About 6 of us are planning our trip to the Motor City Bowl. I've been to Comerica and actually even inside Ford Field before. I was just wondering what the tailgating situation is there and if anyone had any experience/insight.

I tailgate every weekend before Lions games. Probably the most popular area to tailgate is at Eastern Market. It is about a 15 minute walk from the stadium, and usually has the biggest number of tailgaters each week. Keep in mind, though, attendance will probably about half of what you will get on an NFL Sunday, so the situation may not be the same for the bowl game. I've been to the past two Motor City bowls but haven't tailgated for them so I'm not sure if its a big scene for this game, but I would imagine Toledo will bring a decent crowd so there should be a good amount of people out there.

There are plenty of good bars around the area as well, PM me if you want more info. I will also be at the game, maybe we can meet up for a beer or something beforehand.

The official Motor City Bowl tailgate party can't be a bad time.

I'm wasn't so concerned with a big crowd as I was the fact when I was there I didn't notice anywhere to park but garages.

I've been all over the place this season and the stadiums in the city really stink as far as tailgating goes. Give me a stadium dropped right in the middle of nowhere like the Meadowlands any day of the week.

At BC we were stuck in a disgusting gas fume infested garage. At Georgia Tech I lucked into a bar with free beer. Syracuse isn't so bad, but I hate taking a shuttle bus to the stadium, it just feels remote.
