I'm thinking it might be time to jump on the Hole 'em bandwagon, but I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to poker. Is there any decent software that doesn't cost a lot of money that I could learn and practice on? Thanks

I'm only familiar with pokerstars - their software is nice and it's free. and, you can play with play money, although it's only for playing online against real opponents. I assume that for most places, that statement is true as well.

You might want to try this shareware program (http://www.download.com/Texas-Hold-em-Poker/3000-2647_4-10309047.html?tag=lst-0-5) from download.com. Free to try and only $9.95 to purchase.

I bought Donohoe Digital Tournament Poker: No Limit Texas Hold'em for $20. at Walmart. It's a great single player game if you put the computer on hard level. I've yet to crack the top 100 in the World Championship 2003 which is based on the real tournament in 2003 of 800 + players. It also has other tournaments like the 2004 championship and you can create your own.

Thanks, DF. I might check this one out. Does it actually teach you to play, or do you need to know how coming in?

It has an excellent in game help menu. Trust me, for $20. it's worth it if you like Texas Hold 'em poker.
