Donavon Darius hit on Robert Ferguson

Absolutely disgusting- he clothslined Ferguson (who had jumped up for a catch) at his neck, and knocked of the helmet. Ferguson hasn't gotten up yet. Wanna bet ESPN will feature it on "JACKED UP" ?

Darius just got ejected from the game - good start. Even the Jacksonville players are angry at Darius. There's a stretcher on the field- he appears to be unconcious.

I just think it speaks volumes about the fans in Green Bay that they didn't throw anything when Darius went off the field. Imagine him having to run through the dog pound or something.

Meh- Its a basic act of being a fan. I dont think they out to be commended for not throwing things .

Didnt see that- fair enough. Stroud was definitely screaming at him. And ya, I think they threw him out due to the crowd reaction and after seeing it on the big board.

My guess is they threw him out after Ferguson didn't get up. He should have been thrown out right away though IMO. It will be interesting to see how much the league fines/suspensions will be.

Actually, I think they tossed him soon after the play. They were on the sideline explaining to Jack Del Rio about it soon after and Darius left the field before the refs announced that he was tossed. I think he was thrown out soon after, but they didn't announce it until explaining to the coach.

As for the Tatum - Stingley comments. IIRC Tatum didn't lay Stingley out with a clothesline, he drilled him with his helmet and shoulder pads. I somehow remember categorizing Tatum's hit as brutal, but not Illegal. Perhaps it is just the Raider fan of my youth talking.

Darius apparently claimed that he was swinging at the ball as Ferguson caught it. In the live video the hit is delivered right after the ball arrives. The still photo doesn't really depict that. I don't know if it was a blatant cheapshot as it appears, but he certainly deserves what the league dishes out.

As someone who watched it live, I agree. It was a brutal, unnecessary hit. You swat the ball with your hands, not your forearm, and he was not aiming for the football in any case. He wrapped that arm around and dragged him down.

Darius should be gone for the season (including playoffs) after that shot.

I liked the hit. I did not like the result, and the ejection was appropriate. I don't think Darrius meant to do what he did. He made a hit at full speed, which is nearly impossible to be exact with your aim on a hit. If he was 6 inches lower and caught Ferguson in the chest, we'd all be talking about one of the best hits we've ever seen.

Good for him. Sure the hit is illegal today, but that definitely was some quality old school tackling.
