View Full Version : MIZ-ZOU: A TCY Dynasty (v1.3)

This is my very first TCY dynasty and honestly I haven't played TCY near as much as FOF, OOTP, FBCB, and other text sims.

A special thanks to Fido for creating TCY helper and TCY viewer, without helper I don't think I could get through a season of TCY. :)

The 2004 Missouri Tigers are back in action with new head coach, MizzouRah and two new coordinators, Ardent Enthusiast (OC) and Blade6119 (DC). The fans are optimistic as their dreams of a Big 12 north title fade away as each year passes on.

With a new coach, come new expectations, but MizzouRah is very inexperienced, so it's going to take some time to adapt in the Big 12. The Big 12 is very intimidating for any coach, let alone a rookie. Join us as we follow along with the Missouri Tigers as they try for the ultimate goal of National Champions.

"Fight, Tigers, fight for Old Mizzou,

Right behind you, everyone is with you,

Break the line and follow down the field,

And you'll be, on the top, upon the top;

Fight, Tigers, you will always win,

Proudly keep the colors flying skyward,

In the end we'll win the victory,

So Tigers, fight for Old Mizzou!"

Ardent's the OC and you can be the DC, Blade. I'll oversee the team and step in when I need to. :)

Let me know what you guys would like this team to run, play wise. I'll have the roster up as soon as I enter the time allotments from TCY helper.

Peregrine - Someone has to have a copy of v3.2, at least I would think. I wish I had the install copy to send you as it works just fine with TCY 1.3. Have you tried posting a message?

Id have to ask the same question as ardent, though it looks like S is pretty deep, so i might need a coaches reccomendation on which players are best in certain skills. A 3-3-5 would be the best fit, but a 4-3 would be more realistic against our conference slate. Ill go more in depth on our defense in a moment

I like the feedback I'm getting from both of you.

First, I need to redshirt some players and repost the offense and then the defense.

I like using a single back set and a 4-3 if we can agree.

I hope you guys like my redshirt designations, if not we'll discuss them. I know this first year will be sort of a "feeling around" year as we get used to this team and where we want to go in the future.

Here is the roster after a few revisions, offense first then defense.

Agreed, though i have to ask if any of our safeties are good enough in run support to step in at ILB or other OLB spot besides Banks...if we run a 4-3, wally battle should not start. Could steinmetz possibly step up into the spot? He shows a lot of potential to ride the bench

Coaches, get going on your respective rosters and I'll get plugging away at time allocations set forth with some help from TCY Helper. This is going to take me some time, but I've alreay started on it.

We'll be using a single back offense and a 4-3 defense. Let me know what you guys would like to see recruiting wise as well. I already like the feeling I have with you two coaches by my side. :)

DE: Windred Anderson is the anchor of our D-line. One of our two Defensive Captains, but when it comes down to both sides he is just the back-up captain to Eugene banks at OLB. Kenny Richardson starts opposite anderson, and together they will be counted on to get pressure upon the QB. Both are redshirt seniors. Tyrus Rose will back both up and give a nice change of pace late in games. Tyrus will be key in next years line-up. Al Stone and Lamont Del Greco will redhirt, and look promising for walk ons.

DT: Redshrit Senior Harvey Daehnke will try to hold the middle with the help of Nathan Baxter, another RS Senior. Baxter is viewed as the weak point of the line, and rightfully so with his shortness of talent and his undersized body. Carlos Logan and Ron Johnson will provide depth this year while training to be the future starters.

ILB: Wally battle is currently the best player we have in the middle, but thats not saying much. The junior played average in last years game. Certainly a position that will look to for someone to step up and show something. that something could come from Wally's little brother Rueben, who has shown talent in practice while leading the scout team last year. Fellow soph Burt Danner will also look for playing time, and we will likely see all 3 recieving playing time until one steps up above the others. Herb pearson will redshirt, but is behind other young players and may sit for the next 2 years after this.

OLB: Eugene Banks is the leader of the linebackers, and a leader of the team. He will be counted on to cover the run and help in the pass, and he is a canidate for All Big-12 honors. Leonard Myers will likely start at the other side, but many other players will push hm for time. Tommy Holmes is a player to watch for the future.

