in for one play (35 yard TD pass)
3. Back on the sideling (Pederson in the game).
Do I need to give another reason why I love Farve? Only he could pull something like that :D.
Got to see IND/JAX, ATL/CAR today (oh and some of the STL/SF, but well, you know). Jacksonville, even though they lost looked VERY solid. That defense looks very good and Leftwich had a great game. Taylor? Not so much.
And for all those whining about Duckett, did you see that last drive? ;) That's what Duckett can bring. He gets better as he gets more and more carries. It was great to see him running over people. Maybe that can drive his stock up so someone like Miami deals their 1st round pick this year or something for him (they are that dumb... you never know) ;).

is held out of the rest of the game

I don't think they can win without Vick. Yes the defense is good now but I suspect they will not maintain this pace. They'll be good but not #1 or #2 good over the season.
To make some noise will require Vick and the offense to make some strides and really improve on what they are doing. Vick can do it; I'm not so sure Schaub can. Also, the fact the defenses have to account for Vick and waste time spying or scheming helps.
There's something intangible about having him out there. Look at 2 years ago.

I guess I am still somewhat skeptical. If Vick is out, you can put 8 and 9 in the box and not worry about him beating you to the outside. I am probably wrong, but the dimension he adds of just scaring people is enough to make your run game open up.
