The Red Sox had the Curse of the Bambino, Sports Illustrated has its Cover Curse, but could the Campbell's Chunky Soup Curse be the New England Patriots' ticket to Super Bowl XXXIX?
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie phenom Ben Roethlisberger currently is appearing in commercials for the soup. And coincidentally - or not! - the Man of Steel suffered a rib injury. Pittsburgh's QB is the seventh NFL player afflicted with bad karma after doing the soup ad, notes sportsblogger Dan Lewis.
Previous victims include Terrell Davis, who retired after a knee injury; Reggie White, who retired with a bad back; Kurt Warner, who was injured then run out of St. Louis; Roethlisberger's teammate Jerome Bettis and Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, both injured after shilling for soup; and Brian Urlacher, who also got hurt - and even worse - got stuck playing for the Bears!
Please, Tom Brady, we know you love the extra dough, but if Campbell's calls - hang up!
