View Full Version : Should T.O. Play in the SB?

I'd play him, but only in goal line situations where all he has to do is run five yards. New England would have to respect his ability in the end zone until he would prove himself unfit to play. Hell, you might even have to double team him... At the very least it would help free up other options. By only bringing him in in goal line situations you keep him from getting hurt while trying to run 50 yards when the ball doesn't even come to him.

Who cares. He's succeeding in making the Superbowl all about him though.

I can't see him being much of a factor on the field.

during player presentations, they should introduce him, then "the rest of the Eagles!!!" :D

He should come in being carried by servants like sultan.

I hope he plays and gets a career-ending injury. :)

And the Eagles still lose.

I don't care much for T.O. (although I don't particularly hate him or anything), but I don't like the Eagles, and I think they're going to get pounded by the Patriots, and it doesn't matter if T.O. plays. Hell, they could conjure up the 1991 versions of Reggie White and Randall Cunningham, and still lose by three touchdowns.

That said, if I'm T.O., I'm playing. Because it's damned hard and damned rare to get to a Super Bowl. You have to treat it like it could be your last shot ever.

If T.O. can help, play him. I don't think he can help...and I think he could hurt them. Randy Moss was almost a detriment on the field for the Vikes against the Eagles. That is kind of what I'm picturing here.

As a Patriots fan, I hope he plays, sucks, and creats dissention within the ranks, helping the Patriots to the title. :)

I think he already is, they've got to be sick to death of answering questions about him by now.

I have a friend named Ted O'Reilly, and I definitely don't think he should play in the superbowl.

I certainly hope he plays, even though not at 100%, because a 50% T.O is better than most starting WR in the league.
His playing would give the Eagles a tremendous confidence boost just "knowing that he's with them on the field".

Injured or not, he is a force to be reckoned with.
And also, being a 49er fan myself, I'd like to see Owens win the SuperBowl even though he is not going to do it with San Francisco.

I think he should attempt to play. I ripped John Abraham for packing it in and not attempting to help his team. If he is able to practice then he should try and play. If he tries to play and is not able to go, fine. But the idea of just packing it in until next year especially since this is the Super Bowl just seems to be anti-football to me

Yes, EagleFan chose his login name back in Nov 2000 in anticipation that over four years later, the Eagles would make the Super Bowl and he could then jump on the bandwagon.

Now that I've gotten my morning gut-buster out of the way I can proceed with the rest of my day.

Have your lips recovered or are the Pats' asses chapped?

Everyone is clearly out to get this guy. For 99.9% of players, we'd be talking about how "tough" they were if they played in this game given the same circumstances. But in T.O.'s case I've heard lots of media and fans say that he's being selfish or hogging the spotlight by trying to play.

I understand where he's coming from. He may never get here again, if you have a shot at playing, do it. What I just don't understand is why this makes him a villian while it would make practically any other player a hero.

He has himself to thank for that based on his public perception...created solely by TO himself.

If he's 50% no way he should set foot on the field.

I'd have to agree with rkmsuf in the "hero" vs "villain" characterisation of TO. He is a drama queen and has brought most of it on himself, all by himself...