CB: Wesley Stephenson was brought in last year as an unheralded recruit from Warrenton, MO, andall he did was earn a starting job and display a great awareness on the field. A player the tigers wll count on for the next three years to man the secondary. Blaine Hopkins went into last year as the #4, and worked his way past two seniors to be starting by the end of the season opposite Stephenson. Blaine is the one people will pick on most of the season, but the big 12 north is a run division so it may not be apparent as often. He will have to be sure to not give up the big plays. Average play will do from him, as we think the rest of the secondary can hold down the pass pretty well. Patterson is and will always be a depth player, while moss and sheckton will look to play well in the future. Scheckton will only play on the dime formation, with Moss redshirting this year.

S: The strength of the Mizzou defense depth wise, many players here could play at most schools in the country. Lester Diaz might be the most talented kid in the secondary, but he will reshirt along with another promising junior in Toby Stinemetz. Coaches hope both will be ready to start next year. Vince Sampson will start at one safety spot, while fellow senior C.J. Jongeling will start opposite him for now. Both players will feel the heat from Earnest Collins, who is on almost the same talent level.

Defensive outlook: We have 3 solid D-lineman, 1 stud LB, and a pretty solid secondary. Position changes might not be needed as previously thought due to redshirts. This squad could be a strong unit, but it will require a few role-players to step up and make contributions.

Blade6119

Defensive Recruiting outlook:

DE: Stone is a future starter we hope, while Del greco could potentially be, but an off the bench player is more likely. Losing both starters, coupled with Rose being gone in 2 years, I think two guys here wouldnt be a bad idea. Based on talent, one would do, but it would require two the following class(which doesnt bother me)

DT: Logan and johnson are both furture starters(in hope of course), but losing both starters again will require recruits. One wont do it here, i firmly believe we need two guys here.

ILB: Rueben and Herb look like All Big 12 perfermors when they get older, while Wally and Burt do not...Not a need this year, unless a real talent is in-state hat we have a realistic shot at.

OLB: Holmes look like a future starter, but the other underclassmen dont impress. Losing two starters this is a spot i would like 1 guy at. A guy who can strectch the field would be ideal.

CB: Stephenson and hopkins start for now, and the back-ups are young. Not a need unless a a real talent comes instate again, Same as ILB basically.

S: Our two redshirts will be studs next year, but we lose a few seniors and this will be a key area of recruitment. In two seasons we will have 0 safeties, further increasing the need this year. Ball hawk or run stuffer, as both could help in our current 4-3 system

TA have been set for the players and we have 9 scholarships remaning for next year.

Once my OC lays out the offense and whom I need to focus on recruiting wise, the season can kickoff and we can prepare for our home opener against Arkansas St.

All eyes will be on us as we take to the field for the first time this year.

I don't want to leave the office because I want to make sure everything is covered for our first game. The team has mixed feelings with this new coaching staff and I don't blame them.

I can hear the media now if we don't come out with a victory in our home opener against a team who's rated #118 to start the season.

An attitude like this carries over to the team and I like that.

Get some sleep coaches and we'll worry about ARK ST. tomorrow.

AE, leave that offensive report on my desk and I'll get a jumpstart on recruiting. I want to start out in Missouri and Illinios ASAP.

It's going to be a long road, but the pace will pick up once the season is underway. This is the "show me" state, and we're about to show Missouri and the Big 12 why we were hired. ;)

QB

Lachance gives us our best "chance". I noticed you want to redshirt our two freshmen. That's fine, but we defintely need to do some recruiting here. I wouldn't mind one of the freshmen playing this season and giving Nowell the redshirt. Worst comes to worst, Nowell would then start for us next season.

RB

Jennings is our best option obviously. I wish we had Ljunghammer around another year. Recruit a good back in a year or so, but I would rather have receivers.

FB

Who cares? We'll rarely use that spot.

WR

Obviously, in our single back set, we'll need a good dose of these consistenly, year in and out. Recruit heavily, coach.

