ESPN News, well Steve Phillips who was reporting it, has just said it was a mistake and they are only negotiating.

I'd bet Wells would intentionally give up homers. Wells is a Yankee for life. Apparently Steve Phillips has backed off and its now just an offer from the Sox to Wells.

I have a feeling the feeling they have for him now is mutual. I don't think the relationship is very good from either side.

Who's feelings about whom? As a Red Sox fan I don't really have strong feelings either way about Wells other than that he's a very portly walking injured reserve waiting to happen at 41. Now if they went after someone like that smirking overrated weasel Jeter, then we'd have a problem.

If being one of the top 5 players at your position in the league is overrated count me in. Phillips has backed way off this one. The host asked him if Wells is a Red Sox and he responded by saying he's on their radar and they've made an offer, but he's also on the Indians radar.

No, I mean the Yankees arn't too fond of Wells any more after game 6 2 years ago and I have a feeling the feeling is mutual.

The Pads forum had him definitely re-signing. Hope that means the Pads will go after a good #3 starter in FA.

It's funny - the Yankees had TWO of the top 5 players at that position, but all it bought them was the worst collapse in Major League baseball history.

I love Red Sox fans. All it "bought" them? Do we really need to have this argument again? Its not like 90+% of the Sox team wasn't acquired.

I know he did, but they dumped his ass following the series, i'm sure hes gotta hold a grudge. I know alot of people in the organazition and team blame him for going out there injured.

Not a Red Sox fan, thanks. But yes, I would suggest the $40+ million the Yankees devoted to their shortstops didn't really pan out, correct? The Red Sox have less money, but a shrewder front office and it paid off this year. Sure, the Red Sox have a large payroll, but I find it hysterical that it bugs Yankee fans so much that throwing a little more money at the problem isn't necessarily the solution.
