Soo.... I have to give a 9 min. persuasive final speech for my communications class. I struggled and struggled to come up with a good topic and finally settled on this suggested topic from my friend: why physical education should be mandatory in schools in America. Decent enough topic but overall I'm not completely familair with the situation.

Is this a significant issue? I know schools are dropping things such as band or other extra-curricular activities due to budget constraints and such, but how widespread is the dropping of PE?

Also, does anyone know any good places to find some information about this type of subject? I have to give my speech Friday (I know, last minute blah blah ;) ) and could use some help finding some sources. Dealing with child obesity, who does/doesnt require PE, etc... I need to have 6 diffferent cited sources so any help would be appreciated, as well as opinions on either side of the issue. THanks for any help!!

Sports Illustrated did a big feature on the topic a few weeks ago. It may still be on their site.

Any idea what it was titled? Or who it was by? Thanks!
