...on how much recruits weigh their "preferences" (acad/dist/pres) versus potential playing time? I just lost an Acad/Dist recruit to Southern Miss. It wasn't so much that I lost him, but that he also didn't sign with Wisconsin or Miami (FL), who he was also visiting. Southern Miss had a big, fat 7 Academic Rating in his major, Miami had 71, and Wisconsin had 96. Also, he was from Olive Branch, MS, so Southern Miss is half again as far away as Tuscaloosa.

Did he idolize a school?

dola, I've never asked, but are recruiting preferences absolute? Is it 66% academic and 33% distance, or are they a sliding scale? Could it just be 41% academic, 32% distance, and 27% prestige? Perhaps idolization is a trump card along with playing time, or maybe a multiplyer.

No, he didn't idolize anyone.

Easy, what you asked in your dola is one of the things I'm wondering about. A sliding scale would be better, if that is the case. Of course, it still wouldn't explain why this guy didn't sign with 'Bama, as we had better academics, prestige, and we were closer. There's definitely randomness built in, which is a good thing.

I'm assuming you had some pretty good young guys at his position, I assume?

I'm assuming you had some pretty good young guys at his position, I assume?I have a true freshman in his redshirt year who is rated 14/24. However, I'm starting a second-year guy rated 27/77. The recruit was rated 80+. Maybe he wanted to play immediately?

What types of players does Southern Miss have? How's the coordinators at the schools? Whats the offenses (I don't think this matters at all, just wondering)?