Out of our receivers, I like Compton, Reid and Richmond to start, but you want to redshirt Richmond. That's fine, we'll let Kramer start, but we don't have much depth here.

TE

We moved Z here and I'm quite happy with it. We need to recruit a TE, though.

T

We're top heavy tackle wise, so I'd recruit two. Heck, they may both start for us next season. This is a weak area for us.

Hoover and Nixon get the nod.

G

More depth at the guard position, but it's hardly useful. Recruit two here as well. Best of the bunch, Finch and Karr. Get rid of the scrap.

C

We need a youngster here as well. Padilla is our center.

K/P

Bryant and Correa take the duties.

It's going to be a long season, coach. Recruit heavily.

Great idea, here's the cuts:

Trippi, Calvin 3 P Fr 27 69
Wynn, Jeff 16 K Sr 54 62

This gives us a total of 11 scholarships now for next year and/of this year if someone who does well starts complaining.

Yes, its 11 unused ones this year...that does not account for seniors who will graduate this year(they bring it up to 36). Again though, we have quite a few talented walkon youngsters who might get scholie looks during the year...but that is for another meeting coach

Id venture to say parkinson is at least a nice target...id say you stick with him till someone comes in that just blows us away prestige and academic wise...i think you have to hope your distance helps you out.

One thing i would request is what level of competition we are facing for the recruits, and id say drop 1 of the DEs and go after a DT if you could...just my choice...cant speak for defense though

Recruiting Update:

DE Thomas Terry is out. He's strongly considering Florida and basically said not to bother him.

CB Paul Parkinson has an offer from UCLA and that has him flying high vs Missouri. I don't think I'll waste any more time with him either.

WR Roderick Major thanked me for visiting him, but overall he likes Ohio St.

I'll keep a lazy eye on him, but I think I'm aiming a tad high right off the bat.

S Lorenzo Humphries has an offer from Northern Illinios and was iffy on visiting Missouri.

QB Ross Harding has Ohio St. wining and dining him this week, so I think I'll check out another QB.

RB Marlon Prior has only been contacted by us. Hopefully that will help sway him some.

S Chuck Glover has Bowling Green and Louisville after him and I think we're #3 on his list.

DE Jimmie Holmes and Reggie Hardy have only been contacted by us as well, but so far they've declined my invitation to our school.

OLB Leonard Rasmussen has Tulsa and Jolplin chasing him with an offer from Joplin.

WR Tony Doran has been offered a scholarship from Jefferson City.

Ok, I'll let my scouts handle the gameplay, if that is ok?

Basically, I would like to sit back Game 1 and see what we can do. This game should give us a good idea on where we're at and what we need to improve on.

I took both of your advice and started recruiting closer to home. The main reason I ventured away from home so early was the player were in blue or green, which I think means they are interested in Missouri. However, I need to make sure my scount in that particular region is good with that type of player.

The locker room was buzzing as well as the media after the game. I just smiled at our men and said, "Remember this feeling". I talked for a short while at the press conference, giving all credit to my two coordinators and our team play. "Smart football" was all I kept saying.

I let you two hand out the stokes for the game:

I GUESS ill take that score...I really like how my boys on D did. Ill take 33 passing yards allowed any day of the week, and a 1.4 ypc is pretty good stat too... 2 picks and 3 forced fumbles.

Before seeing the individual stats, i feel bad about blasting Nathan Baxter when he gets game MVP...

Speaking of Baxter, he came into my office before the game and wondered why you have been so hard on him. I told him there's a reason for everything and to go out there and give it his all. I guess he took it to heart as he had a spectacular game. As you can see, I like to stay out of my coaches business. :)

All is not all good news, here's the injury report:

Losing Battle hurts. Big brother will have to step up next week.

Yah, Baxter made an impression on me today, but i still think he has a long way to go. He has to keep working hard and i hope he will be able to hold down his spot this well all year long.

Rueben Battle was looking bright, and Wally will be counted on even more heavily now....but Rueben is the future of the spot.

Myers was a starter at OLB, and we were looking for him to be a leader during his senior year.

Sheckton was a young kid who wasnt going to see much time this year.

