What is up with these games first Kill JFK now sell drugs to kids.JEEZ.
Describing the game as a GTA-style third-person driving and shooting affair, here's a bit on this future favorite of Senator Leiberman and Jack Thompson, Esquire:
The aim is to build up a prosperous, illegal distribution network with one of the four completely different players available, then the player might expand the business by buying a drug lab, a cellar to grow mushrooms or even a marijuana plantation. The extra money the player earns can be spent on extraordinary cars, weapons and luxurious properties, etc. The main character can even become a pimp and run a whore house.

I used to play a game called Dope Wars on my PDA. It got boring after a while.

For some reason I loved that game, especially the lucrative business of coke and heroin dealing.
My favorite line was, "Cops bust local cocaine dealers, price of coke soars!"

I'm getting too old, I think.
Who would possibly find a game like this enjoyable?

Just play as the Dallas Cowboys and voila!

So GTA 3 was ok, but this is over the line? Odd.
I guess I can't say I couldn't see it coming...not with the popularity of that trash.

Sounds like it could be boring, but I echo the statement that GTA was fine but this is over the line? How is the distinction made?
FWIW, I find neither objectionable.

I don't know if it is just me, but Dope Wars was like the first simulation-type game I came across. It's not a true simulation, but it was text-based... and if it was called Insurance Salesman and had you buying and selling insurance from people or something... I'd still play it. :D It had nothing to do with the fact that it was a drug game.
It also benefited from its small size, making it easy to sneak this into computer classes during high school and play there. :D

It looks like a publicity stunt or cheap practical joke to make the religious folk get bent out of shape. There are no screenshots except for a few cartoon pictures and it all just sounds like BS.

Dude I could start up a Dope Wars server for the message board if people want me to... :)
It's pretty cool.
I went ahead and did it, the game is free just have to have the client to use it, check my signature.

I don't think this thread ended up having the original desired effect. :)
Good for a laugh though, and made me realized I'd never tried DopeWars..might have to look into this one.
