A group of very wealthy investors have joined forces to establish the newest boxing counsel in the world. The Boxing World Champions Organization, or the BWC for short, promises to be revolutionary.

This group of men are very wealthy and all have a deep appreciation for the sport of boxing, but have been very dismayed with the direction the sport has taken in recent times, hence their idea of the BWC.

The BWC will opens its door on January 1, 2005 in New York City, home of its headquarters. Scouts have been traveling the world over in search of the best and brightest young boxing talent, and there are some very specific rules to being a part of this organization.

1) No boxer who has ever fought under the sanction of any other organization is eligilbe. This means all fighters will be first time professionals.

2) These investors are sick and tired of dirty promoters, selfish managers, the drugs, the outrageous behavior of fighters, and everything else, so boxers are on their own, with no outside interference.

3) The BWC wants to generate a buzz among the younger generation, to find new fans and new fighters. Hence, all the fighters brought into the organization will be young, generally 17-22 years old.

4) A fighter must be competative. No wins in 4 consecutive fights means you go elsewhere for work.

5) A fighters purse winnings will be an important part of their career history and will be tracked appropriately.

6) The BWC will begin with 16 fighters and more 'rookies' will be added at appropriate times. The organization does not want to expand too fast and go beyond their means.

The BWC has announced that they will hold an all day event, a 16 man double elimination endurance tournament on January 1 in Madison Square Garden. There were dozens of great fighters from which the WBC had to choose from, and it was difficult to narrow the field down to 16, but here they are:

Luis Barrage, Spain, 20 years old
Frederick Damon, US, 18 years old
Gennaro Danut, Germany, 17 years old
Spyro Demetrios, Greece, 18 years old
Magnus Fahd, Iran, 20 years old
Alfred Germano, US, 20 years old
Randall Grax, US, 17 years old
Foulke Ingvar, Denmark, 21 years old
Claude Juvenal, France, 19 years old
Bronte Lazar, Parts Unknown, Age guessed at 22 years old
Ron Lennon, UK, 17 years old
Simon Nicholas, US, 20 years old
Jack Ridley, US, 18 years old
Munro Ulises, US, 22 years old
Simba Wawryzniec, Poland, 18 years old
Gib Wilmot, US, 19 years old

Along the way, we will learn about the fighters through the following personalities (which my dumb browser erased fighter writeups for already, nice.)

Boxing Expert: Terrance Roadbuster
Boxing Commentator: Michjo Peters
BWC Hopeful Fighter: Oskar Jools
BWC Partner: Jochem Martti

Round 1 Recap from Boxing Commentator Michjo Peter:

Fight #1 Simon Nicholas controlled the fight for the majority of the 10 round. Ron Lennon lost his legs in the 9th round and couldn't go the distance, getting knocked out in the 10th and final round. Lennon gave it all he had, but Nicholas was the btter fighter by far tonight.

Fight #2 Just as I expected, Jack Ridley layed the lumber on Ingvar. The younf man from Denmark was TKO'd in the 3rd round. A huge statement win for Ridley early on in the tournament, and making quick work of this fight gives him some extra rest now.

Fight #3 This fight went the distance and while Barrage had some nice rounds, he was just out-pointed by Ulises, who took the unanimous decision in this 10 round bout.

Fight #4 Spyro was the heavy favorite in this fight, and one of the favorites to win this thing. While he did get the win and it was unanimous, I think Spyro raised more questions about his skills than he answered. He struggled a bit in this fight, and we all thought he would have a much easier time than he did. Give credit to Damon for staying in it.

Fight #5 Lazar played with the overmatched Danut for 5 rounds and then turned in on in the 6th for the win by Knockout. Lazar looked silky smooth in this fight and already people want to see a Ridley/Lazar fight.

Fight #6 As expected, a great fight, with both fighters giving and taking the best they had to offer. Wilmot swung the momentum to his side with a devistating uppercut in the fifth round that knocked Fahd down, and them finished him off in the 6th round with a knockout. Impressive win , but a tough to swallow loss for Fahd, who had high hopes.

Fight #7 Grax made quick work of the Polish fighter, Wawryzniec, with a knockout victory in round 4. The Pole is an intimidating fighter, but went down like a ton of bricks with a few well placed punched. Great fight plan for Grax made people sit up and take notice of him.

Fight #8 The fight was never in doubt here. Juvenal worked Germano over for 9 rounds before getting the surprise KO late in the 10th round. Almost a picture perfect fight for the Frenchman, but he said he was a bit disappointed that he didn't knock him out earlier in the fight.

2nd Round preview from our experts:

Fight #9 Simon Nichols vs. Jack Ridley

Terrance Roadbuster: Ridley was impressive in his first fight, while Nicholas had to go the distance, however, don't count Simon out. Ridley appeared very cocky following his match and had this to say: “I am already looking forward to the finals. Did you SEE me out there?”

Fight #10 Munro Ulises vs. Spyro Demetrios

Terrance Roadbuster: Demetrios was unhappy with the way he fought in the first fight. Expect him to come out more focused and take a big win here. Ulises is talented and fought a smart fight. He will need to do that again against the Greek fighter.

Fight #11 Bronte Lazar vs. Gib Wilmot

Oskar Jools: “That Lazar is already becoming a crowd favorite, but that is because I have not made my debut yet folks. Oh and this fight? Wilmot gave everything he had in the first one, I think he is out of gas.”

Fight #12 Randall Grax vs. Claude Juvenal

Jochem Martti: “Juvenal, like Spyro, didn't feel he gave it his best despite winning in the first fight. Its hard to tell if this is a sign of things to come or if he is not quite as good as we thought. The competition gets stiffer now with Grax, who made quick work of Wawryzniec. Grax could be the dark horse of this tournament if he can get by Claude.”

Round 2 Results from Boxing Commentator Michjo Peters:

Fight #9 Ridley was cocky after his first fight, and I hate to talk to him now. He beat up Nicholas so bad in just 6 rounds that the referee had to stop the fight due to the bad cuts on both sides of Nicholas' face. Ridley shows no signs of slowing down. I hate to say it, but this was impressive!

Fight #10 Spyro was leading on all the cards heading into the 10th round, but again he didn't seem like he was into the flow of the fight. It seems he was thinking too hard and not allowing his boxing instincts to take over. It cost him dearly as he walked right into a deadly combination in the 10th round that sent him down for the 10 count. Ulises pulls the minor upset here!

Fight #11 Lazar, an early crowd favorite, was absolutly stunned by the workhorse Gib Wilmot. It took less than 3 rounds for Gib to pick Lazar apart and knock him out with deadly efficiency! Nobody saw this coming, but maybe we were caught up in all the hype that was Bronte Lazar. The hype should be for Gib!

Fight #12 Claude put together a much better fight this time around and knocked Randall Grax out in the 11th round. Grax was very disappointed in himself, but he shouldn't take it too hard. Claude looked great out there, and limited the shots that landed on him. If he can fight like this on a consistant basis, look out the rest of the BWC.

That brings us to the first elimination round, and here are the 4 fights, recapped by the one and only Michjo Peters:

Elimination Fight #1 Foulke Ingvar rebounded from that ugly knockout he suffered at the hands of Lazar in round 1 with a convincing 12 round unanimous decision over Ron Lennon.

Elimination Fight #2 Barrage and Damon both went the distance, but lost, in their first fights, and this time the fight again goes the distance of 12 rounds. Barrage comes out on top by unanimous decision in what was a pretty mediocre fight overall.

Elimination Fight #3 Both Danut and Fahd were knocked out in the 6th round of their first fight. Fahd entered this fight still feeling the effects of that Gib Wilmot barrage and went down quickly to a hard right from Danut just a minute and 12 seconds into the fight. Was it the weakness of Fahd, or is Danut a guy would could come back and make noise in this tournament?

Elimination Fight #4 Simba' trainers must be so frustrated with him. A body built for fighting, yet he gets knocked out again, this time in 6 rounds to Alfred Germano.

We have 4 fighters who have won both of their bouts, which brings us to the third round!

Fight #13 Jack Ridley vs. Munro Ulises

Terrance Roadbuster: “Ulises is all smoke and mirrors. I give him credit for getting here to the third round without a loss, but....hey, Ridley is the real deal from what I have seen. I see Ridley winning this fight in 5 rounds or less. Take that to the bank my friends!”

Fight #14: Gib Wilmot vs. Claude Juvenal

Terrance Roadbuster: “What a great matchup. In one corner is the dark horse, Gib Wilmot, who knocked off fan favorite Bronte Lazar. In the other corner you have one of the favorites and maybe the most skilled fighter in the BWC, Claude Juvenal. Fireworks are about to explode in the ring. My money is on Claude, but I see this one going to the cards!”

Once again, Michjo Peters with the results:

Fight #13 Ridley continues to steamroll the competition. The fight went further than my colleague Roadbuster thought, but Ridley got the knockout in round 9 to go 3-0 in this tournament so far. It is hard to gauge the talent of his competitors though, since he is so dominant. Look for somebody he beat to make a run, but it won't be Ulises, despite putting up a fight for 9 rounds.

