Dirk scored 53 against the lame Rockets. My question is, is that a record for a foreigner in the NBA? I have been trying to think of other foreign-born players and can't think of anyone who has topped that thus far...

Drazen Petrovic had a huge game years and years ago, but I can't remember exactly how many he had...
And hey! Only Rockets fans can call them lame...

did Hakeem Olajuwon ever score in the 50s?
Yes.
I'm trying to find proof right now, but I'm 99% sure that he did...

Best I can find right now for Hakeem is 49 against Seattle in '86-'87...

Damn. Wilt was the man...
the records where the D wasn't playing due to a scoring title contest are a joke (like Robinson's and probably Gervin's and Thompson's as they are the same day)

To be honest, Jeebs, I don't remember Hakeem ever scoring 50 but my memory isn't that great at single game stats.

If I remember corrrectly I think Hakeem scored 50 either in 94 or 95. Could be wrong though.
Hakeem scored a high of 52 vs. Denver 4/19/90 ( bottom of page (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/hakeem_olajuwon/index.html?nav=page) ).
Tim Duncan is technically a foreigner since he was born in the Virgin Islands and has a high of 53 vs. Dallas 12/26/01. The Virgin Islands are listed as a non-US country here (http://www.basketballreference.com/players/playercountry.htm) and Duncan is listed as foreign player here (http://www.nba.com/statistics/international/interPlayersStats.html).
Patrick Ewing was born in Jamaica and had a high of 51 (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/patrick_ewing/index.html?nav=page).

Maybe we would be in we had a coach that actually understood what the word "offense" means...