These three kids all looked to have bright seasons and its a shame to see them go down. When your in the trenches though, accidents happen. We just hope they come back soon.

Game 1 detailed look:

DE: Anderson started off the season with a solid performance, and really looked like one of the leaders of the D. Richardson played hard but only got 1 tackle.
MVP: Anderson

DT: What can i say about Baxter...super performance by all accounts. With other lineman getting double-teamed, baxter got single all day long and killed the QB. Daehnke played hard and contributed, but hopefully he will pick it up when we face tougher competition.
MVP: Baxter

ILB: Wally battle played well for the time he was in the game, and i think he could be solid this year...our others are still a bit of a mess right now, but that hopefully will get sorted out soon.
MVP:Battle(Wally)

OLB: Banks didnt blow anyone away, but thats the kind ofplayer he is. he contributes solidly and makes he play speak for itself. Others played well, but no real standouts
MVP:Banks

CB: First off, Hopkins INT was nice to see and hopefully we will see many more. A big suprise for me was our Ballhawk corner in Stephenson knocking two balls loose. He made some bone-rattling hits today. Patterson also had a pick from the thrid CB spot, making this spot look pretty solid this year
MVP: Despite the two INTs being solid, i liked Stepenson's aggresive tackling(so it goes to Stephenson)

S: Sampon put in a solid effort, but overall the S let me down today. Thats hard to say after the way the D dominated, but i thought my S would be leading the D, not backing it up...hopefully they can pick it up
MVP: None...not good enough this week

I don't know what you two coaches are doing gameplan wise, but I like it. :)

Ahhh...nothing like being back in Columbia and performing like we did in front of our fans. We showed we can run the ball quite well and our defense has really looked great. Again, great job staff!!

A week off while we prepare for Colorado at home. I can't say I thought we would be 3-0 going into our bye week, I thought we'd be tough, but not as dominating as we have been.

Lets see if I can get some of the more prestige recruits to come to Columbia for the Colorado game in two weeks.

This is the first of two write-ups for defense...this covers the troy state game last week...Ball State still upcoming.

Team Defensive Review: Troy State is at best an average team. This is not a Big XII-caliber squad, so we should have blown right over them. We didnt, but i guess thats what these early non-conference games are for...to work out all of our kinks(and boy do we have a lot). For the second game in a row, our run defense got beaten like liza manelli. Arkansas State gained 1.4 ypc, which is about 3.0 ypc too high. Ark State shuldnt evendream of positive rushing yardage on us. That game i can excuse though, but not this one. What the hell is troy State doing with 211 rushing yards?? They bloodied our noses, and we better come out like mad dogs or else ball state will be our last win of the year. Colorado is in two weeks, and they will hit us again and again n the face with their running...if we cant stop them, it will get ugly. Now for the Pass D...you guys reversed my thoughts on you guys. First week the run stuffers made you look silly(which isnt saying much). 4 of our 5 secondary starters(3 guys at 2 spots for CB) have picks. You boys held troy to 118 yards passing, and only 8-22 with 3 picks. You boys kept their passing game at half their rushing game, which is quite a feat in todays pass-happy world. Lets break it down a bit

DL: 3 sacks, 4 players...nt bad, but not spectacular either...i expect more.

DE: Richardson had 4 tackles and a sack...good game for a 2nd DE....Anderson, what to take from this game?...im not quite sure...One one tackle and a split sack with the third DT...but the quandry is those 6 assists. Those would place him near the top of the team. Hard work or luck? i just don't know. Rose got a sack of the bench, so pretty solid for him.

DT: Daehanke had 4 tackles and 1 assist, but no sacks...not acceptable against this level of competition. Baxtr is back down to expected levels...*cough cough fluke* Logan aided in a sack, more then any other DT...

LB: Solid game, but nothing spectacular overall

ILB: WALLY!!!! Where the hell did this come from? 9 tackles, 1 assist, and an INT? DAMN! Every player i put down comes back and proves themselves. SOLID SOLID SOLID!!

OLB: Banks had a good game, but i keep waiting for him to blow me away...Myers is playing injured, so you have to be proud of his toughness. When he is back at full health, i will expect more. Maybe next week?

