Is there a demo for Half-life 2?

Nope.
There wasn't a demo for half life 1 either (apart from a 3rd party one level thing which I think valve kind of allowed magazines to use as a demo type thing)

Don't need a demo. If you are a FPS fan, you won't be disappointed with the game.

And, it comes with free online multiplayer goodness Counter Strike that you can play against other hewMAHNs for no monthly fee.

And, as new Mods come out for the game, they will be available on steam for free download.

A demo would be nice to check system requirements, and make sure it runs smoothly on your PC before purchase.

Of course a demo would be nice, but, IMHO, if the first thing that comes to mind when you go to purchase a game is if it will run on your system that means it probably won't and you should skip the game or upgrade.

When people want to "demo" a game, I take it as they want to see if it is worth purchasing in a good/bad game sort of way and that was what my comment was geared at: the game is good for purchase.

The best part of this link is Microsoft calling out the integrated Intel video chip as a piece of junk http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I'll say this. My pc was about 4-5 bars below the recommended PC levels, and I played DOOM 3 with the graphics turned WAY UP.

That game advisor is a nice tool.
