Ok, just got done viewing the Jump the Shark.com site. As many probably know, this site categorizes TV shows and picks the spot they 'Jumped the Shark", i.e. went from good to bad. Site is named after the infamous episode in Happy Days in which Fonzie is water skiing in Lake Michigan and 'Jumps a shark."
So my question is: Has this site yet "Jumped the Shark?" If so, when did it happen? I mean, too much of the same old, same old? Or too much of someone with too much to say too often? Or are this site's best days still ahead? I'm referring, of course, to this site Front Office Football Forum.

I see absolutely no evidence that this forum has jumped the shark.

Can a forum jump the shark? It's not like SkyDog is going out trying to impress somebody.
It's not like I leave the site and go "I can't wait to visit tomorrow! What will they think of next!?!"

But man, visiting that site, I want to watch some episodes of The Wonder Years right now.

I hadn't heard about the site but now that I check it out a little, I was kinda disappointed that it's a vote poll. In other words, no information or analysis given - unless I missed it someplace. When I see votes for "First Show" on a couple of my favorite shows (that did JtS), how meaningful can that be? The first one I checked was Wonder Years (sorry Suic) and it's just a list of of what shows anyone can remember. I suppose that some of the more popular shows like MASH may be a more accurate list.

Dola,
Watching the Simpsons while reading this thread sure seems like some good symetry. Aye Carumba has that show fallen off.

Suic, it was a misunderstanding since it appeared that you responded 'no' to Shortstuff's comment about wanting to wtach Wonder Years episodes. Not that anyone would care but that show jts when Paul got laid or at least when Kevin came back for a new season about a foot and a half taller. It did have a good last episode, though.

Oh i see. I was responding to BW's question. I looked WY enough, but the older they got the more it lost it's charm, and Jason Hervey was always like nails on a chalkboard to me. And yes, the last episode was very good.

i think the phrase "jump the shark" hopped on a bike on its own and jumped over a tank full of sharks. Its just a stupid phrase used mostly for/by people who are inclined to be the grumpy sort where nothing is as good as it was in the begining.
Newsflash: Hardly anything in the world is new and exciting for long. Stuff will either be rehashed again or move in a different direction. Its funny that when something goes in either of this two opposite directions said thing can be classified as "jumping the shark." If you can only enjoy things in the world when it has a new car smell your life will be filled with disappointing days.

Take it from an expert: FOFC has a long way to go before it jumps the shark.

Thats the whole problem, its an amusing phrase/thought that shouldn't require analysis/actual thought. But people use it like it could be part of some round table discussion on _______. See said mentioned webpage. Nothing from Happy Days should extend to anything beyond shows the quality of Happy Days. Less we think early days of the Fonz is the pinnacle of western civilization. :)

What phrase would describe the grumpy sort who complain about people using phrases they don't like?

This whole line of questioning assumes that FOFC was ever a hit to begin with. You have to climb before you sink back to a general level of suckiness to jump a shark. :p

JTS is a fun site. I like to read it when I need a laugh. I've actually submitted a few comments (no, I'm not telling y'all which ones).
To answer the original question, we've survived trolls of all kinds, two board moves, one serious blackout, more non-serious blackouts than I can remember, Jim going corporate, and 98% off-topic posts. I don't think it has, and about the only thing I can think of that would do so would be if Solecismic were to stop making cutting-edge sports text sims.
