Work/dress shoes, especially. I polish them, they immediately scuff. It's ridiculous, pointless, and frustrating. Apparently, I tend to move my feet around when I'm sitting, such that the toes get scuffed so often.
I just put a brand new pair on this morning, and WHAMO, they are already scuffed. Aaaaaaaaargh!

I have the horrible habit of crossing my feet and planting my toes when I sit at my desk. Since my job pretty much entails sitting on my ass at my desk. A nice shine on my shoes lasts about 3 hours. Actually cheaper shoes sometimes make it a day or two.

waiting for MIJB to come in and complain about splintersI've been sitting on my lazy student's ass for a couple of months now. I've got nothing to complain about.

I'm with you, Coug. Big pain.
My recommendation? For between actual shinings, it's a very worthwhile investment to buy one of those quik-shine kits. In fact, you might be able to pick one up at your local Dollar store (http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/forums/showthread.php?t=32845). Well worth the investment -- I frequently use mine just before I have to make a public appearance, since you can't count on a real shine to last more than a half a day or so.
