i tought before on pokerstars you can play with real money or play money.


did it change? is it only play money now?

I didn't even know they had play money tournaments at PokerStars. Do you see real money cash games if you press the "Hold'em" or "Omaha" buttons above the table listing?

I asked a question about pokerstars.net and pokerstars.com a few weeks ago. It's entirely possible that pokerstars.net doesn't offer real money games (although I don't know). Maybe try uninstalling what you have and downloading the software from pokerstars.com instead. It's the same software that's run by the same people, but there could be that "subtle" difference.

pokerstars.net was set up to allow advertising. you cant advertise real money poker on tv so they set up the .net site that doesnt say anything about using real money. of course when you download the software, the real money options are all over the place, but you shouldnt be able to find anything mentioning it on the .net site for the legal reasons. the pokerstars.com site is totally different (and not advertised for that reason)

Check out freefiftydollars.com tho, follow the steps and you can get 75 bucks for Party poker rather easily(takes a few days)

the next question you will likely have is how to deposit money into your account. It wont take your credit card likely, so you need to go somewhere like www.neteller.com and set up there. You gotta go through 3rd party to put real money into your account. It costs about 54 bucks after fees to put 50 into your pokerstars account. If you dont have some attachment to pokerstars, some other places offer better signup bonus's then they do.

Many banks do not want their credit cards being used for "gaming" purposes. You can try your credit card, but most major US banks will refuse the transaction. It's worth a shot, and you don't lose anything if it fails, but I would suggest an alternate method. Neteller takes a few days to get things started, but www.firepay.com (http://www.firepay.com) can have you set up in a matter of minutes, at least it could when I started. They pull from a checking account rather than from a credit card, though. I don't know if that would be a problem for you or not.
