I'm moving baaaaaack to the USA!

Well, FOFC is going to lose a little bit of its international flair as its sole (I think) resident of Belgium is moving back to the States tomorrow. It's been an amazing three years here in the land of beer, frites, and chocolate and though I wouldn't trade the experience for the world, it will nice to finally be back home. I'd highly recommend anyone who has the opportunity to live abroad for a few years to do so. It's a great experience.

Though I've been pretty lucky with sports here (been to a Manchester/Arsenal game and went the European Championships in Portugal this summer), it will nice to finally be able to watch football at a reasonable hour. In fact, on Sunday I am heading over to my brother's house and will be watching some 12 straight hours of football NFL Sunday Ticket style (never experienced the Sunday Ticket before). Then comes basically a college bowl game every day of the week. I may OD on it all. Then again, the timing of the NHL lockout couldn't be worse. This makes me sad and unhappy. :(

I'm going to head back to Michigan for a few weeks and will head out to the Lions/Bears game and a Pistons game or two. Then Lady H_B and I are going to be moving back to the Washington, DC area. I lived there for a year and a half, but that was three years ago so I am sure things have changed. Anyone who may have any info or insight about the DC area (places accessible to DC via the metro) please pass the word. I'll also be in the market for a new (most likely slightly used) car, so thoughts on that would also be appreciated.

Heh, very funny ideed. Circle of life and all that... Looking for apartment/town house type situation. Ideally we would like to live within walking distance from a metro, shops, restaurants, and a grocery store. We've gotten used to not having to rely on a car for these things. At the moment sort of thinking either Old Town/Alexandria or perhaps Capitol Hill (where I lived before).

We have been focusing more on Capitol here and Northern Virginia, but we certainly wouldn't be opposed to some place along the red line in Maryland would work. We're looking to rent at the moment. If you see anything or know of anything it'd be great.

Ideally we're looking for a two bedroom place, hardwood floors, maybe a little outdoor spot if possible.

Hardwood would be hard to find around this area, but I know a place called Kingfarm (http://www.kingfarm.com/) that is right off the redline shady grove station. Its nice, they have 2 Bedroom deals (1100-1300 Sq Ft) for about 1,400/month. Downtown Bethesda is real nice, but very expensive. Not sure about NoVa, but check out rent.com, apartmentguide.com, apartments.com.
