Ive been asking for this...for YEARS
And if Joe was traded during the 1997 season, you can see the stats split up into the teams he played for
I wonder what the outlook is for online play :)

Those screenshots look great. I'm really hopeful that with SI's help with the code that we will be able to play head to head online with OOTP7 (you can with CM and FM) :)
Screenshoots look nice, even better than FM ones. Looking forward for this game, you and ootp6 made me start to watch baseball :)

Looks great, but take a look at the Darren Smith player profile. the AB splits don't add up, that is, 383+191 does not equal 575.

This promises far far more than ootp6 promised. If it is able to deliver, this would really be the most monumental baseball sim ever. It's the licensing that really puts it over the top.

Will the game follow the EHM model of having all North American sports terms and phrases stripped out and replaced by goofy European ones?

Am I the only one that could care less about having 60 leagues available, no offense intended, but the last version of OOTP couldnt give me a real simulation of MLB let alone add on 60 more leagues.

The game will (pending licensing) include real players and teams from 27 leagues. Those leagues include ALL US minor leagues, down to the Rookie League level. Also, we have some international leagues (for example Japan and Taiwan), Winter Leagues and the AFL. That means it'll feature 300+ teams and 7500+ players. However, the game will not lose it's customization options. That means you can create your infinite baseball universe. You may create new leagues, and for example assign them to other leagues as minor leagues. Or just start from scratch, and build a European League, with 5 leagues per country. It'll be up to you. No limits. And of course you may import historical seasons, teams and players. The other customization stuff will be there as well, for example a player editor, league rules editor or simply a schedule im/exporter. There will be also a file that includes most variables that are used in the game engine, i.e. double play frequency, and you may alter this file to your likings.
This is the best news I've heard about a baseball sim. You can count on me for an order.
Given the depth of previous "manager mode" will you be able to start as a manager on a lower level (such as in the minor leagues) or take a job in Japan? If so, you're going to release the best game ever.

From a multiplayer standpoint, I couldn't really care about 60 leagues either. For single player games, I suppose this might be interesting.

The problem I have with 6 is that its useless for single play. I'm rather pissed about playing 26 bucks for a multiplayer client. And then stuff just doenst perform like it should.

My question is this, theoreticly you can ALREADY make any league you want with OOTP, Baseball is not soccer, the whole 60 leagues thing with countless minor leagues and leagues in asia, timbuk two and Antartica seem to me completely illogical and ass backwards when it comes to a Baseball sim. Were there people clamoring for this?
It just seems to me that since they signed a deal to work with the CM people that they decided to implement the soccer structure into their Baseball game which doesn't make 1 bit of sense to me.
And i'm not trying to bash Marcus or anyone affiliated with OOTP, they do their best on the game, it just doesn't work for me.

For me, it just never feels like baseball, as spreadsheety as Jims games are they "feel" like football. The complete randomness of atributes, 2B who have monster power but can't run, 1B with no power but a ton of speed. It just feels like, again no offense to Marcus, that it was coded by someone who really didn't understand the intracacies of baseball.

Fair enough, I just like it because it's much harder this year and it feels more like baseball than previous versions, which I've lost interest after taking Montreal or Tampa Bay to the World Series in 2-3 years. It's been hard as hell getting the Brewers to play .500 ball.

Since this has devolved into a "my opinion of ootp" thread, here's mine:
i've played ootp more than any other series, and ootp 6 has been no exception. I used to play multi, but now play single player only, and just have so much fun. I think the ootp series is the best american sports sim (american thrown in there to not raise a fm/ootp debate). ootp may have some features that cause it to be charged with not being completely realistic simulation of baseball, but i feel these are done in order to make a more enjoyable gaming experience.
in response to the post downplaying the 27 leagues, this feature could help foster the most amazing sim experience - imaging managing the devil rays, and scouting the japan league for the next ichiro. i assume from markus' post that the game would include real players (since he mentions licensing), so the japan players you would court would be actual players from that country. neato
and when your borderline aging player can no longer hold his own in the majors (cecil fielder, etc) , he could then go over to japan to try to make it there. neato
also saw somewhere the possibility of having promotion/relegation. i know for some baseball sim players, this is utter blasphemy, but for me this would be total neato. (ah, already dreaming of taking trenton thunder to the majors, then beating the yankees in a no holds barred "northeast corridor" series.)
botom line, capturing the entirety of baseball played on the planet at any given time (like fm does for soccer), creates a nice holistic sim experience - you feel like there's nothing that's not being covered.
granted, ootp7 might not nail these, but it sounds like a great step in the right direction.
:D :D :D :D :D

The opportunity to have players really move between leagues, whether into the minors, or overseas, is tremendous. If you wanted to simulate that now, you'd have to run multiple leagues and handle moving the players manually for yourself...or just pretending that they left for Japan or the Mexican leagues...
