I though I would start a thread on the NFL off-season, starting to kick into high gear with the Free Agency market opening in a few weeks, and the combine this or next week.

I expect the Dolphins to announce very soon that they are trading some more draft picks for him.

Drew Bledsoe is the next. I think it will be the Browns or Cowboys that go after him.

Garcia to Detroit, Bledsoe to Dallas. Write it down.
Brad Johnson is getting whacked, as will Brian Griese... just my guess.
Mark Brunell would be gone, if his contract wasn't such a cap-killer.
Rich Gannon and Kurt Warner will also likely be on the market.
Oh, and I believe Jeff George is a free agent.

Rumor has it that Matt Leinart is considering entering the NFL supplemental draft.

Rudi Johnson gets franchised.

Not sure how Johnson can be pissed about getting a GUARANTEED 6 million dollar contract. Realistically, how big of a bonus can he expect to get? Theres probably several backs on his level available this offseason.

Wow. If that happens, San Fran fans would be dancing in the street. They'll get their guy, who would've been the first overall pick, with a first round pick from next year that'll probably be low top-10 at the best (as a guess) plus have the number one overall pick this year.

I have no idea where you got that from, but I don't believe it.
Anyway there is Aaron Rodgers available on as of now, it is not clear who is the better QB between Matt Leinhart and Aaron Rodgers.
Leinhart got the most publicity because he played on USC's national stage. That's about all I know.

The Leinart rumor has been going around since Norm Chow left. Apparently, Matt wasn't too happy about it.

"The Titans are $27 million over the cap and have to be under it by March 1."
How in the heck do you get $27 million over the cap?

It's that carryover money from Dan Pastorini's signing bonus.

Akili Smith has signed with the Bucs.

Akili Smith has signed with the Bucs.
I wonder why. I still think Tim Couch is the better QB between the two and that's not saying much.
I think I heard somewhere that Walter Payton had more passing TD's in his career than Akili Smith had in his.

The Bucs did in fact sign Akili Smith. But what actually transpired may make it seem like a better story.
Akili Smith signed up for the NFL Europe Draft. And when approached by the Bucs, he said he wanted to prove someway, somehow that he belonged in the NFL and this was his only avenue. So the Bucs signed him on the condition he would still play in NFL Europe.
So we signed him, but he will be in NFL Europe proving his worth first.
Good luck, and I hope he comes out of Europe as a QB worthy of the 1st round 3rd overall pick! :)

Not a bad risk/reward situation for the Bucs.

At least if he doesn't cut it he can tell his grand kids he gave it his best shot. :)

According to Len Pasquarelli, the Browns have traded Gerald Warren to Denver for a 4th rounder pending financial details being worked out.

Sounds like Garcia might be headed to the Bucs. ESPN said he was in to take a physical.

Pats released Troy Brown. Could be a nice third WR/dime corner pick-up.

Ack, Cowboys release Dexter Coakley. Although I heard that would be the case if they weren't able to redo Coakley's contract.

The Steelers signed Larry Foote to a 5 year deal. Kendrell Bell is definitely not coming back now. If healthy, Bell could be a nice pickup.

Bell will make some money with so many teams going to the 3-4 this season. He can be a stud if he stays healthy.

Miami had their Pro Day today, Antrelle Rolle ran a 4.45-4.5 40 outdoors on grass. Not too shabby.

I hope we sign Kendrell Bell, since that is a realistic option.
Unrealistically, I wouldn't mind Ty Law or Samari Rolle or Kenny Lucas, really. Anyone will suffice!
