Heard a few reports that Walter Jones has signed at least a 3 year deal with Seattle, anybody able to verify this? Also sounds like Hasselbeck is close to terms.

Say hello to the franchise tag Shaun, it's all yours this year. Now if we can just sign Lucas long term for non-outrageous money.

7 years, $50 million according to Rotoworld - $15 million bonus. Good deal, since they can now franchise Hasselbeck - and keep the two they wanted to keep.

That's the beauty, Hasselbeck had said he wanted to be the first to sign, and is apparently close to signing a long term deal, so they won't even have to franchise him.

7 years, now watch him get hurt 2 games into the season, or more ironically, during training camp.

Still really happy with this, definite first step in the right direction.

Yeah, ESPN Radio was reporting the 7 years, $50M earlier today. As for Alexander, I was under the impression they were letting him go.

I think the Alexander situation is one where if they can get away with franchising him so they can get something for him, then great, but if they had to use the tag on Jones or Hasselbeck, they'd use it there first. Can't picture them using the tag on Lucas (heckuva pay raise), but it could also come down to how much cap room they want to use on Alexander because of the number of free agents they need to try and re-sign.

If Hass signs a reasonable deal and talks with Lucas go well, I could see them tagging Alexander and getting one more year out of him or dishing him (as a franchise deal wouldn't be a cap hit at all once he's gone, I think as there is no bonus?).

Either way, hopeful signs to get Jones locked. Now if we do have a RB, he'll still have one of the best left sides in the game to run behind.

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with OT Walter Jones on a seven-year deal that includes a signing bonus exceeding $15 million and includes additional roster bonuses over the first three years. Jones' new deal averages more than $7 million annually, putting the veteran tackle on par with the highest paid linemen in the league. Wasn't there a big rumor floating around about a trade of Dillon for Alexander a few years ago? I'm personally not sold on Johnson and would almost rather see the Hawks draft a RB and go with youth, but that said, I'd prefer to get something/anything for Alexander instead of letting him walk.

are we really on a first name basis with him?

LOL...to think we were somewhat close to signing Taylor last year.

Actually, considering how awful our secondary was, maybe he would've been an improvement...even injured.

are we really on a first name basis with him?I'm relative new to the football universe and the first thing I thought of was "Sweetness".

Maybe because it's so fun to keep reading his son is likely to play for the Amsterdam Admirals this spring.
