What happened to two Big 10 (+1) teams that early this year looked really strong? Purdue is getting beat 17-0 in the 2nd quarter by Iowa, and Minnesota is getting spanked 28-0 in the 2nd as well.

Does the Tennessee loss put UGA in the SEC title game or is non-conference schedule irrelevant? I guess the specific question I'm asking is, if there is a tiebreaker in the SEC between UT and UGA does head to head play come first, or does overall record come first?

Non-conference schedule is entirely irrelevant, except (AFAIK) in the event of an unbroken tie for a c'ship game berth -- in that case, the higher BCS seeded team gets the shot.
This year, that scenario doesn't come into play since there's no way for UT & UGA to be in an unbroken tie -- the H2H is the first tie-breaker, so the rankings don't come into play.

All I can say is wow! The Aggies really took to the Sooners in the first half, but fortunately, they were abel to pull it out. Jason White was just awesome in the game after throwing 5 touchdowns. Peterson got a tough 101 yards despite a very focus A&M defense. That's his ninth straight 100 yard game which is a NCAA record for a freshman.
Reggie McNeal will be a bonafide Heisman candidate next year. I personally think that he has as much talent as Mr. Vick at his current level. It was too bad that couldn't finish the game because of an injury. It would be much more satisfying victory if he was the one playing the final minutes.

Actually he got the record at 8, because the other guy who had 8, his record was wiped off because he set the record in '68, but freshman didn't play in varsity until '72. So he obviously got his stats in dome freshman games.

I got to see him in person return one to the house against Wisconsin a couple weeks back. He already had 3 TDs on punt returns this year coming into the game. Tressel is just now figuring out how to get him into the offense. I think part of the problem was he was originally recruited as a CB to be the next Deion Sanders and they are just realizing now what he can bring to a lame-ass offense.
In my 30 years of watching OSU football I believe he is the fastest player I have ever seen at OSU. I heard they timed him at 4.22 in the 40, and I believe it.

Wow, what a game here in Austin. Down 35-7 with two minutes left in the 1st half, ends up a 56-35 victory. Glad the defense decided to show up in the second half!

Washington has sunk to new depths this season. The Huskies may have the worst passing game of any college team in the last 20 years.
But we'll still win the Apple Cup... :p
If Glenn had played we would have beat Clemson.
Timmy Chang is the all time leader in passing yds now, I think he holds passing td's as well.
He also holds the record for the most INTS.

I was there, I wouldn't call it a stunner... we were #3 in the country (1-aa) :D . What was stunning was that we had to come back to win, which we never do. We normally give it away in the last minute or OT.
Great atmosphere from our fans though. They finally woke up and it was the loudest I've ever heard it in our stadium. it was great looking across the field and seeing the stunned looks on the GSU fans when we went ahead. They are the most classless fans and team I've ever met. Every time they had a penalty they booed the refs mercilessly. They booed our band at half time and our homecoming queen. Their team walked onto a corner of the field to start the game, waited for our team to run out, then ran out on the field. They also had a chop block away from the play on one of our D-lineman.
I'm hoping to book my tickets to the national championship game if we beat Wofford (#10) next week, because we should get homefield advantage until then.
But I will say, Ingle Martin... huge disappointment.

The difference is, the ACC has more talent in the middle of the pack so there is a better chance for upsets by teams such as UNC, Maryland or Clemson and the top teams such as VTech, Miami, FSU and UVA are pretty even and beat each other up. Any of those four teams would probably run the table in the big east. They have losses because they play a tougher schedule.
Speaking of the big east, I'm betting Louisville wishes they were there already as they'd have a shot at the BCS this season. They have a lot of young talent. I look for good things from them in the future.
More thoughts:
I'll never root against them and I enjoyed the win, but the Irish are now in purgatory. I don't know what to think.
After giving away a game at Syracuse, against UAB and an embarrassing loss to Army, I'm glad to see the Cincinnati Bearcats come back strong against the likes of Memphis, TCU and especially the beating they gave Southern Miss. Dantonio has them going in the right direction. There is talent to spare in the state of Ohio. If he can start to harvest some of that, they could make noise in a couple years as well in the big east.
I've never seen a team getting beat like Texas was turn around and beat a team like Texas did. It was just the perfect combination of Texas getting hot/confident and the pokes crapping down their legs. What a tough two weeks they've had.
I live in Ohio but loathe the Buckeyes. But I will say this, Ted Ginn Jr. is the most exciting player to come along in a long time. His impact will be very Rocket Ismael-like. Say what you want about Rocket as a pro, but he was Mr. Everything and very exciting in college. I see Ginn having that kind of impact, if they can continue to get the ball to him.
Another team I loate, Miami, isn't that bad. But when you lose what they have lost, eventually it will catch up to them. They are a young team. They'll be in the hunt again within the next couple years.

Hence part of the "stunner". But really, rankings aside, I think this probably surprised me as much as any game in a long time. GSU has been, since the opener, nothing short of a machine. Regardless of the inferior competition in previous weeks, there's no way I expect Furman to hold their offense in check enough to keep the game close enough to pull out a win.
But win they did, and in my mind they've become a legitimate contender for a championship (instead of a good bridesmaid, which is about where I had them slotted).

But that game winning slant to Ginn was so fucking sweet. I'm excited about the Bucks playing Purdue and Michigan again!

Nah, college football is pretty far down on the list for me, so I can push aside the whole Ga Tech/UGA thing since college football is what Oliegirl loves. Note, I'm not rooting FOR UGA, don't think i'll ever do that. But I'm not rooting against them so much anymore either, and if I do, I do it quietly.
Hopefully, Oliegirl is taking note, and will be quiet about UNC in college basketball this year ;)
And, 30%? Don't you think that's a little high? (I'm convinced Auburn is better than OU or USC right now, and UGA is very good but just not in that class of teams).

I think we can hang with anyone from a 6-5 D-1a team on down, but the problem is we make a lot of mistakes. FU's been fumble happy for 2 years, and Ingle has thrown 9 picks this year, not a lot, but too many of them are when we have a good drive going. That tends to keep games too close for comfort. We haven't really dominated anyone, even bad teams, from start to finish this year.
Our secondary is also very suspect against the pass, they tend to drop too deep because they're scared of being beaten long. This generally allows teams to get 8-10 yards every pass. App. St. exploited our weakness when their QB went something like 40-45 for 450 yards, and Pitts very average QB did pretty much the same. To tell you the truth, I'm more worried about UTC than Wofford. We've shown we can stop the run when we need to, but UTC is the 2nd best passing team in our conference, so I think it will be a tougher game. Hopefully the D can get healthy by the end of the season and we can make a run in the playoffs.

I only root against UNC when they are playing Duke...and think of it this way - you have a much better chance of me pulling for UNC than you do of me pulling for the Jackets! :)

Like many college football games, I believe this one is going to come down to intangibles like "heart", "courage", and "determination". (that is, of course, if neither team has a huge unforced turnover day, which can happen to anyone on any given Saturday).
There's all the athletic talent in the world over in Athens, but I'm not convinced they've found the "heart" to win the big ones. I believe if Auburn will smack 'em in the mouth early, both while blocking for those RB's and knocking Greene in the dirt, you'll see the Tigers roll 'em up & pound 'em all day. If, on the other hand, Georgia sticks around & matches them blow for blow early (I don't mean scoring blows, just smashmouth blocking & such) then we might get a real classic game right down to the wire.