Fight #14 As expected this fight went the full 12 rounds and also as expected Claude Juvenal pulled out a close, but still unanimous victory. Just a great, clean, smartly played fight by both competitors. It would be great to see these two guys go at it again!

And so we come to the second batch of elimination fights. With a preview lets go to the second investing partner of the BWC, Federico Morris:

Elimination Fight #5 Foulke Ingvar vs. Randall Grax

“A very interesting fight here. You have Foulke, who was overwhelmed by the great Jack Ridley, but then came back to beat Ron Lennon. Then you have Randall Grax who won in the first round, but then lost to the other top fighter, Claude Juvenal. We really had and still have high hopes for Grax, so that is my pick here.”

Elimination Fight #6 Luis Barrage vs. Bronte Lazar

“We haven't learned enough about Barrage yet, but I think the real story is Lazar. We all want to know how he will respond to the upset in round 2.”

Elimination Fight #7 Gennaro Danut vs. Spyro Demetrios

“Danut is intriguing. He was Lazar's victim in the first round, but them scored a 1st round knockout in the second round. On the toher hand, Spyro was upset in the second round and you have to think he will come back in this fight, looking to re-establish himself.”

Elimination Fight #8 Alfred Germano vs. Simon Nicholas

“Nicholas lost to Ridley, and like was mentioned by somebody earlier, he could be that guy who is better than we think. Germano won over Wawryzniec, which is proving not to be much of an accomplishment at this point.”

Marmel

Here is Michjo Peters with the results!

Elimination Fight #5 Randall Grax comes through and shows that the loss to Claude was just a minor speedbump in his road to greatness. He hardly broke a sweat in knocking out Ingvar in just 4 rounds.

Elimination fight #6 Barrage gave Bronte Lazar everything he could handle, but when it went to the cards, Lazar came away with the unanimous decision. Lazar got a standing ovation, the crowd still loves him, but this fight didn't tell us much more about him yet. Still, a nice comeback.

Elimination fight #7 Spyro seems to have his head back on straight and was very methodical in taking apart Danut is 6 rounds for the TKO victory. I think a Spyro/Lazar fight would be great at this point, seeing how their careers have unfolded 3 fights in.

Elimination Fight #8 I am not sure exactly what we learned here, expect for the fact that Germano eliminated Nicholas from the tournament. A slow, pretty boring fight, but Germano is still alive and sits at 2-1.

Oskar Jools is here to tell us about round 4.....

“Ridley takes on Juvenal! I can't wait! This is what the BWC promised and they have delivered already. Both fighters are a perfect 3-0 and the winner is in the catbird seat as far as winning this tournament. Ridley knocks people out, like me while Juvenal picks people apart with deadly accuracy, also like me. I can't wait!”

Michjo Peters with Riound 4 results and look ahead at the next set of elimination fights:

Round 4: There is only 1 word to descrive Jack Ridley at this point. Dominant. But, and take note, Claude took everything Ridley handed out and stayed on his feet for the full12 rounds. Ridley got the win by UD, but Claude may have learned something from this fight for when they meet again. For now, Ridley is the man to beat on the road to the BWC title. He has a spot in the finals.

The next elimination round consists of 2 fights.

#1: Randall Grax vs. Bronte Lazar.

“The only loss on Grax's record is to Claude Juvenal, but his wins were against Ingvar and Wawryzniec, not exactly powerhouses. Lazar looks to be back on track and must keep up the intensity to get by Grax. The crows will be squarely behind Lazar.”

#2: Spyro Demetrios vs. Alfred Germano

“Germano's only loss is also to Claude Juvenal, and again, his two wins were not the greatest of fighters. Sypro, like Lazar is trying to recover from the upset. These two fights seem very similar. Between Lazar and Spyro, I look for 1 of them to win and the other to lose, but which one I leave up to you to decide!”

Marmel

Guest commentator Ike Brawn on the bouts:

Elimination Fight #1: Lazar is turning out to be a huge disappointment, even some of the crowd was getting on his case as he stayed down for a 10 count in the 7th round. Grax, on the otherhand is really making a move and making the other fighters take big notice of him. Would it be a surprise to see him in the finals? I don't think so.”

Elimination Fight #2: Spyro's fate is the same as that of Lazar. He also gets knocked out in the 7th round and a very promising fighter has a cloudly future all of a sudden. Alfred Germano is still not getting much respect int his tournament, but he should. He just goes about his business and quietly has won 3 fights now.

Lets go to Terrance Roadbuster for a preview of the next 2 elimination fights:

Fight #1: Randall Grax vs. Munro Ulises.

“He is 2-1 but I still think Ulises is going to be a failure in this league. Even in his wins, he does not impress me. Grax is the exact opposite. This guy did not have any hype, but is doing a terrific job in the ring today. In a rematch with Juvenal, I think he would beat him, take that to the bank!”

Fight #2: Alfred Germano vs. Gib Wilmot

“Both fighters have 1 loss and in both cases it is to Juvenal. The loser of this one is finished and the winner may yet see Juvenal once more.”

Marmel

Michjo Peters with the call:

Elimination Fight #1: Its a theme around here folks. The quieter, less hyped fighter is getting the job done, while the favorite is falling flat on his face. In this fight it is Grax who falls for a 10 count in the 7th round to Munro Ulises. Somebody please mention Ulises's name when it comes to contenders already, ok?

Elimination Fight #2: Gib Wilmot marches on with a 7th round knockout of Alfred Germano. Wilmot bucks the trend of the favorites going down. This sets up another elimination match between these two winners, Wilmot and Ulises. Of course, everyone is going to put their money on Wilmot, which means.....well, lets get right to the fight and Terrance Roadbuster with the call.

Elimination Fight #3: Yes, these fighters continue to prove us experts wrong, time and time again. Munro Ulises, who I personally thought didn't even deserve a spot in the tournament is now 4-1 and 1 win away from facing Jack Ridley in the finals. Wilmot was a huge disappointment in this fight, going down in the 9th round. There are some talented fighters, Wilmot among them, who will have a lot of face to save in the up coming cards. I hand it back to Michjo Peters for the call on our next fight.

Elimination fight #4 and a spot in the finals: Folks, Munro Ulises has done the unthinkable. The man was the underdog in each and every fight in this tournament, and each and every time he has come away with a win, except for that one fight against Jack Ridley. He comes into this fight a huge underdog once again to the dangerous Claude Juvenal. Does this phase him in the least? No, he goes on to showcase 12 rounds of great boxing and comes away with the UD! Ulises gets his rematch with Jack Ridley and will have to beat him twice in a row to win the tournament. He is a decided underdog and he said, “Thats just the way I like it.”

Tournament Finals: Jack Ridley vs. Munro Ulises

“Certainly Munro cannot beat Jack Ridley once, nevermind twice, right? Wrong. Fight #1 goes to Ulises Mungo by way of TKO in only 4 rounds. Jack Ridley didn't even get to the 10 minute mark in this fight! That sets up 1 last fight between the two of them. One of them will take their second loss and the other will get a shot at the title against the top ranked fighter.”

Marmel

The Finals: Jack Ridley vs. Munro Ulises

“The dream comes to an end, for now, for Munro Ulises. Jack Ridley put a stop to his miraculous run with a 7th round knockout. The crowd stood as one and cheer for Munro as he got back up to his feet and graciously congradulated Ridley. What an opening day for the new BWC!

Our next card with be February 2, 2005, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Jack Ridley will fight Gib Wilmot, the surprising top contender. The rest of the card will be announced shortly. Thank you for tuning into the BWC Premier Boxing tounrmanet. Signing off from MSG in NYC, this is Terrance Roadbuster, saying, take that to the bank!”

Here is how our experts break down this card.

Opening Bout: Ron Lennon vs. Magnus Fahd

Terrance Roadbuster: “I don't think either of these two guys are the least talented in the BWC, but they sit at the bottom of the rankings so it is a natural fit to match them up in the opening bout. Fahd lost to the better fighters in the inaugural tournament and I would give the slight egde to him just simply based on that. The loser of this fight is 1 more loss from an early retirement.”

Preliminary Bout #1: Luis Barrage vs. Simba Wawryzniec

Michjo Peters: “Barrage went 1-2 in the tournament and we still don't have a great feel for him yet. Simba looks the part, but as of right now he is all style, no substance. I still feel there is a future in this league for Simba, but a loss here tonight would drop him to 0-3 in the BWC and he might never get a chance to prove himself. Look for him to take the fight to Barrage.”

Preliminary Fight #2: Bronte Lazar vs. Spyro Demetrios

Jochem Martti: “When we signed these two guys we had a feeling they would put on some great fights, but we never imagined they would be this far down the card. Poor showing by their standards in the tournament make this a huge fight for one of them to gain some momentum in their careers. Myself and the other partners feel that regardless of the outcome tonight, both fighters will play a large part in shaping the BWC once they get comfortable.”

Support Bout: Foulke Ingvar vs. Gennaro Danut

Oskar Jools: “Are you kidding me? These two guys are on the support bout part of the card? I think I knocked one of them out in sparring a few weeks ago. C'mon Mr. Martti, give me a chance!”

