I'm sure we've all googled our own names by now. Well, when I did that, I found that some "writer" (aka college kid) has been using my name as his main character in some series of crap stories. So I just wrote him and told him if he doesn't stop using my name, I'm going to start writing bad stories about some character using his name.
Coupled with the fact that I checked my name on Friendster, and there's like 4 more me's there, too!
Can't tell you why I'm upset, but come on. I don't like there being another me out there. At the same age. Responding to the same name I do when roll is taken (or was taken, when that was an issue).
There may be some girl out there saying my name is the worst lay she's ever had. What if I meet her best friend, and she thinks I suck in bed, even though it's another me??
And so on.

that's true. there is a world of upside to this I never considered.
i feel like i should write my whole life story down, and give it to this other me. then, if something should happen to me, he could step right in, and no one would miss a beat.
it's actually like i have my own understudy. hmmm...

Geez dude, let the poor colege kid alone ... noone cares what your name is or do they care he used it in a book. Maybe you should step away from the computer, walk outside, look around theirs 1 billion people on this planet.
Get a hobby, go watch a movie, leave some college kid alone with your jibberish.

01-19-2005, 04:46 AM
I have run into a couple of other Axxon's too and it only bothers me when I can't use it as a sign in name. Thing is, Axxon is a made up name that I used in a story 20 years ago. I've even found some lost friends who saw the name and remembered the story and asked if I was me. If I put that story online I guess I'd get some of the duplicate Axxon's sending me the same type of email thinking I'd copied them. The irony.
Axxon
01-19-2005, 04:48 AM
dola, I guess many people made up the name actually. I googled Axxon and found out it's also the name of several companies.
Man, all these S.O.B.'s copying me. :D

hey, I'm also a writer for USA Today! nice!!
i think it would be great to have a "me" convention. just get as many of us together as possible, preferably at a bar that checks IDs very strictly. wonder if they would get suspicious if like 30 people with the same name showed up.
then we could all swap wives or something.

Justice comes to Rite Aid's Franklin Brown
Accounting Today, November, 2003 by J. Edward Ketz
On October 17, a federal jury in Harrisburg, Pa., convicted the former chief counsel of Rite Aid, Franklin Brown, on 10 counts, including conspiracy to falsely inflate the earnings of Rite Aid and lying to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
This verdict constitutes the first conviction of a corporate executive following the massive wave of corporate scandals that hit the business world in 2001 and 2002. As such, this welcome news serves notice to the remaining corporate crooks that justice is coming.
To recap: Last year, the SEC filed charges against Rite Aid's former CEO, Martin Grass, ...
What's funny is that I used to work for Rite-Aid when PCS HealthSystems was a subsidiary of that company... I used to get his e-mail all the time.

When I was in college there was another guy named Steve McClure listed in the phone book. We often got each others calls. Shortly after my first marriage, my wife got a call from the other fellow's aunt, who was very surprised that he had been married. They talked for nearly half an hour.

I have been told many times that hits are directed to the music sites that I show up on from someone searching my name (not common, but easy to spell correctly when they have the record cover) in one of the engines.
I had never searched my name on Google or Yahoo until reading all this, and sure enough they start popping up.

Common last name, uncommon first name. I know there's a school named after me somewhere down south. I was in the same class as someone else at UW with my name. I used to get some of his junk mail, especially early in the school year after our addresses changed. Hopefully he never got anything important of mine. He wrote a column for one of the school newspapers, and I often wrote letters to the editor. We probably confused some readers.
Last time I googled my name, it came up with a lot of stats and articles for a pro soccer player, and a college golfer.

Military Weapons Historian
A Booster Club President of some club ice hockey team in Hamilton, Ontario
A Producer of some other cheesy sounding play
