Okay guys my 12 year old is getting Xbox and i am starting to look into Xbox live. We have cable internet and our new house we move into in February will be networked throughout. I could use advice on what extras i might need and what those who are playing it now think. My son is into the RPG hack and slash stuff while i prefer the sports simulations. Any opinions, reviews, or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

cub, you'll be okay as both Sega and ESPN have their full line of sports games online. Your son, on the other hand, is gonna have a little rougher time of it, as there aren't any online hack-and-slashers on Xbox just at the moment. There are a couple on PS2, but Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (1 & 2), etc, are strictly offline on Xbox.

As far as extras go, for Live, that depends entirely on whether you intend to play online together or not. If you do, picking up "TeamTalk" so both of you can use a headset on one account, or getting one account for each of you, would be a good idea. TeamTalk is cheaper, by about $50.

Is your whole house networked via wires or wireless network? If it is the latter, you will need to purchase a wireless adapter for your X-Box to receive the signal.