Co-Feature: Randall Grax vs. Claude Juvenal

Roadbuster: “This could very easily have been the title bout had things turned just a bit in the tournament. We have two fighters who proved they have what it takes in the BWC. Claude was so close to being in the finals and Grax went about his business winning fights. The winner here is going to get a title shot in the near future, while the loser will have a little more work to do. I like Claude to re-establish himself. Take it to the bank.”

Main Event: Jack Ridley vs. Gib Wilmot for the BWC Title.

Roadbuster: “Wilmot, while clearly a talented fighter, backdoored his way into this title fight. We all know what Ridley, the Tournament winner is capable of and anything less than a knockout victory and a belt around his waist will be a shocker to me. Of course, the BWC has seen a lot of shockers already.”

Marmel

Michjo Peters with the results of this card:

Opening Bout: Ron Lennon takes the unanimous decision in this 12 round fight. Early on it went back and forth and in the 6th it looked like Magnus Fahd was starting to take control, but after that, Lennon took over and clearly was the winner here tonight.

Prelim Bout 1: Barrage thought he would dance around and tire the big Polack out, then take care of business, but right from the start, that strategy didn't work. It looks like Simba trained hard and finally showed us a glilmmer of what he is capable of. It didn't take long for him to put Barrage on the canvas in the 2nd round and then he put him down for good later in the round. Score it a 2nd round KO for Wawryzniec!

Prelim Bout 2: I can see tomorrow's newspaper headlines now, “Lazar's career Spyros into the ground.” Yes, Spyro put Lazar down to the canvas in the 3rd round and there was no way he was getting up. The fans have turned on Lazar and his apparent lack of effort lately. Spyro's career is revived and should start making some noise around here.

Support Bout: Danut and Ingvar put on a mediocre fight here. Ingvar had some very bad swelling around his left eye and at the start of the 10th round the referee halted the fight, giving the victory ro Danut via TKO.

Co-Feature: Grax and Juvenal woke up the crowd in this one. Both fighters gave their best, going toe to toe with each other for 12 full rounds before Juvenal came away with the unanimous decision. Both fighters deserve a ton of credit for the fight and the skills they displayed. Grax needs to work his way back near the top, while Juvenal now is in line for a title shot in the upcoming months.

Main Event: This title fight was supposed to be nothing more than a showcase of Ridley's skills, but from the opening bell he found himself in a fight for his life. Wilmot came out with a barrage of shots to Ridley's face and had him stunned just seconds into the fight. Ridley lost his cool and never recovered, finally going down in just the second round! It looked like he would get up at the count of 8, but his knees wobbled and his legs gave way and.....Gib Wilmot is your first ever BWC World Champion!

Thanks again for joining us and look for the next BWC card coming in March '05!

March 5, 2005
Yokohama Arena
Yokohama, Japan

The third event of the BWC comes to you from the Far East, in Yokohama, Japan. Our panel of experts break down tonight's card for you.

Opening Bout: Magnus Fahd (0-3) vs. Luis Barrage (1-3)

Jochem Martti: “Tonight may mark the end of the line for Fahd, unless he can come out of here with a victory. Fahd is the 16th ranked fighter in our promotion and he takes on the 15th ranked fighter, Luis Barrage, the flashy Spanaird. Folks, I know this is not a very interesting fight, but we feel we need to give all of our fighters a chance to prove themselves, or find out for themselves that they don't have what it takes so that they may move on in their lives.”

Preliminary Bout #1: Frederick Damon (0-2) vs. Bronte Lazar (2-3)

Terrance Roadbuster: “This could be the last chance for Lazar to save his career. A loss to Damon is a bad sign, as Damon is not world class by a long sho, in fact, he is still in search of his first win. Basically, this fight is going to tell us if Lazar can revive his career, as Damon is not a hot prospect for the future, win or lose.”

Preliminary Bout #2: Ron Lennon (1-2) vs. Simba Wawryzniec (1-2)

Michjo Peters: “Both of these fighters were 0-2 but found something that works in their last fights, and won them both. Simba is the bigger name and his losses have gotten much publicity, as did his big 2nd round knockout in his last outing. Lennon was not even impressive in his 12 round decision against Fahd.”

Support Bout: Randall Grax (3-3) vs. Simon Nicholas (1-2)

Roadbuster: “Grax has lost his last 2 fights and needs to put it back together here. He is a very talented fighter and should handle Simon pretty easily.”

Co-Feature: Spyro Demetrios (3-2) vs. Gennaro Danut (2-2)

Peters: “Both fighters are coming off a nice victory, but in the talent department, Spyro should mop up the ring with Danut. Danut might be 2-2 and ranked relatively high, but his wins are against the bottom of the barrel in Ingvar and Fahd. I expect him to be put in his place tonight and for Spyro to continue to crawl up the rankings.”

Main Event: Munro Ulises (6-2) vs. Claude Juvenal (4-2)

Roadbuster: “For a #1 contenders match, I should be more excited. I really believe Ulises run in the tournament was 99% luck and 1% momentum from 1 single upset. Claude is the superior fighter in every sense of the word. Claude will win the fight, he will get his title match and he will be the surprising champ Gib Wilmot to be our next Champion. Take that to the bank.”

Guest Commentator Ike Brawn will take us through tonight's card from Yokohama.

Opening Bout: His career was short, and not so sweet. Magnus Fahd lost a unanimous decision to Luis Barrage. Fahd looked like he gave up about halfway through the fight and succumbed to his fate. A sad ending for Magnus.

Prelim #1: Lazar takes his first step to redemption by blasting Freddy Damon in under 90 seconds. A first round knockout from Lazar reminds everyone that he is a dangerous fighter to face, despite his recent struggles. He is one of the more interesting fighters to follow in the BWC.

Prelim #2: Simba's a young guy and I guess he can try to take something good out of this fight. He at least did not get knocked out like in his other losses. Ron Lennon takes Simba the distance and picks up the unanimous decision victory.

Support Bout: This fight went exactly how we expected it. Grax asserted himself from the opening bell and Simon Nicholas never stood much of a chance. His corner threw in the towel at the start of round 11 when they just couldn't get a gaping cut to stop pouring blood. Slowly, but surely, the better fighters are rising to the top I think and Grax certainly has the tools to be at the top.

Co-Feature: I don't know if it is too early to say he is back, but Spyro Demetrios knocked out Gennaro Danut in just 3 rounds to pick up his second win in a row. A couple early setback has not dampened his mood and we are now seeing him fight like we all expected. I look forward to his next match already.

Main Event: In a battle for the #1 contenders spot, Munro Ulises continues to defy the skeptics. He came out and knocked out who many consider the 2nd best fighter in the promotion, Claude Juvenal. Not only did he knock him out, he did it in 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the first round. Can we please stop saying Ulises is fighting over his head? This guy is legit and has a chance to win the belt in a month or two.

Recap:

Tonight we say goodbye to Magnus Fahd. He leaves the BWC with a record of 0-4 and a career earnings of $228,100. Let's hope he invests that money well.

As always, our panel of experts will break down tonight's card.

Opening Bout: Dmitri Draco (0-0) vs. Simba Wawrzyniec (1-3)

Terrance Roadbuster: “This opening bout features the debut of Dmitri Draco, from Russia. Draco is 22 years old and is the first new fighter signed to the BWC promotion. Draco was highly touted during the scouting process but due to a nagging injury, was unable to be a part of our opening night roster. But here he is and his first test is against the widely inconsistant, and mostly disappointing Polish fighter, Simba Wawrzyniec.”

Preliminary Bout 1: Simon Nicholas (1-3) vs. Frederick Damon (0-3)

Oskar Jools: “They might as well call this the retirement match. Both of these fools have lost their last 3 fights and a 4th one would send them back to their pathetic mediocre lives. In fact, I hope it is a draw, so both of these guys leave the BWC and open up 2 spots, which I am certain to get a phone call to fill one of them. And speaking of filling roster spots, can you folks believe that this Russian guy was signed before me? What kind of name is Dmitri Draco? That sounds like a role in a bad Rocky movie for crying out loud.”

Preliminary Bout #2: Luis Barrage (2-3) vs. Bronte Lazar (3-3)

Michjo Peters: “We have certainly expected more from both of these fighters thus far in their careers. Barrage, the flashy Spanaird, has beat up a couple guys who won't be here for much longer and then got knocked out by the underperforming Simba Wawrzyniec. Lazar was an instant fan favorite but they are certainly turning on him after his uninspiring performances. He did win his last fight against Damon, but Damon is a guy facing retirement tonight. I guess we can keep an eye on the winner of tonight's fight and give up the loser for dead as far as a future in the BWC goes.”

Support Bout: Randall Grax (4-3) vs. Ron Lennon (2-2)

Jochem Martti: “Right now you have to put Grax into the second tier of boxers. His 4-3 record is not great, but those three losses are to Juvenal twice and Ulises, and those guys are the cream of the crop right now. Lennon flamed out with 2 quick losses in the tournament, but has since went on to win 2 in a row. The competition certainly wasn't stiff, but now he gets to step up a bit and see if he can compete with the better fighters in the BWC.”

