Ping: Jacksonville Area Residents

Looks like I'm going to be in your neck of the woods from Thursday to Sunday, and for most of Thursday night and almost all of Friday I won't have much to do other than check out the city. Anyone have any suggestions, can't miss sites/restaurants/attractions, or anything at all for me to do while I'm there?

The trip I got to the Super Bowl is all-expenses-paid, but the itinerary is quite bare until Saturday, and my little brother (taking the place of my dad) will not be able to make it to Jacksonville until Saturday morning, so I'm going to be all by my lonesome for a few days. I have a rental car, so traveling is possible.

Basically, his boss is an asshole. I posted a bit in the other thread about it (just found out about it), but his boss (knowing full well about the trip, as he's the one that handed it out) simply won't let him go because he doesn't want him away from work for four days.

alright a quick list of things to do:

Atlantic Beach area (Ragtime/Sundog/etc.)
All of the shit at the Landing (the landing used to suck but apparently with the super bowl coming through they spent time improving it)
Southside bar scene
World Golf Village (40minutes south)
St. Augustine (40 minutes south but on the beach)
Mayport deep sea fishing (it might be packed out)


What especially sucks is IM IN DENVER!!!! I got sent to denver until Friday night. The one week there si shit to do (NFL experience and shit) in Jville and Im in Denver...at elast there is snow.

Anyrecommendations for Denver the DTC area?

My dad is a high muckety-muck at a Mercedes-Benz/Porsche dealership. I never remember exactly what it is he does, but he basically runs the whole dealership. He started working there within the last couple of years -- I'm pretty sure he hasn't been there more than 2 years. I really wish there was something I could do, but it's pretty much entirely out of my hands.

Okay, I gotta say after reading the first bits of the Dynasty thread, that the boss isn't coming off as anywhere near as much of a jerk as these threads made him out to be. Didn't realise that someone else allowed the car dealership to give these away, those people ended up having to back out, and then the dealership had to scramble to find someone to take the trip. Very different from "boss gives dad a trip to the Super Bowl but won't let him go" this started out as.

I can say that I sold cars for four years, and there is little sense in the industry. It is safe to assume that when you have a crappy time buying a car, it is equally as crappy to sell one.
