View Full Version : What did Moss do?

I admit it. I live under a rock. I live in a world where what Randy Moss did has no imact on my life. I live in a world where Nicole Richie should not be known. I live in a world where my life is more important than the privilaged idiots of society mean nothing...
But during this game they keep talking about what Randy Moss did, but not saying what he actually did. This is beginning to bug the living hell out of me. It obviously wasn't anything so severe that he would have been suspended or arrested without bail. What the hell did he do?

What did he just do now? I was looking at FM, and missed the "classlass act after his last touchdown." I just heard the apology for it being shown on live TV.

NOW he did something really dumb. What the hell kind of celebration was that?
If anyone in this league deserves to get clotheslined ala Donovan Darrius it is Moss for that B.S. The Pack should take the 15 yard hit and go head hunting...

He walked over to the goalpost, bent over, and played like he was pulling down his pants and mooning the crowd.
This is the type of shit the NFL is asking for by turning the game int "touch" football. 30 years ago if someone tried to act like this they would have been killed the next time they went on the field. And the refs would have just shrugged their shoulders...

I would like a new rule in the NFL.
Whenever a player says "I have to feed my family", as Randy Moss said in his interview with Jimmy Johnson as justification for walking off the field last week, he should have his game check replaced with the typical salary for a blue collar worker in his home town.
Unless, of course, he's so dumb that he thinks everyone in America with the last name of Moss is part of his family. Maybe then he'd struggle to feed his family.

Any advantage that Lambeau has had for GB has been completely removed under Mike Sherman's watch. Since he's been coach, this team has been 2-2 at home in the playoffs and seen its home regular season record slowly get worse and worse. It takes quite an effort to remove a decade of positive history at Lambeau, but Mike Sherman has shown he is up to that task.

Agree 100%. I missed the play and then heard Joe Buck talk about how digusted he was, you would have thought he gave the full moon or a crotch chop or the one finger salute. Now the idiot 4 (well credit to Jimmy Johnson as he doesn't really think it is that big of a deal) are carrying on about it. Come on guys, he is immature. Watching the "offensive" replay 3 times during the postgame didn't change my life. Or effect the children, the poor children!

Yea, whats up with the "I have to feed my family" or "I have to provide for my family" crap? How big can these guys families be? I would love to see a interviewer just say, "Oh, I feel so sorry for your children. If you didn't complain about your contract and get that $20 million bonus your kids wouldn't be able to eat that endangered California condor."

Okay, I'm sure it'll get me accused of being a bed-wetting, excuse-making, leftist liberal but ... If I've ever seen the talking heads make a mountain out of a molehill, the Fox crew after this game might be it. Look, just say that you friggin' hate Randy Moss because he makes more money than you or he's more popular than some of you were or whatever, but the way they're crying over the brief post-TD celebration, you'd think that he jacked off in the Pope's hat or squatted on Halas' grave or something. So is he allowed to do it to the fans on every side of the stadium before someone says something?
Early in the game they showed a shot of him on the sidelines and he was looking up towards the crowd, pointing to the scoreboard, and I clearly read ' the score mother fucker' on his lips.

You know, I'm not trying to play the race card or anything, but...
Moss is getting fried for making a dumb gesture (and not really that obscene).
I saw Brett Favre throw TWO punches at a guys head in the third quarter during some brouhaha, and NOTHING happened to him. No flag. No penalty. No comment from Buck and Co. No suspension. No fine. Nothing.
I thought for sure he was gonna get ejected for throwing a punch. But, nothing.
Meanwhile, Moss lights up the Pack and has a little fun with the drunken asses at Lambeau who were shouting obscenities at him all game long, and he's the second coming of Satan or something.

His act was certainly as if not more inflamitory than TO on the Dallas Star at midifeld. It is about disrespecting your opponents and their fans. I would not let it stand in my home stadium. I would put a hit on him. He would go down. The same as in baseball. The fact of the matter is that he should not have done it at all. There is no reason that that particular celebration would need to take place. How the hell is that celebrating your personal or team accomplishment of scoring a TD? It's not. Smack during the game is part of it. I would put this on the level of Pro Wrestling. Fooball does not need to go the way of Pro Wrestling, it is not part of the game.

