Just a good luck wish to all FOFC'ers taking final examinations during the coming weeks.

Work hard, study, and remember that sleep isn't optional. And a celebratory drink is always necessary afterwards, good or bad.

I have my first law exam on Wednesday. Four months of torts class captured by a 3 hour, 2 essay exam. It is therefore and thereby reasonably foreseeable that I will negligently consume large quantities of alcoholic beverages on Wednesday evening, so be advised that you should steer clear from my zone of danger. Although from my casebook, it would appear that I will be safe from any dangerous situations as long as I avoid barges and railroads alltogether. But I digress.

Good luck everyone!

Well, Butterfield v. Forrester suggests that it may be you who needs to steer your "zone of danger" away from me, bub.

Good luck!

I got three finals on Monday and another on the following Wednesday. In my American Federal Government, I have to write a six page paper on the independence (or lack) of the military, press, and courts inregards to the federal government. Joy!

Also, I have to finish my "volunteer" work (paper due day of finals) for psych class.

I have my first one Friday afternoon (Community Property) followed by Employment Law (Saturday afternoon) and finishing up with Sales (UCC2) next Monday.

This being my last year, I can not find any motivation to really hit the books hard and am crossing my fingers hoping I don't flunk out with a semester to go.

Good luck to everyone.

Well, that was a damn time trap. 3 hours my ass. I started writing and poof, 5 minute warning. The dean told us if we think we aced the exam, we probably failed, and if we think we bombed, we likely did well and covered what was supposed to be. If that's the case, my score will allow me to start practicing tomorrow....

It is reasonably forseeable that I will not leave the pub today. And to think, I paid 30 grand to feel like this

It gets better, doesn't it? I mean, it has to...

Good luck to those who have finals remaining,

Me, I have a regular test tonight and on Friday, and then a Diff. Eq. final on Wednesday, followed by Comp. Sci. I on the 21st in the morning and then Modeling & Analysis of Uncertainty final in the afternoon. Fortunately, I'm carrying a pretty good A into Comp. Sci. and an extremely strong A into MAU (101.5 test average!!). Diff. Eq., I need A's on each of the last two tests to get an A, and I need an A on my Physics test tonight to get an A in there.

Again, good luck to everyone!

I wouldn't say I miss finals, but I have some fond memories of some of them. It was after the last finals in December 1992 that I went with a group of friends to have a few beers, celebrate the end of another semester. In that group was the future FrogWoman... We've been together since then :)

I had the first "real" exam of my professional career - my first full-blown trial as lead attorney, a two-day job last week representing the plaintiff in a $1.6M lawsuit (nonjury). Not one of those slip-and-falls, either - more like a contract interpretation case with about 10 years of negative history between the parties. That's why I haven't been around much in the past month or so.

I'm not the trial type, but I think it went pretty well.

Not shabby for my first semester in college. :)

3 finals down, 1 more to go (just "Great Books", shouldn't be too tough, just don't feel like writing for 2 hours). The only exam I've gotten back is my Econ "3rd Midterm" which I got a 100 on giving me an A+ for the class. It's a shame that the 4.00 total GPA listed on my grade report right now has nowhere to go but down and most likely will by the end of the week.

Our grades are posted online. One of my profs posted the marks and everything was fine. Two days later, after everyone thought they knew what they got, we receive a mass email telling us that 'the software' screwed up and the marks were wrong. Thanks. Just finished it. They said they liked me, discussed a lot of particulars like when I could start IF they hired me, salary etc... but they said it is between me and someone else with lots of litigation experience. The President told me that they like my background but had some concerns, so it sounds like it comes down to picking the more qualified candidate (the other person) or the candidate they like and have more in common with (me).

The problem with being a graduate is that everyone wants you to have experience. They are going to make their decision this afternoon.

I sat around all afternoon yesterday waiting to hear from them. By about 5 I figured it was a "no" and that I could expect to find a letter in the mail in the future. By 6, my wife and I were pretty bummed and decided to go for a drive. I got up to grab the keys and the phone rang. It was them (6 people interviewed me) on speaker phone wanting to offer me the job. I accepted (so maybe this school thing does pay off) and begin working June 1.

My biggest complaint is that last final (a 48 take home) won't be finished until Thursday the 22nd. Much later than I'm used to staying, but such is life I suppose. Alright, things just got interesting... I'd been planning on anywhere from a 3.2 to a 3.8, because I had a middle-B in one class (Professional Practice, which is basically contract law.)