Co-Feature: Spyro Demetrios (4-2) vs. Claude Juvenal (4-3)

Roadbuster: “I am really excited about this fight. Spyro has really stepped up his game since the tournament and has won impressively over Lazar and Danut in the last 2 months. We all know he has the talent and it certainly seems like he is putting it all together now. And then there is Claude Juvenal. He lost twice to Ulises and once to Ridley, but has also beaten Germano, Grax twice and the current champ, Wilmot. He is afriad of no fighter, and has a chance to win every time he steps into the ring. This fight is of championship caliber. In my opinion, the little bit of extra experience Juvenal has in the big fights gives him the upper hand here.”

Main Event: Jack Ridley (5-2) vs. Alfred Germano (3-2)

Guest Announcer and current BWC Champ, Gib Wilmot: “Ridley is the only reason this fight is a main event. The guy demands respect with his power, speed and intellegance. Of course, I beat him for this title. Hey, I also beat Germano in the tournament, so both of these guys are not in my class, but still good fighters. We have not seen Germano in the ring since the tournament, so I am sure he will have a little ring rust, but Ridley is not the man you want to face unless you are in prime shape. I am sure I will see one of these guys again, and I am also sure I will put them on the mat and defend my title.”

Just a brief recap on some of the experts and commentators in the BWC.

Terrance Roadbuster: Terrance is considered one of the top boxing experts today. He publishes boxing magazine 'Blue Corner' and has been writing and disecting fighters and matches for over 25 years now. Loves to make predictions, rarely admits when he is wrong though, and tends to stick with his favorite fighters, even when things are not going well for them.

Michjo Peters: Michjo is one of the best boxing announcers on the planet. He has called over 400 amateur fights. He is good at not taking sides or making predictions, but just telling it like it is.

Jochem Martti: Jochem is the most recognizable of the investing partners in the BWC. This young man earned his fortune in real estate in the late 1990's. Very knowledgable on the history of boxing, he sticks up for all his fighters and tries to paint a great face for the BWC.

Ike Brawn: This young man is currently training in an effort to become a fighter in the BWC. He has a little ways to go. When he is not rigorously training, he falls back on his great announcing skills and knowledge of the sport, which he gained from his father, a boxer in the 1960;s.

Federico Morris: The quieter investing partner of the BWC, he likes to keep behind the scene, but will occassionally give his analysis of the fights. He comes from 3rd generation of money and has finally found something he is passionate about to spend his trust fund on. Not the most knowledgible guy, but truly loves the sport.

Michjo Peters with the results of the April 15, 2005 card from Mohegan Sun Casino:

Opening Bout: Draco showed his nervousness int eh early going of this fight and had a hard time recovering from some big rights that Simba was able to land. Slowly but surely he got things in order and mounted a nice comeback, earning the split decision on the scorecards after 12 rounds. Not an overly impressive debut for Draco, but a win puts him on the map.

Prelim Bout #1: Say goodbye to Frederick Damon. He was knocked out in the 6th round by Simon Nicholas and will before to hang up the gloves. Ahh, we hardly knew him. Nicholas buys himself at least 4 more fights with the nice knockout win, but nto many people see him having a long lengthy career in the BWC.

Prelim Bout #2: This fight was a fight of real conflicting styles and neither fighter seemed very comfortable throughout the 12 round affair. There was never a sustained offensive attack by either fighter and the judges agreed, handing down a Draw. This is as good as a loss on both fighters records and the disappointment continues for both of them.

Support Bout: Grax comes into this fight considers as a second tier fighter. Not a bad thing, but he wants to be a championship contender. He used that as motivation and pretty much dominated the fight, earning a 12 round unanimous decision victory. We would have liked to seen a knockout from Grax, but I am sure he will take the win. For Lennon, it is back to the training gym to try and better his skills.

Co-Feature: Juvenal completely domined Spyro in this fight. It was a very similasr fight to the previous one in fact. Three judges scored the fight identical, with Juvental winning all the rounds except the first and last. I think this re-establishes Juvenal as a title contender. At the same time, Spyro takes two steps forward, only to take a step back tonight by getting dominated. Although there is no shame in losing to Juvenal, he should have been more competative.

Main Event: This was Ridley's first fight since losing in the Title bout. Needless to say he was motivated and it showed. He dominted the first three rounds. Germano started to mount a comeback in the 4th, but that just fired Ridley up for the fifth, where a barrage of lefts and rights had the ref jumping inbetween the two fighters to stop it. Ridley wins by knockout in the 5th round and is chomping at the bit for another shot at the World Title.

Tonight we say goodbye to Frederick Damon. He fought 4 times and lost all 4 fights for an 0-4 record. He had a career earning of $424,200, more than half coming in his final fight. Good luck in the future Freddy!

As always, thanks for watching this premier BWC event and we hope to see you next month!

Fenway Park
Boston , MA

This month's card comes to you from historic Fenway Park in Boston, MA. We would like to thank the Red Sox for their generosity in allowing us to hold this event here and for their help in setting up suitable seating for tonight's great card. The usual cast of characters are here to break down tonights card.

Opening Bout: Rashawn Modestine (0-0) vs. Foulke Ingvar (1-3)

Roadbuster: “This is the first of two fights on tonight's card that will feature a fighter's debut in the BWC. Modestine hails from the US, just a stone's throw away in Springfield, MA. Modestine has shown flashes of brilliance according to the scouts. Word is, he is unrefined right now, but with some fights under his belt, he could become a player ni the BWC. His first challenge is Ingvar, who has lost his last 2 fights. Ingvar has a very similasr style to what we expect to see from Modestine, and essentially, he is going to get a chance to keep the younger guys down in an effort to keep himself aruond a while longer.”

Prelim Bout #1: Oskar Jools (0-0) vs. Simon Nicholas (2-3)

Roadbuster: “You should all be familiar with Oskar Jools, as he has done some commentary for the BWC already. He makes his debut tonight against Nicholas, who is fresh off of a win in a 'retirement match.' Nicholas is a slugger, whose wins are both by knockout. Jools is a technically sound boxer. He sometimes gets too aggressive, but his good defensive skills keeps him from getting into too much trouble.”

Prelim Bout #2: Bronte Lazar (3-3-1) vs. Gennaro Danut (2-3)

Michjo: “This fight is a rematch of the first fight for both of these guys. Bronte Lazar knocked out Danut in 6 rounds in that one back in NYC, but he has really been up and down since then. Danut's other losses both came to Spyro Demetrios and his wins are against some of the worst ranked fighters in the league. Lazar should be able to beat Danut once again if he fights like he is capable of.”

Support Bout: Spyro Demetrios (4-3) vs. Alfred Gannaro (3-3)

Michjo: “After a string of 2 wins, Spyro took a step back with a decisive defeat at the hands of Juvenal. He will look to get back on track here against a lesser opponite that Juvenal was. Gennaro has lost 2 in a row, to the champ, Wilmot and maybe the best pound for pound fighter, Jack Ridley. He has faced some very tough competition, which prepares him well for this tough fight, but he can hardly afford to drop his thrid straight.”

Co-Feature: Randall Grax (5-3) vs. Jack Ridley (6-2)

Roadbuster: “This could very well be the real main event of the night. Both of Ridley's losses are considered upsets at this point, and you know he wants to put it all together for a future title shot. Grax has fought very competatively against the top competition in the BWC, but has not been able to pull out a victory against the best fighters. If he can't do it here, he might not get another shot for a while.”

Main Event: BWC Champion Gib Wilmot (4-2) vs. Munro Ulises (7-2)

Martti: “We are pleased to have for the fans the first title defense of Wilmot's career. We think Ulises is the top contender for the belt, despite the negativity thrown around by the media about his skills. Look, the guy is 7-2, that is the most wins in the BWC to date. He has beaten the experts favorite fighters and maybe they are just sour that they have to eat their words after every one of Ulises' fights. We know we have two of the best fighters in the world in the BWC and they will go at it tonight for our top prize.”

Michjo Peters brings us the recap from the May 23, 2005 card from Fenway Park.

Opening Bout: This certainly did not turn out the way Modestine was hoping for on his big debut. I don't know if he was nervous, or unprepared or what, but he was tenative from the opening bell. Ingvar definitly picked up on this and went right after Modestine, pummeling him for the entire first round. Modestine completely panicked and the ref had to jump in and stop this fight before Modestine got seriously injured. This fight is a 1st round TKO for Ingvar!

Prelim Bout #1: Oskar Jools made his long awaited debut a memorable one tonight. He came out at the opening bell all pumped up and Nicholas just could not match his intensity. Jools easily won the first two rounds, and then midway through the fight took control by racking up round after round after round on the scorecards. Towards the end, he visibly tired and allowed Nicholas to mount a tiny comback, but it was never even close. Jools wins his debut by unanimous decision after 12 rounds.

Prelim Bout #2: Bronte Lazar was in control of this fight the whole way and the result was the exact same thing as last time these two fighters met up...a 6th round knockout. Lazar won every round on 2 of the judges cards, and the other judge had him winning all but 1 round. A solid win for Lazar, who has now not lost in 3 straight outtings. We may finally be getting to see the Bronte Lazar we expected from day 1.

Support Bout: Spyro Demetrios lost his second consecutive bout tonight in the exact same fashion as the last one. He was completely dominated for 12 full rounds. Gennaro's smallest margin of victory on the judge's cards was 118-108. Gennaro picks up a solid win in just his second fight since the tournament, propelling him upwards in the rankings. He will be looking for some tougher competition next and maybe planning some kind of road to a title shot.

