FOF:TCY Color codes in the recruits screen

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if the colors of the recruits names indicate interest in your school? I am going with the assumption that green indicates a interest in your school, black means not interested at all, and red and blue various levels in between.

That's about right. Green (most probable) then Blue, Red, and Black. But don't ignore the black, a few great players have signed with my horrible teams even when they are black-listed.

The "fit" rating is more important in determining how likely a recruit would be to visit your school and possibly commit. The color-coding seems to be more of an indication of how highly the recruit values himself relative to your school's prestige rating. When I start off careers at low-prestige schools, I go after a lot of black or red coded guys, provided that:

1. The fit rating is high (i.e. 80's or higher);
2. One or more preferences favor my school;
3. They're local and it's relatively inexpensive to visit them frequently and often

The color-coding also should give you some idea of how quickly a recruit will consent to visit your school. Green guys given scholarship offers and requests for visits will generally decide to visit your school right away, while black and red coded guys will likely wait quite a while, weighing their other offers.

Y'all have left out one key point: once your team's Prestige is above a certain level (around 85 or so, if I recall), you can completely ignore those coded black. At that level, the only ones coded black will be the ones whose majors your school doesn't offer.

Thanks for the replies it certainly helped.

I am running Boston College at the Starting Lineup (second from the hardest) till I get used to the game. BC is not the easiest school to start with but it is not the most difficult either. The prestige is not too great (79) which hurts a little, but the academics is in the top 20 in most subjects which certainly helps alot.

And you are right it is WAAAAY cool. I just got a commitment letter from the number 2 corner in the nation!!

My first impression of TCY v1.3 is that Academics have definately been toned down. Not a lot, but it's noticable. I restarted a career as the head coach of Mississippi State and am struggling to gain wins in my 5th year. I still recruit heavily on test scores, but by this point in a normal career, I'd be turning that corner already. Now I'm wondering when I will turn that corner....if ever.

It's a fun game still, but I admit I only play a year every week or two. I'm still heavy into FOF 5.1 SP with 4 different leagues going on.
