I finally am starting a new dynasty with 5.1a, since I wanted to wait until my eNFL season was over. Well, I fire a dynasty up and am happy to have Terrell as a target for Donovan. Things are going well for the first 5 games as we are 5-0. Then, I get to my 6th game against Cleveland and we lose 23-3. I'm wondering what the heck is up, so I go to the box score and I see Donovan only threw a few passes before being replaced, and I notice Terrell didn't have any catches (he was averaging about 8 catches and 100 yards per game)

So, I check the game log and sure enough they are both injured. The prognosis: The dreaded ACL injury for Terrell who will never be the same. Donovan is out for the year with a dislocated elbow :(

Other than this small problem, I'm already seeing quite a few things I like in this update. I can't wait to see the continuity that others are seeing in team cores over the length of this career.

Why can't that happen in real life

I've not played enough to know for sure, but once a guy's ratings drop after a serious injury, do they ever get back to near they're previous level, or are they always doomed to be duffers? IRL some guys are never the same, but some (e.g Edgerrin James, Jamal Lewis) do get back to their peak after some time: I've not seen this happen yet to any of my roster in FOF in a decade or so...

I just had possibly the worst injury plagued season...ever.

By the end of preseason, we had 1 starter out for the year, 3 of our 4 starting linebackers (we run 3-4), out for between 5-10 weeks, and 1 other starter gone for another 6 weeks.

Exactly 4 starters made it through the entire season. At one point, we had so many wideouts injured, we had a running back lining up as the backup flanker.

And to kill us even further. 2nd to last game of the season, the dreaded flu whipped through my team. OW.

I've installed the Skydog offense and I ran Westbrook 40 times for 201 yards and the win in my next game.

As far as guys recovering from injuries, I'm pretty sure I've read a few posts on here where people talk about guys at least partially recovering their ratings in FOF, but I've never seen any huge significant recovery from devasting injuries in my careers.

what injury setting you playing on?

A delayed answer to your question. I'm playing on 200 for my injury setting. I think it gives the most realistic injuries (albeit it can be challenging and squad depth is a must.)

Anyway, I tracked this thread down as I resumed playing tonight. Terrell Owens was out for 72 weeks with his ACL injury. He is now fully recovered from his injury, and he hasn't lost any of his ratings!

I wonder if this has something to do with the masking of ratings being redone? Perhaps similar to the thoughts in a different thread, it takes longer to see what kind of effect injuries will have on a guy?

He certainly thought he was done, because I renegotiated his contract while he was injured and he signed a 6 year deal for the minimum with only a modest amount of money up front (I think it was an extra 2 million.) It certainly was a huge cap saver and made it so I wouldn't definitely have to cut him. I was figuring he would make a useful backup at a reasonable price. Now, I'm going to start him as long as his ratings stay this high. It will be interesting to see if he performs to his previous level.

I'm still early in this career, but I notice less QB (and other star player) movement already. That is a huge improvement in 5.1a IMHO.

Well that was interesting. His ratings continued to be 68/70 for the first 5 games. However, he played much more like I would expect from a traditional FOF player coming back from a serious injury. He had a relatively big game his first game with 7 catches for 77 yards. However, in his next 3 games he had 2, 3, and 1 catches despite starting each game for 32, 30, and 14 yards. In his 5th game, he tore his rotator cuff and is out for the next 17 weeks. Not much data, but I suspect the scout's ratings aren't going to change right after an injury, but there seems to have been the expected drop-off in his production (considering he was averaging 100 yards/game for me before he went down with his injury.)