CB: Just no...Special Team guys did better then the CB on D stats...im soo ashamed right now...

S: And these boys make up for it. Both boys got a pick, and both were solid in run support. S and CB always play well, just never in the same game...next game we need them to mesh togetehr into one unit.

Outlook: Stop the run or die...thats all it comes down to with colorado coming up....plain and simple...

Team Defensive Review: Another game against a lower team, and an even better defensive performance. Whether or not it shows improvement on our part or a werakening in the strength of our opponent, i cant say. One thing that has been the key point for me now is our pass defense. I thought our safties would carry us this year(and thats with two of our best safties red-shirted). For the second week in a row, we held the other team to under 150 yards passing, which is huge in my mind. This time though our run defense matched them, which is great heading into Colorado. A just great game on all areas, which is exactly what i want with the game coming up.

DE: Anderson didnt do great...im a little disspointed here...even more dissapointed in richardson...Rose continues to help in sacks despite limited time...im really looking forward to when he starts next year

DT: Daehnke had a nice game...i cant really knock him today, while baxter didnt help soo much in the run...he did have 1.5 sacks though, and kees me happy. Logan and Johnson didnt help much, but were in briefly

ILB: Wally had another good game...Wally is finally playing like i wanted, and im happy about it....not much else to say, though look below this post for a question about this position.

OLB: Banks still plays solid, but has yet to blow me away. He better pick it up when we reach conference play. What to say about myers...the guy is injured and he grabs 8 tackles and a sack...

CB: Stephenson had a good game, and really helped shut down the other team. Hopkins stepped up with 8 tackles and .5 sacks....thats how you play football! patterson even had 5 tackles, and martinez, a nobody, had 1.5 sacks so we are really doing well here

S: Sampson got a pick, jongelingt was great against the run, and no name turnage got an int....the secondary is just playing it up right now...great game!!

Outlook: I think were ready for colorado...we are playing well every where, and i think we could really play well next week....not much else to say then im really proud of how these guys are coming together.

Blade6119

Would like the head coaches advice on a potential roster move...do you think it would be advisable to move ILB Pearson to OLB and OLB Ford to ILB? Ford would immediatley challenge to start, and pearson could add some depth to OLB. Playing behind rueben will be hard at ILB, unless you think he wont be developed until rueben is leaving...im honestly not sure what to do here....but ford could get a lot of time at ILB, while he rides the bench at OLB.

Our defense didn't look good versus a decent offensive team, but we managed a victory nonetheless. Our front four look fine, it's our secondary that needs some work this week at practice.

We haven't been able to sign any recruits as of yet either. I'll have to talk to our scouts and see what is going on. Get some rest team and we'll go over the tape of the game on Monday morning...

With that I'm out the door as I want to get back home and check out what our secondary was doing today. Giving up 387 yards passing is not my idea of a good day.

We've cracked the Top 25, but I really wish we could land some kids here soon. With the way this program has been playing, I was hoping for a suprise signing or two early. :(

Here is how we look going into Week 7 vs unranked Baylor.

This might not be a bad idea, and considering we're playing Baylor next week, maybe we should see how this would look?

id be game for it...i wasnt sure if the individuals had the right measurements or what not, but it would add some help that could play now at ILB, and add some potential at OLB

Team Defensive Review: Hmmmm, maybe i was too focused o stopping tht colorado running game....We did an excellent job against it, with a stunning 1.7 ypc allowed...holding them to 49 on 28 is a miracle in my mind...im all excited, then i see what the pass D i have been praising did....WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT BOYS??? 41 attempts or not, 391 yards is too much! I appreciate you guys might have been helping in run stuffing(might being the key word), but cover your damn men. We get baylor next so we should have a week to practice on our mistakes, but i am very very dissapointed right now.

DE: Anderson got MVP of the game...8 tackles and 1.5 sacks is a solid game any way you analyze it...this was what i expected from him all along. Take all his good work and throw it away for richardson....1 measly assist....Rose might be playing his way into the line-up if this keeps up...maybe even next week at baylor since rose got half a sack at least.

