...as if millions of Giants fans suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Astros 5, Rockies 0, top of the 6th inning.

It isn't the Astros' fault the Giants couldn't hold a three run lead with two outs to go. ;)

I hate the Rockies more than the Astros right now. How many 9th inning leads did they blow against the Dodgers?

SackAttack
10-03-2004, 04:37 PM
I don't know if they were all in the 9th inning, but they blew four leads in the final week.

SackAttack

For what it's worth, the Giants had a few games early in the year where they led 2-0, 1-0, and in the third game, had leads of 2-1 and 4-2, and dropped all three games. Then, in the "Yom Kippur" game that Green played, they surrendered a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2. That's four games right there where the Giants had opportunities of their own to do some damage, and failed to capitalize. The Rockies bullpen hurt the Giants, yes, but I think the Giants were their own worst enemy this season.

Oh, I totally understand that. I don't want to make it seem like we deserved to be in...just noting the fact that there were some ridiculous games down the stretch run.

SackAttack

Yup, there were, but it takes two to tango. Rockies and Giants bullpens each served up some whoppers, but if the Dodgers don't take advantage, none of it matters.

Damn. Damn. Damn.

We better get a HUGE bat next season. I don't want to watch Barry walk 4540554404654 times next year. Earth to Giants management, once Bond's retires, you're not going to win so SPEND the damn money now.

Does it kill you when you remember that Manny Ramirez was on the waiver wire in spring training?

Or that guy named Vlad who carried another So. Cal team to the post-season.

The Giants showed a lot of heart to come back from that awful start to contend for the division all the way to the last weekend of the season. They were clearly undermanned in the bullpen all year and it was that fatal flaw that the Dodgers ultimately took advantage of to win the NL West. Congrats to them...they won it fair and square.

Sabean's inability to land relief help at the trade deadline still mystifies me, even more than the decision to trade away Joe Nathan.

Saturday was a bad day for sports in my house. Not only do the Giants Collapse in the ninth, but Fresno State lost a 13 point lead, and got essentially run into the ground by La Tech.

The Giants, in my mind were trying to pull off the near impossible, in sweeping the Dodgers. I didn't think it was likely, but at 3-0 in the ninth, I had dared to hope.

As for the Bulldogs, I wasn't surprised that they won't go undefeated. I was surprised by the school that put the first loss on them, though.

Oh and "go anyone playing the Dodgers". I fear if they win, MrBug will be simply insufferable:) .

Ryan Moats is a badass. I'm not looking forward to playing LaTech because of him. However, I'm hoping that Howard Jackson is able to do something similair to y'all this week... :)

Whats better than the Dodgers winning the West? Seeing the Giants not make the postseason!!! Its like a dream come true. F-you Bonds.

"will be"? I thought 'simply insufferable' was a state of mind for Bug, not tied to the success of SoCal sports. ;)

Go Blue!