I realize professional sports is entertainment, but this kind of stuff still bothers me for the simple reason that is exhibits incredibly poor sportsmanship. Celebration is one thing, but taunting really has no place in sports.

I agree wholeheartedly.
The thing I find funny about this thread is how a discussion of what he did on the field becomes debated by saying "He's one of the most talented wide receivers ever." Yes, he is. He is a singular and amazing talent. But he is also classless.

I am talking raw physical ability. If you take the physical traits scouts/GMs are looking for in a WR, Moss would grade out almost perfect. I don't think you can say that about any other player. He would certainly grade out (again, in physical ability) better than Jerry Rice.
Now, mind you, I hate the guy. I think he is an immature prick, and wish his antics would have some serious consequences. I just think that when he wants to be, he is the only player in the league (in fact, the only player I have ever seen) who is completely unstoppable. Good pass, bad pass, doesn't matter, Randy can go get the ball against any DB in the league.
I also thought Joe Buck's call of the 'mooning' was out of proportion with what he did. I did not see the play live, but I heard his call, and was convinced that Moss had actually pulled his pants down and mooned the crowd.

You should see Joe Buck next to an overturned 3 ounce tumbler of 2%.

Fox and ESPN would never show that! Thank goodness for their moral resolve.

ESPN News refuses to show the tape of Moss... BUT they'll show the TO Monday night opening over and over again.

FOX: The only network that has the BALLS to show you Randy Moss pretending to pull his pants down!

I just saw on the news that Tony Dungy said that Green Bay fans have a tradition of mooning opposing teams buses as they leave after Green Bay victories. I vote this part of information a crucial detail that "expert" former players such as Howie Long, Tom Jackson, etc. have neglected to mention.
To me, not only is the whole issue changed 180 degrees but I beleive it has completly resolved itself. (To me it is now like players mocking the Denver mile-high salute or Jamal Anderson's dirty bird) Moss was most definitely playing along with what seems to be a fan vs. player joke. What horseshit that this takes a full day for somebody to bring up.

Tom Jackson, Howie Long et al are company jackasses. I wouldn't expect much from any of them.
Boomer Esiason is the only one I respect out of pretty much all of them.
I loved the Moss comment in the post game on field interview...something like
"I don't know about that but I know we beat their ass!" and he runs off.

Say what you will. I know the guy is probably the most talented WR in the game, but offer him to the highest bidder for a functional starting WR and a play-making defender. He's an embarassment and not the type of player I want on my team.

We should start calling him Ayn Randy Moss because of all this of his assholic attitude. :D
In all fairness to Ayn Rand, her ideal man was quite unlike Moss in that the idea man wouldn't even bother to care about the public.
Ahh, you just can't have a good Randy Moss debate these days without an Ayn Rand/Atlas Shrugged comparison.

Well, I think he's probably the best WR of all-time, so I think embarrassment is a harsh word.
I'm still not convinced he is better than T.O.

And of course, Peyton Manning pulled his pants down for real, and he's still America's golden boy...

He pantomined pulling his pants down and wiping his ass on the Green Bay goalpost.
I'm someone who enjoys Terrell Owens' creativity. Randy Moss is a fool. An incredibly talented fool. Makes you want to root against the Vikings.
Does this mean we will have creative touchdown celebrations in FOF6?

Was it just me or did Joe Buck seem a lot more offended than anyone else at that game?

...and he is tight with Leon!

Maybe that's why he was so pissed off. The next Leon commercial was going to involve mooning but Randy beat them to the punch.

Saw the incident for the first time last night (there was soccer on at the weekend, so I skipped the playoffs). What a storm about nothing.
Now if he'd did something like this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4158591.stm), then I'd understand what all the fuss was about
(Work safe link, it's BBC news.)

I really like Joe Buck, but after listening the replay on the JT radio show, I would say, yes.. wayyyy out of proportion. Was Joe ever a kid?