DT: Daehnke and Baxter had solid games as well...i have no complaints here...

ILB: Wally is really becoming a leader of the team recently...hes playing well and contributing solid time. Dont believe Danner played at all...

OLB: Myers is outplaying the more talented Banks every game....either our scouts are wrong or myers just has one heck of a heart...Banks just plays...hes not posting stats, but i have to assume he is at least setting up others to make the plays....

CB: Did these 3 even play today? I see they had SOME stats in run support, but damn they didnt play any pass D...i will give some props to Mr. Martinez...second week in a row where he came from the very end of our bench to make a INT and provide solid support...Martinez might get some more time against baylor as well

S: Sampson was a machine against the run, which is great, but if he goes into the box to make plays, he has to make sure Jongeling can cover the deep zone, which didnt happen. Its hard to get on Sampson, but both need to pick it up in the pass D.

Outlook: Getting Baylor is nice, as we can try out a few guys and it gives more time for some of our walking wounded to heal up...im not happy with the CBs in particular, but most of the team played well...We won against one of our biggest Big-12 rivals, which is all that matters in the end. A lot of roster moves will be analyzed soon before the baylor game.

Also, what about moving Collins from S to CB and Patterson from CB to S...this would make collins a starter if he doesnt lose talent, and add some youth to a position that badly needs it...i just dont know how they would take it.

We looked good offensively, for the most part. I like 100 yard rushers, and we spread the ball around, hitting 7 different receivers.

Too bad about our field goal kicker, this game wouldn't have been so close without 2 missed field goals.

Excellent work on special teams with the punt return for the TD.

Excellent thoughts Blade, I'll check out the roster and see what we can do to improve our defense prior to next week.

AE, I agree the fact that if our field goal kicker would make one every so often, this game wouldn't have been as close as it was. I don't think Mizzou has ever had a kicker.

I'll go over what Blade wants to happen and get back to you both later today.

Done, without any changes in ratings. I'm anxious to see how this works out for our defense.

Pearson and Ford are both redshirted, so I think we should wait until next year for this possible change.

Todd, can you make a custom helmet? FranklinNoble is looking for a custom "Gila Monster" helmet. If you can make one, or know someone who can, I'd appreciate it.

Also, if you could vote "Gila Monster" in his dynasty forum poll, I'd appreciate it. :)

Any chance we could get a few updates in a row...realistically barring some major injury, we shouldnt have any more roster moves and the after-game reviews aret necessary...at our current pace i just think we will never get through a single season.

I'm sorry, I'll get some games in tonight. With work, kids, FOF, FM, and ootp, I have been taking this one at a snails pace. It'll get interesting here as my recruiting stinks. :)

The score doesn't tell the story of this game. We played well, but 2 key int's by Lachance cost us points. They also had a kickoff return for TD, but Valerio had his 2nd punt return for a TD for us.

Overall, not bad.. but we head to #15 Texas next week and this game scares me. :)

Lachance sustained a pulled quadriceps muscle in the first series of plays for us and so went the wind from our sails as Texas shows us what a powerhouse they are.

They beat us up both mentally and physically. We were dominated and the bus ride home is very quiet.

We're at home next week and I hope we can pull together with a new QB at the helm.

Recruiting Update:

QB Darnell Kimble from Weaver high school in Hartford, Connecticut has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. He's thrown for over 2000 yards in 9 games with 10 TD's and 4 INT's. He was ranked 4th in the state and made the All-State team. Our scout rates him 70 out of 100 and he is better than scouted.

His strength is very long passing and his weakness is timing recievers.

S Chuck Glover from Blaine high school in Blaine, Washington has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. In 9 games Blaine has 73 tackles 3.5 sacks, and 10 interceptions. He was ranked 22nd in the state and made the All-State team as well. Our scout rates him at 83 out of 100 and he is much worse than scouted. :(

His strength is zone defense and his weakness is punt returning.