Co-Feature: Grax and Ridley circled around in the first round, feeling each other out. Not much action until the second. Grax opened up with a hard right that seemed to have shaken Ridley badly. The usually heady fighter he is, we all expected Ridley to recover quickly, but that shot must have really shook him up. Grax took advantage and pounced on him, causing the referee to stop the fight late in the second round. This was a huge victory for Grax, who has finally pulled off a win against the top competition. For Ridley, this was a huge setback for him. He is going to have to regroup and try to find out where things went wrong for him, now a loser of 2 out of 3 fights.

Main Event: This title fight between Wilmot and Ulises was one for the ages. The first three rounds were relatively quiet, with both fighters landing some nice shots, but neither really establishing anything. But the 4th round began a great series of events. Ulises rained a barrage of shots to the head and body of the champ that sent him to the canvas midway through round 4. Wilmot quickly popped back up and got out of the round, but he was cut under the eye.

The sight of his own blood got him going though and in round 5, Wilmot sneaks in a big punch right after a break and sends Ulises to the canvas. Ulises barely was able to answer the 10 count and I still don't know how Wilmot wasn't able to put away the wobbly Ulises.

Ulises played keep away in the 6th round and then seemed to find a second wind in the 7th. Through the 7th, 8th and 9th rounds, Ulises slowly started to take over. Then in the 10th round, another barrage of punches doubled over Wilmot and he hit the canvas. The ref counted to 10 and Wilmot still was on his knees. Ulises went crazy in celebration as he was crowned the new BWC Champion of the World! The judges all had him winning 85-84 at the knockout.

The Olympia
Detroit, MI

We have an exciting card for you tonight from Detroit, Michigan. Our experts break this one down for us.

Opening Bout: Simba Warzyniec (1-4) vs. Gennaro Danut (2-4)

Roadbuster: “We have a couple fighters here who are just trying to save their baxing careers. Both have lost 2 in a row and a third loss puts them on the verge of retirement. Simba seems to have the most potential, so I would say he is the pick here, although Danut has had a bit more success. One of them has to step up and take control of the fight and their career.”

Prelim Bout #1: Rashawn Modestine (0-1) vs. Ron Lennon (2-3)

Michjo: “Modestine looked horrendous in his debut last month, but gets a quick turnaround to try and put that behind him and make a better effort tonight. Lennon has been up and down, but if he could even his record up at 3-3 with a victory tonight, it would be a big mental boost for his future fights.”

Prelim Bout #2: Oskar Jools (1-0) vs. Dimitri Draco (1-0)

Martti: “Two of our newest fighters square off against each other tonight after having both won their debuts. I really feel we found two very good fighters who will have their share of excellent fights in the BWC and this should be one of them. Two young guys trying to make a name for themselves....expect a great, great fight.”

Support Bout: Alfred Germano (4-3) vs. Bronte Lazar (4-3-1)

Roadbuster: “Lazar is a very active fighter, as he has been on just about every card so far. We get to see him here again tonight against Germano, who just recently beat Spyro Demetrios. Lazar is 2-0-1 in his last three fights and a win here would propel him back into the spotlight and maybe headed for the top tier of fighters. I think Lazar has found what seemed to be missing in his earlier fights and is the clear favorite in my book.”

Co-Feature: Claude Juvenal (5-3) vs. Jack Ridley (6-3)

Roadbuster: “If there was ever a must win fight for two fighters, this is it. I think most fans and myself included, feel that these are your best talents in the BWC, but but Ridley has lost 2 of 3 and Claude is coming off a streak of losing 3 of 4 before he recent win over Spyro Demetrios. The winner of this fight is back in line for a title shot while the loser falls way back into the pack. The smart money is on Ridley, who has never lost 2 in a row in his young career.”

Main Event: Randall Grax (6-3) vs. Gib Wilmot (4-3)

Martti: “Simply put, this could end up being a #1 contenders match. Grax is a winner of three straight and beating the former champ would earn him a title shot. Wilmot badly wants a rematch, but has to earn it by beating one of the top fighters. One fighter will propel his career, while the other could have his title hopes severly damaged tonight.”

Michjo Peters with the results of the June 20, 2005 bouts from Detroit, MI:

Opening Bout: After having some success in the first round, Simba Wawrzyniec regressed in round 2 and took an absolute pounding. He went down hard midway in round 2 and his corner advised him to stay down, which he did. Simba should just retire now insteead of waiting for the 4th loss in a row. He is outmatched even against weaker competition. Danut puts a little life into his career with a huge knockout victory after 2 bad defeats.

Prelim #1: Modestine started out shaky once again in this fight, but was able to hold his ground and get through the first few rounds against Lennon. Modestine finally started to look comfortabel and just used his boxing skills to start winning the middle rounds. Lennon fought back hard in the final 3 rounds, but Modestine did just enough to get the unanimous decision. All the judges scored it 115-113 in favor of Modestine, to give him his first BWC victory!

Prelim #2: After watching this fight, Jools may want to keep his microphone warmed up. He did not look like he belonged in the BWC. In round 1, Draco had to chase Jools all over the ring and it was a boring round, but in the second, Draco finally caught Jools in a corner and a thundering shot to Jools ribs sent him to the canvas, where he would not get up for the 10 count. I know Draco is powerful, but c'mon Oskar! Anyway, Draco moves to 2-0 with a solid win against a fellow newcomer.

Support Bout: We are truly seeing the Bronte Lazar we all thought we would back in January. The crowd is now once again squarely behind this fighter as he dominated yet another fight. He knocked Germano down three times before picking up the easy win on the cards in a unanimous decision. Lazar now has not lost in 4 outtings. Germano, on the other hand, has lost 3 of his last 4 and better figure out what he is doing wrong quickly before he fades away.

Co-Feature: In this very important fight for both men, one of them came to fight, the other suddenly looks completely lost in the ring. Ridley did not even last three minutes tonight, as the ref had to stop the fight when Ridley was cowered in the corner, hands over his head and turned away from the onslaught that Juvetal was giving him. A truly pathetic first round TKO for Ridley. Juvental celebrated wildly with the dominating victory, and clearly looks back on track towards his ultimate goal of becoming the BWC champ!

Main Event: Tonight's main event saw two fighters continue to move in opposite directions in their careers. In what was a close fight for about 5 rounds, ended up being a slaughter, just 2 rounds later. Grax knocked the former champ Wilmot to the ground twice in the 7th round. Both times Wilmot showed enough strength to get back up, but after the second knockdown, he was unable to defend himself and the referee stopped the fight.

This leaves no doubt in anyone's mind that Grax rightfully deserves a title shot. Wilmot, just a month removed from being champion, now finds himself muddled in the middle of the ranking after being knocked out two times in a row.

That's all from Detroit, MI. I hope you enjoyed tonight's fights. Catch us in July where the BWC title will be up for grabs once again!

July 19, 2005
Madison Square Garden
New York City

We are back to where it all started in the BWC, MSG. We have a terrific championship card tonight!

Opening Bout: Simon Nicholas (2-4) vs. Spyro Demetrios (4-4)

Michjo: “Both fighters are coming off of a loss, Spyro 2 in a row actually, while Nicholas has lost 4 of his last 5. I think this fight was set up as a chance for Spyro to have a very good chance at a win and get one of the more popular fighters back into the spotlight. Nicholas is the unfortunate opponent, but he could make a name for himself with a big win over the slumping Spyro Demetrios.”

Prelim Bout #1: Foulke Ingvar (2-3) vs. Luis Barrage (2-3-1)

Roadbuster: “In all honesty, I am not as excited about this fight as the BWC would like me to be. They are touting this fight as two guys coming off of wins and both on their way up in the world. I see it as two guys beating crappy opponents and now one of them has to win again. Give me Barrage because I like the flash he shows in the ring, but I will probably be making a sandwich during this fight.”

Prelim Bout #2: Oskar Jools (1-1) vs. Deshawn Modestine (1-1)

Michjo: “Two of our newest fighters will duke it out in the ring. This will provide us with a bit of seperation between our newest guys in the BWC. Jools really needs to rebound from that horrendous outting last month.”

Support Bout: Dmitri Draco (2-0) vs. Alfred Germano (4-4)

Roadbuster: “I really like what I have been seeing out of Draco so far. Tonight he takes on an experienced fighter who normally doesn't fold up when things get tough, but hwe is not talented enough to really dominate I don't think. My call has Draco gaining some valuable experience and coming out with an extremely hard fough and well deserved vicotry. Take that to the bank folks.”

Co-Feature: Claude Juvenal (6-3) vs. Bronte Lazar (5-3-1)

Roadbuster: “Two of our more active fighters get together tonight in what should be a good matchup. Lazar is on a great run right now, not having lost in his last 4 fights. Juvenal has come back from a couple bad losses to win 2 in a row, including the big knockout over Ridley. A win for either fighter puts them very very close to a future title shot. The loser falls back into the pack and must once again build their way up into contender status. The smart money is on Juvental, but I am going to pick the slight upset and go with Lazar.”

