Most frustrating moments as sports fans

There are two things that just kill me as I am watching sports:

1.) Your team makes a huge stop on an important third down, only to have it called back because of a five yard penalty that includes an automatic first down. Especially annoying if it is something like hands to the face by a guy who had no impact on the play at all.

2.) Your basketball team is leading late, but cannot make free throws down the stretch and loses the lead/game.


There are lots and lots of things that can cause us to want to get up and punch the TV, but these two are my personal super pet-peeves. Especially #1.

On a more macro level, knowing your team's coach sucks and is never going to get it done, but you have to wait out his tenure... just being in that crappy "waiting till they finally fire this guy so I can finally have some hope again" purgatory. Ugh.

1-Constantly stopping an opposing team on first and 2nd down, then giving up a big play on third and long.

2-Getting a huge turnover, then giving the ball back on the next play.

3-Loading the Bases with no outs, and not scoring a run.

4-Having to deal with Red Sox fans until the next World Series.

You're team just stopped the opposition on 4th and goal with seconds left only to have one of your defensive players decide to play Ali / Frazier with the quarterback and give the other team a chance to score.


Your opponents just missed a field goal with seconds left that would have wone the game. Only to find that there was a false start penalty called just before the snap and you get to watch the kicker make the longer kick to win the game.


The 9th inning is starting and your team's manager feels that he needs to take out the pitcher who has been mowing down your opposition just to bring the closer in (because that's how it has to work, right?).

In football, when teams that become "Dynasties" make their name by beating your team where the victories can be directly attributed to missed calls by the officials. For example: receivers tipping the ball to each other without a defender touching the ball or fumbles that are ruled incomplete passes.

I hate it when your favorite basketball team hits a game winning 3 pointer and the refs call it a 3 on the spot, except then the refs decide to look at a replay to make sure it was a three. Then despite the video evidence showing it was a 3 pointer, the refs change it to a 2 and then your team loses in overtime. I HATE that. Not that that ever happened (LCOUGH SCOUGH UCOUGH)

Probably when a manager hands a pitcher a game ball in the 7th inning of the 6th game of a World Series, and the bullpen blows it, and you realize your team will never win shit as long as you are alive.

Oh yeah, I forgot, landing the number 1 QB recruit in the nation (Ben Olson) having him go on a mission (Ben Olson) then return and announce he will keep his college options open (Ben Olson) before he finally decides to take his Ball and go play for UCLA (Ben Olson) instead of honoring his commitment and taking on the challenge of helping to restore the glory to your Program (Ben Olson)

That has never happened to a team I like, but if it did I would definitely have to say fuck you Ben Olson. ;)