Isnt Sheckton a redshirt? How did he hurt his knee? Martinez going down with the broken hand hurts...playing from like our #10 spot he was pciking off passes left and right...losng 2 Qbs will hurt, but we get back rueben at LB, so maybe wewont allow 300+ yards next week against the run...after killing baylor's offense, im a little dissapointed...but im glad to get my first commit on D. Hopefully Chuck can come in with a lot of potential or current, as we need the youth! Congrats on kimball, he sounds like he could be a future leader for our school. After the next game or so can we get an overall recruitng breakdown again?

He was when the game started up, but I redshirted Moss and took Sheckton off. Injuries are coming all over the place now. :(

I just finished the Oklahoma St. game, I'm going to watch a movie so tomorrow morning I'll get the Ok St. stats posted along with some recruiting information.

Anything special you'd like to see?

Oh yeah, we signed a WR and a DT today. More on them later... :)

Sheckton and Shea both are on academic suspension. I allot both of them 5 extra time blocks.

He was 15th in the Rivals.com state rankings and made the All-State team. Our scout, who is excellent in receivers, rates him a 69 out of 100.
His strength is kick returning and his weakness is punt returning. (Go figure that one out)

DT Carlos Timberlane from Woodcreek high school in Roseville, Californial has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. In 9 games, Carlos has 96 tackles and 9.5 sacks. He is #4 in rank by position in the state and made the All-State team. Our scout rates him 82 out of 100.

Here is who I'm recruiting before going back out on the trail for Week 9. We still need:

[QB][RB][2WR][2T][P][K][2OLB][S][C][G][FB]

We are losing 14 players, so if I miss a few, it's not that big of a deal, but I would like to redshirt more players.

Recruiting Update:

RB Marlon Prior from Ritenour high school in St. Louis, Missouri has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. Marlon has rushed the ball 226 times for 1409 yards and 11 TD's. He was 9th in the Rivals.com state rankings and ranked #3 by position. This kid can flat out run the football and has that "toughness" about him. Our scout, who is decent in running backs, rates him an 83 out of 100.
His strength is gaining extra yardage and his weakness is kick returning.

FB Junior Riordan from Wilmington high school in Wilmington, Illinios has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. Junior has rushed 75 times for 550 yards and 5 TD's. He was ranked #2 by position. Our scout, who is pretty good with RB's, rates him a 59 out of 100.
His strength is power running and his weakness is gaining extra yardage.

WR Terrance Connell from Arcadia Valley high school in Ironton, Missouri has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. Terrance has caught 64 passes for 1424 yards and 9 TD's. Terrance is ranked #5 by position. Our scout, who is excellent with receivers rates him a 56 out of 100.
His strength is yardage after the catch, and his weakness is punt returning.

*OLB Darnell Shull from Hubbard high school in Chicago, Illinios has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. Darnell's poor attitude could affect his performance on the college football field, but when he plays to his ability, Darnell has great vision and anticipation on the field. In 9 games, Darnell has 101 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and 8 int's. Imagine Ray Lewis with the hands of a Terrell Owens. :) He's ranked #19 in the state by Rivals.com and made the All-State team.
Our scout, who is very good with linebackers, rates him a 76 out of 100.
His strength is intercepting passes and his weakness is man-to-man defense.

QB Rusty Nowell is going to be back and we're at home, but the whole team seems uptight about K-State... and for good reason.

Funny thing is, they are only favored by 5 points. ;)

WR Terry Cranford recovered a Nowell fumble and returned it 49 yards to tie the game at 17 - 12:23 into the 4th quarter. From there, the game fell apart and we lost back to back games for the first time this season.

I'm a little bummed after that 4th quarter, but with our backup QB, we played well against the #5 team in the nation. ILB Reuben Battle had 2 int's, but separated his shoulder late in the game.

I really want to win these last two games and finish 7-3.

So Rueben comes back from injury, plays amazing, then gets injured again....though loss here since it was soo close for awhile...i think 7-3 is a realistic goal, considering we are already through the cream of the crop...can we get an updated look at injuries next chance you get?

Sure thing...