Main Event: BWC Champion Ulises Munro (8-2) vs. Randall Grax (7-3)

Roadbuster: “Look, the BWC can build up Ulises all they want, but the simple fact is that it is a huge embarrassment for this young league to have Ulises with the belt aruond his waist. His meteoric rise to the top was a great story, but his flaming downfall begins tonight. I will go out on a limb and congradulate Randall Grax on his victory, on his championship and for finally putting to rest any rumors of how good Ulises is.”

Michjo Peters with the July 19 recap...

Opening Bout: Spyro Demetrios snapped a 2 fight losing streak today with a mostly dominating fight. He knocked Nicholas down in the 6th and in the 8th round. To Nicholas' credit, he was able to get up and continue fighting both times. Sypro was feeling very confident, too much so in fact. Nicholas landed one real lucky punch that buckled Spyro's knees in the 10th round. His knee did hit the canvas, but he popped right back up. Nicholas continued to battle into the 12 and made it the distance, but the cards had a wide margin of victory for Spyro.

Premlim Bout #2: Barrage has been out of action since April when he drew with Bronte Lazar. Ingvar is coming off of a win against newcomer Modestine. Exactly 1 minute into the fight, Barrage landed a huge right hand and folded Ingvar like an accordian! He went down for a 8 count and was never the same for the rest of the fight. He held on into the 7th round, but was quickly falling behind on the cards. In the 7th, he went down three times and that ended the fight. A nice 7th round TKO for Barrage, who has not lost in 3 fights now.

Prelim Bout #2: Oskar Jools was looking really sharp in this fight, as he was determined to come back from that poor showing last month. We really was giving Modestine a lesson in boxing through three rounds. In the fourth round, Modestine was visibly getting frustrated at getting jabbed to death and he started flailing wildly out of desperation. Luckily for him, he connected with a huge right hand and Jools eyes were in the back of his head before he even hit the canvas. Needless to say, Jools was not getting up from that one and Modestine wins this bout by KO in the 4th round!

Support Bout: The first 4 rounds of this fight were very even, with Draco winning two of them and Germano winning the other two. Draco swung the momentum to his side in the 5th with a nasty combination and took control of the fight. He put Germano down in both the 7th and 8th rounds, before finally finishing him off with a knockout in the 10th. Draco is now 3-0 in his young career and has looked very solid in each and every outting.

Co-Feature: Lazar has been fighting the wasy we knew he could as of late and he felt ready to step up and challenge Juvenal, but Juvenal had other ideas. This fight was over before everyone settled into their seats. Just a minute 25 into the first round, Juvenal was all over Lazar and a 5 punch combination to the face put Lazar down for the 10 count. A very impressive showing for Juvenal, and Bronte really needs to decide wether it is worth it to go on for him.

Main Event: Grax takes early control of this title fight against Ulises and easily wins the first three rounds on all the cards. The tide starts to turn in the 4th and 5th rounds and then in the 6th it looks like Ulises is going to put Grax away to retain his belt when he knocks him down with a straight right, right into the jaw of Grax. Grax stumbles around after finally getting up and survives the round. Grax showed no ill effects of the knockdown and fought Ulises even in the 7th round. In the 8th, Grax seemed to be wearing down and Ulises too advantage, racking up more points on the judges scorecards.

But then in the 8th round, just 20 seconds in, Grax lands two shots into the ribcage of Ulises and he covers up and goes down to a knee for a 6 count before getting back up and finishing the round.

In the 9th, Ulises goes down again early on, but gets up to continue. Things are definitly slipping away for the champ though and if he doesn't regroup quickly, it could be all over.

Halfway through the 10th round, Grax lands a hard right that dazes Ulises. Grax sees it and attacks, all out before finally sending Ulises to the canvas. Ulises cannot answer the 10 count as he was still grasping for the ropes, trying to get up.

Randall Grax wins by Knockout in the 10th round and is crowned the NEW BWC Champion of the World!

That's all from Madison Square Garden. Come back next month for another 6 fight card of BWC boxing!

Our experts break down this month's BWC card:

Opening Bout: Simba Wawrzyniec (1-5) vs. Simon Nicholas (2-5)

Martti: “This is a possible retirement match for Simba. He has lost 3 in a row and could be hanging them up after this fight. I am not one to play favorites, as I think all of our boxers have potential, but we really hope Simba can stick around for awhile longer, we picked him in the initial group of fighters for the amazing potential he has. That is not a knock on Nicholas, who has been extremely competative in his last 2 fights, going the distance in both of them. If he gets the win, he will get more chances to prove himself and move up the rankings.”

Prelim Bout #1: Ron Lennon (2-4) vs. Gennaro Danut (3-4)

Roadbuster: “I guess the BWC officials had to find a way to fill one more spot on this card. What a snooze fest this one is going to be. I suppose the winner, especially if it is Danut, could have a future in the BWC, but I wouldn't count on too much success for either of these guys anytime soon.”

Prelim Bout #2: Alfred Germano (4-5) vs. Gib Wilmot (4-4)

Roadbuster: “Now these are the types of fights we need to see more of. Germano started his career wining 3 of 4, but has now lost 4 of 5. A very inconsistant fighter, but with the talent and potential to win this one against a former champ. Speaking of the former champ, he is so badly in need of a win right now. Since his short title reign, he is in danger of falling completely off the radar in the BWC. A loss here would be his third straight since winning the belt.”

Support Bout: Luis Barrage (3-3-1) vs. Jack Ridley (6-4)

Roadbuster: “Barrage has shown me something as of late. I like his flashy style and the quickness he displays in the ring. However, I think he run is about to end at the hands of a very angry Jack Ridley. Ridley lost to Grax and Juvenal in consecutive outtings and I don't think there is anyway in hell this man will drop 3 straight fights, and certainly not to Barrage. I would bet the mortgage on Ridley tonight.”

Co-Feature: Rashawn Modestine (2-1) vs. Dmitri Draco (3-0)

Michjo: “Modestine is thankful he has been able to secure a nice payday with a fight against the hottest young fighter in the BWC, Dmitri Draco. Both are new fighters to the BWC, but all the focus is on Draco right now. Can he remain undefeated? Is he a title threat? We will learn more about him tonight.”

Main Event: Munro Ulises (8-3) vs. Claude Juvenal (7-3)

Roadbuster: “I simply cannot wait for this fight. Ulises incredibly lucky run came to an end last month and now the downfall continues I think. Ulises has beaten Juvenal twice already this year, back in January and in March. But Juvenal has won 3 in a row and is a much different, and better fighter now. He wants his revenge and he wants his title shot and tonight he will get one and set himself up as the #1 contender. Take that to the bank folks!”

Michijo Peters has the results from the August 10th card:

Opening Bout: Simba Wawrzyniec has earned himself at least 4 more fights in the BWC. It was not looking good for him early on though as Simon Nicholas had taken the first 3 rounds rather decisively on the judges scorecards. In the 4th round, Simba landed two shots to Nicholas's ribs that really took the wind out of him. Backing him into the ropes, Simba unleashed a poweful uppercut that had Nicholas slumped over the ropes. The ref had to step in and save Nicholas from another punch that would have done serious damage. Nicholas was out on his feet, only the ropes holding him up. Give the 4th round knockout win to Simba Wawrzyniec.

Prelim Bout #1: Roadbuster was right about this fight, it was pretty boring overall, with both fighters taking their time in the ring and not a whole lot of action. Lennon was the more aggressive fighter and pushed what little action there was and after a very long 12 rounds, he was awarded the unanimous decision over Gennaro Danut.

Prelim Bout #2: Wilmot started off shaky in this fight, letting Alfred Germano take the first three rounds without much trouble. Wilmot's corner put some urgency in him, telling him he was going to lose this fight unless he showed some intensity. That seemed to wake Wilmot up and he turned it on for the next handful of rounds, beginning with the 4th. In the 7th round, Wilmot knocked Germano to the ground for a 6 count, and that ended up being the difference in the fight. Germano had some success in the late rounds, but two judges gave the fight to Wilmot on the cards after 12 rounds and the other judge had it even at 114-114. Wilmot avoids his third straight loss with a 12 round majority decision.

Support Bout: Jack Ridley looked a little shaky to start this fight. Maybe it was a little stress, knowing he had to have it. After 2 rounds he settled down though and we started to see the Jack Ridley of old against Luis Barrage. Slowly but surely, Ridley started to dominate, but it didn't last too long, as a jarring combination sent Barrage to the mat in the 5th round. I think he could have gotten up, as he was on his knees, looking at Ridley, but he decided to stay down. Ridley wins with a knockout in the 5th round!

Co-Feature: Draco has been impressive in his first three fights, and tonight against Modestine may have been his best performance yet. A devastating hook to the side of the head just 41 seconds into the fight sent Modestine to the floor. He got back up but his legs were awfully wobbly. Draco went right back to work and Modestine was no longer able to defend himself. The ref had no choice but to stop this one just 2 minutes and 17 seconds into the first round. Draco moves to 4-0!

