I can't wait. The background looks awesome and they are starting with 20 castaways. I read the bio's on CBS.com today. Still to many pretty people but they look like a fun group including 3 lawyers, should be a good time as always.

Queer Eye for the Straight Alien. :)

I have no idea why, but at first glance, I read "Krispy Creme for the Kirsty Alley".

i hear 3 people get voted out on the first show.

Actually, from what I read, it's two. From what I've heard, the deal is that all 20 people get to one place - and they're left there, to figure out what the hell to do (in other words, they get no instruction to start the game). By the end of the first show though, there are two "team leaders" appointed (I assume through challenges?) who then pick their 8 team members - leaving 2 people behind.

It's a weekly ritual for us. Sometimes they start off slow and we have to force ourselves to stay interested, but it's always an entertaining middle and end to the series.

Looking forward to the next season. Add the fact that Amazing Race will be starting up in a couple weeks and it looks like a full TV schedule this season to go along with 24. (if 3 shows a week count as a full schedule)

I still want to know, don't these people watch past Survivor seasons? When does "start singing annoying made up songs and annoying the piss out of everyone from moment one" sound like a good strategy?

Without giving too much away for the west coasters, I found it odd when they were picking tribes and down to the last 3 people.. choice is made and then a few of the people who WERE picked started crying, like they had a lot of time to really bond with those being booted.

"If that singing woman doesn't get booted off tonight, I will never watch this show again."
- My wife, approx. 20 minutes into tonight's episode. Completely serious.

I'm glad I'm not the only person that found that very odd. Some were crying like they had just lost a life-long friend.

I'm guessing that is just the release of a lot of emotion. After getting no instructions and then finding out they had to pick the teams kickball style and send two people home that way, emotions were running very high. Finding themselves very nearly not picked, and then having to send someone home with their pick, clearly was too much for them to handle.

I'm trying to figure out why they were wearing heels and dresses and stuff. They've dumped the survivors off on islands before with the stuff they were wearing, so you'd think SOMEONE would learn and be walking around in jeans/shorts, a decent shirt, good shoes, and a bathing suit as underwear...

Before they told them they were going to be taking publicity shots. Of course, you'd think they'd still learn and say the heck with what I look like, let me be comfortable just in case.

I like the Kid Rock hill billy dude. He's hilarious. And to be called a dumbass by him? The ultimate insult. I hope he wins the whole thing.

I like the hillbilly also. I felt that the first 2 eliminations were worthless.

They've all been through the casting process and they all how much they overcame to actually get cast on the show... so I'm guessing it was just empathy for someone who went through all that only to get the old heave ho on day one.

Heck, I felt sorry for that old bat too, even while cringing horribly at her display. Although her not getting picked was the best thing for everyone, herself included. She would have been punched in the face before the first tribal council.

Does anybody else get the nagging sense that the uber-hillbilly guy is a fake? I keep thinking he probably has a British accent as soon as the camera's off him... he seems like a parody of a redneck.

I totaly agree. Either they got the uber redneck or he is puttin on at least a semi facade. And I love Angelina, I felt so bad when Colby didn't pick her, i'm glad she made it thru.

I don't watch Survivor, but I have noticed this phenomenon on most reality shows. I'm sure TV moves things at quite a faster pace than it actually occurs, but still. Even if I spent a month solid with a group of strangers, I seriously doubt I'd miss more than one or two, and certainly wouldn't be moved to tears if one of them happened to leave, particularly a day into the competition.

the hillbilly is Twila from the last show, or at least a relative or something. They talk alike and act alike. It's like reincarnation or something!

Wouldn't be too bad, except the main people I was referring to about crying were Jo the black lady, she was a team captain so it's not like she was really worried about not being picked, and Coby the gay guy, he was one of the first few picks.

I was actually quite suprised they didn't pick the young guy and ended up with Willard on one of the teams, doesn't hurt though that the lady who picked him looks to be one of the elders.

Was pretty glad to see Jo voted off at the first tribal council, there's just something about the overly bossy person acting like they've been in this kind of situation before grating on my nerves.

Not being mean, but was that 'singing lady' retarded? If so, CBS should be slapped. The babe quotient doesn't seem to be as high this time either, IMO.

I thought the two people trying to outswim the boat was one of the funnier Survivor moments I could remember. :)

It still amazes me that anybody will enter the game with that kind of attitude. Everybody time someone does that, they become a major target. Wasn't she also the one that kept yelling "News Flash" so she could set the rule of work 2 hours, rest 1? Not smart.

That was very funny. Seeing them hit the water and then being passed in about 5 seconds was great. I wonder if either of them had trouble staying above water for the whole trip? They were a LONG way out.

I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of the 2 people voted off. Overall I enjoyed the show and I thought it was a lively and fun group. I am also glad to see that the overly bossy person got voted off. Most of the time the geeks get together and vote off the buff guys who pose a physical threat to everyone and all that does is hurt their tribe in the early challenges.

Anyone catch Angie (tattoo chick) when she lifted her arm and already had a patch of hair under there that would make most men proud. About jumped out of my seat when I saw that she had Alf in her armpit.