Missouri Roster, Injury Report

Player # Pos Elig Health Injury Full Strn.
Nowell, Rusty 1 QB Sr Probable Sprained Knee 1 Week
Daehnke, Harvey 72 DT Sr* Probable Shoulder Tendonit 7 Weeks
Battle, Reuben 93 ILB So Out Separated Shoulde 5 Weeks
Lachance, Charlie 5 QB Sr Out Pulled Quadriceps 5 Weeks
Martinez, Charlie 27 CB* So* Probable Broken Hand 5 Weeks
Willig, Richie 8 QB Sr* Questionable Abdominal Strain 1 Week

With Lachance probably out for the year, it's going to be hard to play consistant on offense. I just hope now that Jennings is healthy, we can start running the ball again.

I don't see why not. I've given two guys scholly's already this year.

You want just the last game, anything in particular besides recruits? I plan to get some season stats, leaders. etc... later on.

Todd

Just the last game, any recruiting updates, and some stats for the season. I think i have a pretty good idea of where most guys are, but it would still be nice. We lose a lot of starters so hopefully our young guys can step up ad play well. Im assuming with or without a win were bowling so maybe that if possible as well. Big 12 north standings(i think we came in third behind K-sate#1 and nebraska#2)

Id wait until next season so that you dont draw away potential schollies from recruits...you never know we could land like 20 guys next week...and at the beginning of the year it will provide walk-ons forspots with not enough schollies(not counting walk-ons...we can always use bodies)

QB Charlie Lachance comes into my offense and tells me he's ready to play against Kansas. I look surprised as I tell him I would love for him to start, but thought it would be better to keep him on the bench until later in the game. I get that look from him and I tell him I know it's his last game, but I would need to talk to the coaches before I made a decision. A pulled quadriceps muscle is no laughing matter.

As he leaves my office, I already know he's getting the start. I'm going to miss him next year.

I'm EXTREMELY happy with this season. We lost to 3 VERY good ranked teams and beat a Top 30 opponent. Sure I would have liked a win vs Texas, Nebraska, or Kansas State, but Lachance was out those 3 games and we won the games we should have one.

Both of you did a great job and I hope this team is heading in the right direction.

RB Terry Mussorgsky from Fresno high school in Fresno, California has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. Terry has rushed the ball 233 times for 1361 yards and 15 TD's. Our scout, who is poor with running backs, rates him a 75 out of 100. Our scout has also indicated he is much worse than scouted.
His strength is power running and his weakness is punt returning.

S Dustin Wheeler from Fairbury high school in Fairbury, Nebraska has accepted our invitation to attend Missouri next year. Dustin has 50 tackles, 3 sacks, and 8 interceptions for Fairbury this year. Rivals.com ranks him #11 in the state and he made the All-Star team. Our scout, who is terrific with defensive backs, rates him a 57 out of 100. Our scout has also indicated he is worse than scouted.

My god we have some low stats...but maybe that due to only 11 games...are all the other teams that low, or is it just us? Sampson suprised me with his stats....damn fine job from a guy i thought was slacking...Myers and Banks were solid all year, and i expected no less. Baxter led the team rush, which is the opposite of what i expected. Very Very interesting to see those stats

Well, as I get ready to get some rest, I see that we play the MAC Champions - Miami of Ohio. So far, the line is Missouri by 12. I believe we were snubbed and I plan to show the NCAA as well as the public what Missouri is all about this year.

Tomorrow we'll go over what our plan is vs Miami of Ohio and what our future plans are for next year. We've set a precedence for our team and I hope we can continue to evolve this program into a Championship calibur team.

They are ranked right behind us at #33 for the season, but I guess since they beat Texas, voters wanted them more than us? Doesn't make sense, but when did the BCS style system make sense? There's a handful of teams higher than us that piss me off... but what can you do?

Kansas State was shunned big time. :)

Bah, we outplayed Miami of Ohio, but the score favors them. We couldn't do anything once we got into the redzone and AE went for it too much on 4th down when we could have kicked a field goal. (I don't think AE has much confidence in our kicker)

Oh well, still a good year.

Yep, that last play will run through my head for quite some time.

I'll miss this year's seniors, but I can't reflect too long as I have 16 new kids to evaluate.

Get some rest, I'll tell my staff. We have work to do.