Main Event: Looking back on this main event between Claude Juvenal and Munro Ulises, it was really decided in the first round when Juvenal caught Ulises right before the final bell with a thundering shot that sent him down for an 8 count. Ulises was able to continue, but he didn't look the same after that knockdown. He turned into a very defensive fighter for the rest of the fight. Juvenal knocked him down again in the 5th round. Give Ulises credit for finishing the fight, but he was never in it. Juvenal wins this month's main event by unanimous decision after 12 rounds!

Most of our fighters have had a good number of matches so far, so now is a good time to take a look at the rankings and money list. The fighter's will be sorted by ranking.

I prefer not to give much detail on how I am controlling this universe, but here is a bit to make some things clear. Fighters begin with their career stage at beginning. 5 fights later, they move to pre prime and after their 10th fight, they are in their prime. Around their 25th fight, they will move to post-prime and at 30 they will move to the end of their career stage. Fighters will retire after 30-40 fights, 99% of the time, unless there are special circumstances. Fighters will also retire after losing, or drawing for 4 consecutive fights...props to pilot and his dynasty for this rule. The only other thing I will say is that I don't care for how the rankings work with fighters who have not been in many matches yet, so just because they are ranked #1 contender by the game, does not mean they actually are in my book. See this month's rankings for a perfect example.)

BWC Champ: Randall Grax, 8-3, $35,195,400

Ranking, Fighter, Record, Earnings

1,Dmitri Draco, 4-0, $1,790,400
2,Claude Juvenal, 8-3, $20,709,300
3,Munro Ulises, 8-4, $28,547,900
4,Jack Ridley, 7-4, $27,851,900
5,Gib Wilmot, 5-4, $40,040,400
6,Rashawn Modestin, 2-2, $1,927,700
7,Bronte Lazar, 5-4-1, $4,392,900
8,Oskar Jools, 1-2, $1,162,400
9,Spyro Demetrios, 5-4, $2,472,300

Hey Marm, just curious, how are you determining who fights who? Are you just going with your gut or do you have a system of sorts?

Marmel

Pilot, I would say a little of both. I want to match up fighters that are ranked close and if possible have both won or both lost, or both lost 2 in a row, etc...

I also want to avoid matching up top contenders with guys ranked 15-20. I also try to avoid having guys repeatedly fighting each other several times, unless it is a specified rematch. Of course, with the small number of fighters, we are going to get this out of necessity.

With the newest fighters, they start fighting at the bottom of the ranks and move up accordingly to their performance. The rankings are really out of whack for guys with much less fight experience than others.

Hope that helps.

Tonight we feature 6 big fights including our main event for the BWC Title! Our experts have the round up for you.

Opening Bout: Luis Ramiro (0-0) vs. Foulke Ingvar (2-4)

Roadbuster: “Luis Ramiro makes his BWC debut tonight. Luis is 20 years old and hails from the country of Mexico. Personally, I am very excited about Ramiro. He has a great style of boxing and is a threat to knock anyone out right from the opening bell. The knock on him is his poor conditioning, but that can be corrected. He takes on Foulke Ingvar who has been pretty much a disappointment so far. I see Ramiro making a loud entrance into the BWC with an early knockout.”

Prelim Bout #1: Simon Nicholas (2-6) vs. Alfred German (4-6)

Martti: “Tonight, we say goodbye to one of these fighters. A loss for either would make it 4 in a row and they will have to hang up their gloves. Germano rode a nice win streak in the tournament to a 3-1 record, but has only won once since. Nicholas snuck in a few wins against some other fighters who are in trouble of retiring. We expect a good fight and wish we could keep both of them, but alas....”

Prelim Bout #2: Spyro Demetrios (5-4) vs. Oskar Jools (1-2)

Oskar Jools weighs in on this fight for us: “The only thing Spyro has over me is experience, but that won't help him tonight. I took a few tough losses, but I leaned a lot from them and watch for me to beging a winning streak tonight that will lead up to a championship title fight!”

Spyro responds: “What exactly makes Jools think he is ready to start winning? He was knocked out on his ass in embarrassing fashion in his last two fights, and frankly I expect the same thing to happen tonight. I shouldn't even waste my time commenting on what Oskar has to say. My fists will do all the talking tonight.”

Support Bout: Bronte Lazar (5-4-1) vs. Rashawn Modestine (2-2)

Michjo: “We thought Bronte was on his way back before getting his clock cleaned with a first round knockout in his last outting. Granted, it came from Claude Juvenal, but we think he could have last more than 1 round. Modestine should get a pretty good idea of where he stands against the sometimes great, but often inconsistant Lazar.”

Co-Feature: Dmitri Draco (4-0) vs. Gib Wilmot (5-4)

Roadbuster: “Tonight we find out of Draco is the real deal. He gets a shot at the former champ. A win for Draco, especially a dominating win like we are seeing from him, would go a long way in determining whether he is of championship caliber or not. On the other hand, Wilmot has a lot of pride and would like nothing more than to hand the intimidating Russian his first BWC loss, not to mention get back in the mix for a chance to win the title back.”

Main Event: BWC Champion Randall Grax (8-3) vs. Claude Juvenal (8-3)

Roadbuster: “Speaking of the Championship, it is on the line tonight. Juvenal is the undisputed #1 contender for the belt. He comes in winning 4 consecutive bouts over the likes of Ridley and Ulises to name a few. Grax won the title against Ulises and has now won 5 bouts in a row. The X factor in this fight is the fact that these two fighters fought twice before! Once in the tournament and again the following month, February. Juvenal came out the winner both times, once by UD and the other by KO in the 11th. I really think Grax has something to prove, not only as a champ, but there is that revenge factor. I can't predict this fight, but lets just say I have a wad of money on.......the champ.”

Michjo Peters has the recap of the September 14, 2005 card:

Opening Bout: Ramiro vs. Ingvar

“Ramiro's first 20 seconds in the BWC was about as ugly as it gets. The first punch thrown by Ingvar catches Ramiro square in the chin and he drops like a ton of bricks. He barely answers the 8 count, but does get on his feet and finishes the round. It says something about a fighter who can get up from a knockdown and come back strong, and that is exactly what Ramiro did. In the second round, Ramiro unleashes a right hook that sends Ingvar to the ground for a 6 count. The third round was very even with both fighters landing some nice combinations. In the fourth, Ingvar's legs looked wobbly and Ramiro went on the offensive, knocking Ingvar down 3 times in the round to pick up a 4th round TKO in his debut!”

Prelim Bout #1: Nicholas vs. Germano

Not really a great fight considering it was a retirement match. Germano cut open Nicholas early in the fight and Nicholas really covered up after that and was very defensive. Germano knocked him down late in the fight and went on to win the unanimous decision fairly easily. Nicholas will have to hand uip the gloves.

Prelim Bout #2: Demetrios vs. Jools

“A lot of jawing between the two fighters before the fed was the lead in for a great bout. Demetrios took control of the fight early on, but Jools finished very strong in a very competative fight. Both fighters gave it their all, but it was Oskar Jools who won by spilt decision. Jools celebrated wildly while Demetrios was left to ponder the decision, which he thought was out of whack. He immediately asked for a rematch, but whether or not he gets one remains to be seen. The fans would love to see one, as this was a great fight.”

Support Bout: Lazar vs. Modestine

“You never know which Bronte Lazar will show up, but lately he has looked reaelly good more often than not. Tonight was one of his best outtings, and it only lasted 2 minutes and 40 seconds. Modestine didn't land a single punch and was just overwhelmed by the power shots of Lazar. The ref stopped the fight, without argument from Modestine near the end of the first round. This is the second time Lazar has knocked out his opponent in the first round.”

Co-Feature: Draco vs. Wilmot

“Wilmot took a very early lead in this fight while Draco was playing it conservative in his biggest bout to date. It only took about 3 or 4 rounds for Draco to warm up though, and from then on I don't think Wilmot took a single round in this fight. Combined with a knockdown in round 11, Draco easily improved to 5-0 in his young career with a 12 round unanimous decision.

Main Event: Juvenal vs. BWC Champ Grax

“Grax had the better first round in this fight, but things quickly shifted in favor of Juvenal. A solid second round gave him confidence and then in the third he knocked down the champ with an overhand right. Grax was able to answer to a 7 count and the fight resumed. Juvenal continued to dominate the fight and around the 6th or 7th round most of the fans in attendance thought they would be seeing a new champion crowned.

But Grax seemed to find a second wind late in the 7th round and it carried over into the eighth. Juvenal may have been feeling too cocky and Grax took advantage, playing possum and drawing Juvenal in until he was able to set him up for a combination of blows, ending with a right cross that completely knocked Juvenal down, and out, for the 10 count. Grax got quite a scare in this fight, but he retains his BWC Title with an 8th round knockout!”

Wrapup:

“Tonight, Simon Nicholas hangs up his gloves with a career record of 2-7 and career earnings of $1,530,700. Not a bad sum of money to invest at his young age. We wish Simon the best in his future.”

Our experts are here, as always, to break down tonight's card.

Opening Bout: Simba Wawrzyniec (2-5) vs. Luis Ramiro (1-0)

Roadbuster: “Simba takes another shot at it tonight. We keep waiting and waiting for him to break out and start a winning streak, but to date, his longest winning streak is 1 fight. Both of his wins come by knockout, so it seems like if Ramiro can avoid the big punches, he has a great shot. Ramiro knocked out Ingvar in his first fight in the 4th round and we will learn a little more about this new comer tonight.”

