The troll/quitting threads seem to occur every several weeks. So could someone fill me in on a few questions I have always had...

1. Has someone who publicly quit to a bunch of fanfare ever really stayed away? I remember quite a few people quitting over disagreements only to return about 2 days later during the "fun" August/November political sweeps period. (The only real loss I ever remember who quit was Devaneyfan due to Hornsmaniac's reign of terror)

2. For those who complain about being banned and not being able to keep up with FOF, are you not aware that everyone on the internet can view the board as an unregistered user? (Or maybe I am wrong, if you are banned does some banned message come up when you try to look at the board?)

3. It is really that hard to just come back as someone else? I have about 4 different e-mail accounts from totally different sources. If Skydog banned panerd can't I just come back as Hawksfan28 under a different e-mail address? Or is my technical expertise really lacking on this one?

1. I dunno, some people do not come back no.

2. You cn view the board, but not post or do a search.

3. Skydog can see your I.P. address and know it's you. Unless you move...:D

It is possible to trace IP addresses so, no, you can't easily re-register from another email account.

It would be superhardcore if you couldnt see the forum if you were trying to access from a banned/bad IP addy.

SkyDog has said before that if a person waited a bit, then registered as a new user and acted normal that he'd probably never catch them.

the problem is that most of those who get banned are banned for a reason. They can't easily switch to acceptable board behavior.

During the Mr. Buttercup incident in the spring of 2003 I was banned for a night mistakenly and was unable to see anything on the forum. I would get a message saying something to the effect that my IP address was unable to access the forum.

Mr. Buttercup incident?

He was a friend of mine who came onto the board and starting causing a lot of trouble. I'm sure if you searched for buttercup on the board you could find the threads in which he was involved.
