Netflix is $17.99 a month. 3-at-a-time program is $17.99 plus any applicable tax per month. There are no additional charges. There are no late fees or due dates — even shipping is free both ways!
BlockBuster is only $14.99 a month and you get two free rental coupons a month that can be used at your local blockbuster for movies.
who try both online service? which one is better?
thanks

Question I have is Blockbuster.com looks as if you want to rent a episodic series (like Sopranos) you have to do it 1 disc per, and usually they are 4+ disc for the whole season. So to watch the whole season, you'd have to use up your entire 3 rentals and still +1 when you returned one.
Is netflix the same way?

yes, Netflix is individual discs to. makes sense, really - just keeps the discs in distribution. not that hard to juggle though.
as for the differences:
Blockbuster is cheaper but Netflix has a faster turnaround.

The first thing you want to find out is where is your distribution center.
I am with Netflix because they have a center in Denver. I mail them today they get them tomorrow.
I started with Wal~Mart beause it was cheaper and they do have more of the "mega hits" available "Now", but mailing my discs all the way across the country to Arkansas killed everything with the 4 day mailing time, 8 day turnaround.

Exactly...I use Blockbuster and have next day delivery due to my location.

I unintentionally neglected the "generally" part in the Netflix turnaround comment...

We just started the Bbuster program and I know that I will never enter the store again. We have seen 12 movies in 3 weeks. The $14.99/month is great as as mentioned we have about a 1 day turnaround and it's so easy to use/select your movies!

And again, those two rentails in-store per month can be used for games. So, if you like to get 2-3 games a month, Blockbuster kills two birds with one stone. As to the turnaround, I rarely wait more than a day for my movies once they ship and the return address on the DVD sleaves are local to Phoenix.

I'm in Spokane and Netflix has faster turn around here. What bothered me about Blockbuster (and sometimes Netflix) is when they receive my movie (or should have) and it takes them a full 24 hours to put the next one in the mail. Netflix seems a little better (at least up here) in receiving the movie and shipping the next one promptly.
I also like to support someone other than Blockbuster who has pissed me off a time or two with late fees in the past.
I have a friend who had both as well and he switched over to Blockbuster permanently, so I think it is a close call. What I'm not sure about with Blockbuster is the ability to change the account types (I never tried). During Christmas break I changed my Netflix account to 5 out at a time and when vacation was over cranked it back down to 3.

I have used both services, and I found that here in South Seattle Netflix had a 1-2 day better turnaround time.
However I prefer to use the instore blockbuster deal. For about the same price you can get a new video in 10 minutes instead of a couple of days. Just my opinion though

We had netflix for awhile, cancelled it b/c we just weren't using it enough, and some months later signed up for blockbuster. The coupons, specificlaly that they can be used for video game rentals, makes it head and shoulders above netflix for me.

I use Netflix because I'm a dork and like the fact that they have RSS feeds for my queue and new releases.
And they have the occasional obscure movie that Blockbuster doesn't or won't carry - like Battle Royale.

Or the complete seasons of Star Trek DS9, The Next Generation, and Voyager.

I am not sure about Next Gen or Voyager, but I know that both carry DS9. I personally watched DS9 with Blockbuster

...
I find that most of the time Blockbuster has shipped my next movie to me even before they have actually received the last one I returned. The sleeves are barcoded, and BB downloads a "traffic report" from the Postal Service. I have been wholly impressed with Block Buster. Much better than previous experience with Netflix a year or so ago. Typically I drop a DVD in the mail at the office, the next day I usually see they have shipped me a new selection. I typically get it the next day, but sometimes it takes two days. Another thing. Once I didn't receive a movie after about 4 days. I clicked on a link or two to report it, and they sent a replacement out that same day with no questions asked. Not sure if that would differ with netflix.

Yup, same here (except that I'm in Dallas, not Denver anymore). Movies get back to us in a flash.
Plus, Blockbuster is the devil. I would do anything to help tear down their evil empire...

Anyone know if there is a way to find out the nearest distribution center for Blockbuster? The Netflix center is really close to me, so I get 2 day turnarounds. Does anyone know if BB ships on Saturday? That might be a big thing for me too, since it gives an extra day that Netflix doesn't

I hate to conduct any business with Blockbuster because I don't agree with their business practices (and this is not a recent thing). I can't, at this time, ever see myself choosing Blockbuster over Netflix.

I use Blockbuster, and while I enjoy this method of movie rental (rental store is 18 miles away), their turnaround is 8 days for me. I live in Missouri and the distribution center is in Denver. Might go the Wal-Mart way.

I'm very happy with Netflix especially since they have a distribution center right here in Oklahoma City.