Just got an e-mail from the professer saying I aced the final (highest grade in the class), and we had a choice before the test to make it worth 1/3 or 1/2 our grade -- I had studied my ass off, so I had done the latter.

So I'd give myself about a 50/50 shot of an A in that class, 50/50 of A in Intro/Structures, and 50/50 of an A in Intro/Tranportation. I already have an A in Intro/Geo., and am hoping/expecting an A in French I.

Could that magical 4.0 be a possibility for this semester? Time will tell...

No finals in two of my classes this semester. I have still three to do next week: Linguistics, History of the English Language, and Literary Criticism. The Linguistics final is going to be the tough as I have to diagram extremely complex sentences. The other two are essay exams that I should well on since they are not any longer than other exams, but I have the full 2 hours to complete. After that hellish week, I have one four week class this summer, so I will be relaxing for nearly three months before I return to class. Plus, I have to take only 12 hours in the fall and I will be student teaching in the spring. :)

I don't have a final in Art Appreciation and that class is basically done for the year.

Finals in Global Origins of the Modern World: History of Islamic Civilizations, British Literature Post 1900, Adolescent Literature, and History of the English Language, though.

I also have my capstone course presentation on Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita, both novel and films on Monday. So basically I'll be spending today, tomorrow, and Sunday writing the 15-20 page paper on it. God, I hate Bhaktin as a literary theorist. As luck would have it, my presentation is first.

I hate going first.

But oh well. This was the nastiest semester I've ever had in terms of difficulty and I'm in good shape to come out with another 3.5 or better. My last semester will be a cakewalk in comparison.

Rather, during finals week I offer an optional, cumulative make-up exam that students can take in an effort to replace their lowest exam score from the semester (including exams they missed and got a zero on - I usually have 3 or 4 exams per class). The make-up score gets thrown out entirely if it is lower than all of their previous exams scores. I usually have about a quarter of each of my classes taking the make-up, so my finals week usually has a relatively light workload.

That said, I've got two more regular exams to give (one of which I need to write from scratch) and two more rounds of papers to grade before we get to finals week. It's crunch time for us professors, too (not that I expect too much sympathy)!

Finished the last two finals today. The Linguistics one was a bitch. I hate diagraming sentences especially since it took a fellow student the night before to help me figure what to look for when diagraming.

Isn't it amazing how the entire weight of the world comes off your shoulders when you've taken your last final of the semester? This has been the first time in months that I don't feel on edge to get something done or study for an exam. I'm just completely relaxed. :)

My History of the English Language (read: Linguistics) turned out not to have a final, so I wound up with a B for the class. I'm not complaining in the least, as linguistics is my weakest area and I was paranoid I was going to get when the class started.

Presentation of capstone paper went pretty well, though I still need to actually finish the last few pages and turn it in, probably tomorrow.

My History of Islamic Civs final today was the easiest final I've ever taken in any course, so I should have a solid A locked up there. Adolescent Lit final tomorrow that should be fairly easy to hopefully nail an A there as well.

I'm still having nightmares about that Brit Lit final and the final paper due for that class, though.

2 down, and 2 to go.

I had Quantitative Methods 252 final last week, basically a business stat class.

Accounting 302 - Was this morning, and a beast of a test.

Tomorrow I have Biology, and I hate that class so much, I don't see why an accountant has any use for botany whatsoever.

And then Friday I have Accounting 305- Cost Accounting, which shouldn't be to bad.

Then its onto summer and finding a job at a local accounting firm.

I have a 5 page paper due by tomorrow afternoon and an 8 am final. I kind of feel some shame, but I'm pretty much phoning it in this semester at the end...I'm in law school, so the motivation isn't there except to pass the tests. I'm trying to save my extra studying burst for the next three years.

2 down, 3 to go!

PS241 - Developmental Psych. - Haven't got my grade yet, but pretty sure I did well

EC333 - Market Organization and Public Policy - Just found out I got the high grade

Still to go:

HI152 - US History since 1865 - This one will be long, but I should do fine.

GE100 - Environmental Science - Just an intro course, should be quite easy

EC391 - International Economics - Easily will be my toughest final, can't say I'm looking forward to. It's also 60% of my grade...eww.
