Is anyone up for a game of basketball?

Sure. Can I be the drunken, unruly fan who can launch a cup of beer with pinpoint accuracy?

can I be the fat guy who stumbles onto the court looking to kick ass on a pro athlete a professional athlete only to get my lights punched out.

Sure, but I foul pretty hard.

I'm the guy standing there in a drunken stupor after everyone else cleared out of the stands and gets slugged even though I didn't do anything.

And all of the sudden this thread is fucking stupid.

I don't care how drunk the dude was - how harmless he might have been. The way he went onto the court and with all of the craziness around, Artest had a right to defend himself. I know this has been drilled over in the other thread, but why was this one started then.

I was referring to the first guy punched in the stands when it was someone else who threw the beer on Artest.

The first post is actually a quote from the Prince Playing Basketball skit on the Chappelle Show. I wanted to see if would go somewhere humorous. Or not. I wasn't really expecting a thread on the brawl, although I guess I shouldn't have been suprised. I'm indifferent to the NBA in general and that incident in particular.

At least no one's been suspended in this thread.

...yet.

I keep seeing this, but I don't understand the position. How does leaping over the scorer's table, climbing into the 4th or 5th row, and pounding a guy who didn't even throw the original cup constitute self-defense? I would certainly agree that Artest may deserve some leeway in the later fight that he participated in (the one with the fat dude in the Pistons jersey who ran onto the court), but the first one can't be considered self-defense in any stretch of the imagination.

Uh.. I'm only talking about the fat dude in the Pistons jersey. I misinterpreted Desnudo.

As for punching the first guy..

Maybe Ron Artest saw the similarity of the guy to Jared (of Subway fame) like I did and wanted to express his disbelief in that there is no fucking way you can lose over 400 pounds by eating just Subway. *sigh*

Prince would not have gone into the stands like that. And I don't know if you should call that guy who stumbled onto the court fat. He might have been half-somoan; what a brother supposed to do?
