View Full Version : 5.1a changes scouts view of players?

This may not even been patch related, but i just found something odd about my team.
I've been tracking my players using Primelord's Player Ratings Tracker (http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/forums/showthread.php?t=30379) and I just noticed a pretty significant shift in many of my player ratings between the end of Weeks 15 and Week 18 in my multiplayer career.
I'm talking about some pretty dramatic shifts, with some players gaining 10+ points in future potential.
Has anyone else had a similar expereince with the patch? Or did I just not notice the change in my players for a few weeks?

dola. Yes, it is the patch. I just realized I could easily test it by comparing my roster print-out from Week 15 to my printout of my roster from Week 15 (with 5.1a). The differences I'm seeing are all there.
So it's a function of the patch, not my guys magically making a huge leap.
Did Jim mention exactly how the patch changed the way scouts view players? I'm sort of wondering whether I'm getting a more or less accurate view post-patch.

Definitely the patch.
There was mention of a change to how your scout saw your own roster, as I recall -- that's what I attribute it to without any real research.

It's a bit of a bummer since it just takes a shotgun to a year's worth of tracking. My only option now would be to reload all the past weeks with the post-patch version of the game and re-print the rosters. Oh well....the sacrifices we make for the greater good.

This is actually what the fix said: "43) Tiny tweak to assessment of scouting error for players not on your team."
But there was definitely a change to how your scouts see players on your team as well.

Sadly, all my players look the same.

Like exactly the same, or 'in general' the same? Mine all look basically the same, and I wouldn't have noticed if it had not been for the data from the printouts staring me in the face.
For instance, QB Roy Keith's potential just jumped 11 points for me. Now I just have to figure out if this is some B.S. potential, or if this is for real. I guess I'll take a look at my scout's strength compared to the new ratings I'm seeing and try to figure it out from there.

I don't have any printouts, but I would say exactly the same. I pay pretty close attention from week to week and nothing jumps out at me.

Okay, the ratings definately don't look like they are declining...the Future Overall looks pretty much the same across the board. The Current may have jumped with a few folks.

Some of my changes have been pretty dramatic, also. 5-10 points on the overall scale isn't uncommon.

My most recent past numbers were the end of last season. And there are a few jumps in the 5-10 point range from then.
I am definately uncertain now what the numbers were like just prior to installing 5.1a.

I wonder if some busts have been remasked somewhat, I have at least two guys (FOFL) whom I drafted last year regain some points that they lost last year immediately after being drafted.

Dola - I also had a player who previously boomed some go down 5 points in future.

I've had a couple of these too, both previous boom players now receding a bit, and previous busts looking a little better. I like the theory that the maskign is being reapplied a bit... perhaps to make the direction of player development less obvious.

I like the idea too, anything to make this less obvious.

In my dynasty, I've had a few players change directions since applying the patch. Nothing drastic yet, but a couple of guys have a small gain one year, followed by an identical loss the next.

Norm Rizzo just had a 4 point bump in Future. Hmmmm....

This was with a career started post patch, but I just had my biggest boom ever. A 7th round center who was 16/25 when I drafted him came into the preseason after training camp 30/70. I wonder if this apparent boom is going to have lower ratings after a season or two.
