It's Fight Night! Mosley vs Wright II

Last March, Ronald "Winky" Wright pretty much dominated "Sugar" Shane Mosley (117-111, 117-111, 116-112) to become the undisputed Light Middleweight/Super Welterweight Champion of the World (same class, different titles depending on sanctioning body). Tonight, Shane Mosley, with a new trainer, gets his rematch with Wright.

I have a felling tonight will basically be the same. Mosley might start out better and faster than he did in March, but as the fight goes on, I see Wright using his defenses and countering to get another decisive decision victory.

Mosley's Done. Wright either by a lopsided division or by stoppage.

Round 1

Wright is landing the jab with ease. Mosley is being active, but everytime he throws a combination, most, if not all, bloked by Wright's hands or arms. Mosley has a small cut on the outside of his left eye.

Round 2

Wright landed a couple of good shots in the middle of the round, but is not all the active through the round. Mosley landed a couple of good shots to the body, but still can't connect cleanly to Wright's head.

Wright pretty much dominated the round. He looked like he hurt Mosley early in the round and is firing straights and Mosley can't blokc or avoid them. Mosley did finally land his first, good clean shot to the head, but it was his only good punch for the round.

Tough round to score. Mosley's best round, but Wright also still controling the action. For each good shot Mosley landed, Wright answered back. Moslye looked to be gaining momemtum, but Wright caught him with a good straight midway through the round.

Wright showed off by dropping his hands and Mosley took the chance to pound him in the body and then caught him upstairs. Mosley dominated the first half of the round because of it. Wright was hurt a bit. But then Wright regained himself and the second half of the round was very entertaining.

Wright goes back to controling the fight with his jab and straight left. Mosley, because of it, just can't get inside and land hard shots.

A slower round. Not much action going on. Wright still controling the fight, Mosley still having trouble getting to Wright.

Mosley is very active this round. He landed several really good shots and Wright just shrugged them off. Mosley looks tired, however, which as Jones Jr keeps pointing out, that's exactly what Wright wants.

Some good shots by Mosley, some good shots by Wright. A good close round until Wirght landed some good shots with under a minute left that probably took the round.

Wright landed a lot of clean shots in this round. Mosley seems to have hit a wall and is tired. Unless he catches a second wind, Wright will run away with these last rounds.

On my card, Mosley needs a KO to win the fight

Boxing has really gone down hill when a fight between guys nicknamed Winky and Sugar is worthy of HBO coverage.

Mosley is really trying to get inside now. It's causing him to land more, but also cause him to get tagged more. It's also causing a lot of clinches. But it's still a good round with Wright landing some good clean shots.

Mosley very active trying to put on the pressure. Wright weathers it and counters. Both land some good shots, but Mosley's agressiveness kind of takes the round.

My final score: 117-113 (2 rounds scored even) A pretty convincing win for Wright.

A decision much closer than it was, but thankfully still to the correct winner.

Yeah, but if you give Mosley the two even rounds, I would have had it 115-113. I think this is one of those occasions where the rounds that Wright won he won very convincingly, but the rounds Mosley won he did by a slight margin.

Sab's 2 even rounds probably went to Mosley (they very easily could have). If so, I think the 2 cards that were 115-113 were on.

I don't know what the person who had it even saw. There wasn't another round that really could have gone to Mosely.

I can agree with the 115-113. I just think the 114-114 is unexcusable.

So basically this was the 3rd best fight this weekend...

Naw this was the 4th best fight this weekend. Couple of kids got in a fight across the street from me on Saturday, real punches landed AND their was blood.

Seriously though that was a pretty boring fight. But at least it was better than the lowlights from last weekends PPV. This weekend should have a great PPV with Marco Antonio Barrera in his third bout with Eric Morales. Morales by decison.