Prelim Bout #1: Gennaro Danut (3-5) vs. Luis Barrage (3-4-1)

Peters: “Barrage seemed to be putting things together until he stepped up the quality of opponents and got put in his place by Jack Ridley. He only has 2 losses since the opening tournament, but only has 2 wins as well, with a draw against Lazar. Danut just can't seem to get the job done. His only win in his last 4 fights is against Simba. He needs to beat somebody other than the last ranked fighter if he ever wants to advance his career.”

Prelim Bout #2: Oskar Jools (2-2) vs. Sypro Demetrios (5-5)

Spyro: “I have thought of nothing since last month except for getting Jools in the ring tonight. He is going around proclaiming victory, but not even all of the judges saw it that way. Tonight, I will put an end to Jools and his mouthing off. Winning this fight has comsumed me for 36 days, and it all culminates tonight.”

Jools: “Spyro should thank me for even granting a rematch. I whipped him once and he couldn't take it. After tonight, I expect he will probably hang up the gloves because he has to realize he is not even near the class of fighter I am.”

Support Bout: Bronte Lazar (6-4-1) vs. Ron Lennon (3-4)

Roadbuster: “Lazar's only loss in his last 6 bouts is to Claude Juvenal, and who doesn't Claude beat? Well, besides the champ... I think Lazar continues his march into the upper echelon of fighters tonight and the BWC gave him a pretty easy opportunity to raise his stock. Lennon is what other sports call a journeyman. He'll stick around for a while winning the odd fight here and there, but if his record is ever over 500 I might just retire. That means it is not going to happen folks.”

Co-Feature: Dmitri Draco (5-0) vs. Foulke Ingvar (2-5)

Martti: “I want to address the fact that some of our commentators are saying we are setting Draco up for a big undefeated run to a title shot to promote him, but this simply is not true. Yes, there is more successful competition in the BWC ranks, but Draco is a new fighter and is facing a more experienced fighter in Ingvar. If he passes this test, he will be ready for the top fighters. I feel it is wrong to push a young fighter too fast and that is why Ingvar is his opponent tonight. Besides, Draco has not won this fight yet, so keep your comments about this until after the fight Mr. Roadbuster.”

Main Event: Jack Ridley (7-4) vs. Munro Ulises (8-4)

Roadbuster: “I am getting a little tired of seeing these two guys fight. No, strike that. I am getting a lot tired of seeing Ulises in these high profile fights. He lost the title, then lost to Juvenal and now when he loses to Ridley, can we please put him in the opening bout from now on? You know, I wouldn't be surprised to see him lose tonight and in his next fight. That would mean retirement and I would never have to comment on him again. Needless to say the smart money is on Ridley in a total ass kicking.”

Michjo Peters with the results of the October 2005 card:

Opening Bout: Wawrzyniec vs. Luis Ramiro

For an opening bout this one had a ton of action. Ramiro came out and easily took the first three rounds of this fight and it looked like it would be another early shower for Simba. But in the 4th round, Simba caught Luis with a hard right and sent him down for a 4 count. Ramiro got back to his feet and finished the round, but the momentume has swung to Simba. Simba controlled the next few rounds, but in the 7th, Ramiro found his second wind and put Simba down with a barrage of punches. Amazingly, Simba answered to a count of 6 and the fight went on. Simba took another round to get his bearings but then he poured it on, iknocking Ramiro down in both the 9th and 12th rounds. One judge must have been watching a different fight because he scored it even, but the other two judges gave it to Simba, who wins by majority decision!

Prelim Bout #1: Barrage vs. Danut

And this fight was the exact opposite of our opener. Neither fighter was throwing many punches in this fight. More specifically, Danut was just clinching and covering up the whole fight, while Barrage took his time and only worked what was there. Barrage sent Danut down for a 5 count in the 9th round and easily wins this pretty ordinary fight by unanimous decision. None of the judges even had it close.

Prelim Bout #2: Jools vs. Demetrios

Jools won the first bout between these two by split decision. Demetrios was out for revenge tonight and found a measure of it early, sending Jools down in the first round for a 5 count. The first 6 rounds of this fight were all for Spyro, but then he seemed to get tired and Jools was able to slowly climb back into the fight over the later rounds. In the last three rounds, Spyro's corner really urged him on and he did just enough to take 2 of the 3 final rounds on all three judges cards for the narrow, yet unanimous 12 round decision victory!

Support Bout: Lennon vs. Lazar

This bout was completely one sided. Lazar dominated from the opening bell and it looked like he could have knocked Lennon out whenever he wanted, but that he wanted to get some work, so the fight lasted 7 rounds before Lazar finally wouldn't let up and the ref had to pull the fighters apart and stop it. He got no argument from Lennon, who was entirely outclassed tonight.

Co-Feature: Draco vs. Ingvar

This was not even a fair fight folks. Draco tore Ingvar apart in 4 short rounds. He knocked him down once in the 2nd, twice in the 3rd round and then knocked him out stone cold in the 4th round with a minute left in the round. It was a very impressive victory for Draco, who is still undefeated in the BWC, but he should step up the comptetion now.

Main Event: Ulises vs. Ridley

I think everyone expected a quick, decisive victory in this fight and that is exactly what we got. However, most people thought it would be in favor of Ridley, but that is not what we got. Ulises sent Ridley down just 38 seconds into the fight. Ridley bounced right back up, but went down just 50 seconds later! That time it took him an 8 count to get up and he looked out on his feet. Ulises moved in and landed a huge uppercut and Ridley was totally dazed. Ulises motioned to the ref to stop this so he wouldnt have to embarrass Ridley, and to my surprise, the ref did! Ridley argued, but it was useless. Ulises is the winner by knockout at the 2:21 mark of Round 1! Later, Ridley complainded about the quick stoppage and also said he was battling the flu and would like a rematch. Ridley has dropped 3 of his last 4 fights, and after being considered a title contender, his career is now on the ropes.

Our experts break down this Championship Card for you.

Opening Bout: Foulke Ingvar (2-6) vs. Gennaro Danut (3-6)

Roadbuster: “I have no idea why a man of my expertise keeps getting assigned to these opejning bouts, but here is what I am seeing. Ingvar faces retirement with a loss tonight. Danut should be retiring. These are the bottom two ranked boxers in the the BWC. These two guys fought once before in February and Danut took the victory by way of a 10th round knockout. We'll probably see the same results tonight. Kiss Foulke Ingvar goodbye.”

Prelim Bout #1: Rashawn Modestine (2-3) vs. Spyro Demetrios (6-5)

Guest Commentator Oskar Jools: “Nothing is worst than sitting home and watching this fight on Pay per View. Spyro is a punk and was so lucky he got a gift from the judges. Its because he has more fights and the judges decided to give him the fight based on that. I beat him once and I will beat him again. Well, that is if he can get by Modestine, which I don't see happening anyways.”

Prelim Bout #2: Alfred Germano (5-6) vs. Gib Wilmot (5-5)

Roadbuster: “Germano showed a lot of promise in the opening tournament, but has been a total flop since then. I guess that strong early showing is keeping him afloat, although he has already faced an elimination fight and has won only 2 of his last 7 fights. A win over Nicholas in his last fight moves him back up the card a bit, but I expect the former champ to send him back down the cards and towards retirement. Gib has struggled to find some consistancy since winning and then quickly losing the title. If nothing else, he should pick up an easy win tonight, and hopefully increase his confidence.”

Support Bout: Claude Juvenal (8-4) vs. Luis Barrage (4-4-1)

Martti: “Barrage has only lost once in his last 5 fights so we see him as a real up and comer who just got off to a shaky start in the beginning of his career. He really steps it up a notch tonight when he faces Claude Juvenal. Juvenal had won 5 fights in a row before losing a couple of months ago in the title fight against Grax. I am sure he wants to get another crack at the title, so there is so much on the line for both fighters. It promises to be a great one.”

Co-Feature: Bronte Lazar (7-4-1) vs. Dmitri Draco (6-0)

Roadbuster: “How about this fight folks? This is going to be better than our title fight main event! Lazar was thrust into the spotlight and didn't handle it well, suffering some bad losses early on. Lately though, he has stepped up his game and has just 1 defeat in his last 7 outtings. This is the Lazar we all thought we would see from day 1. But now he faces the undefeated Dmitri Draco, who has chewed up and spit out all of his competition so far. Only 2 of his fights have gone all 12 rounds and 3 of them lasted less than 4 full rounds. This one could go either way and I am expecting a very intense, heavy hitting fight. I'll tell you what though....Draco remains undefeated, moving closer to what could be the biggest money fight ever between Draco and the Champ.”

Main Event: Randall Grax (9-3) vs. Munro Uiises (9-4)

Michjo: “Grax voiced his displeasure at having to face Ulises once again, but the deal is, Ulises was the champ and deserves a rematch. The reason it is coming so soon is that nobody else has stepped up and beat the top competition. Ulises just knocked Ridley out in 1 round and this could be his last shot at the title for a while if he doesn't get the job done. Both men will give it their all tonight.”
