Channel 614
Gol TV looks good so far. Commentary has been good for the games I watched, a couple where they picked up the British TV commentary feed apparently, plus a US guy for the Barcelona game last night that actually sounded like he was familiar with soccer and not just reading from a sheet of paper (like a couple of the FSC people). I think he was called Leslie Dean.
Two complaints so far though, the guide said yesterday's Spanish game was Atletico Madrid v Villarreal, but it was actually Real Madrid v Athletic Bilbao that was shown, and the news program that had some clips with both a Spanish and English voiceover talking at the same time was pretty annoying.
Their soccer news program Super Stadium has to be seen to be believed. It's a Mexican TV soccer program, so it's all in Spanish, but they've got a couple of guys voice overing an English translation. Unfortunately it sounds like they're translating as it happens, nothing prepared. If you ran a Spanish language TV show through one of those garbled online translation sites, it would come out like this.
I'm working from home and fighting the urge to go watch the Guatemalan soccer that's on Gol TV as we speak.
(I just moved this post from another thread, seems more at home here)

Speed Channel is pretty good if you're into that sort of thing. Loads of NASCAR coverage at the moment, plus it covers the Formula 1 races live during the season.
With FSC and GolTV, I'll never have to watch a Mexican game with Spanish commentary again. And that's a good thing.

Anyone notice that the Directv rates went up again? :(

Haven't seen a benefit to the Sports Pack, so I wouldn't have noticed the new channel.
Yes, rates went up again. They are still cheaper than my local cable company, and their customer service is still worlds better. I'll deal with it for now.

I'm confused by the notice I got from DirecTV about what packages the rates are being hiked up for. The package I have does not match any of the descriptions in the notice. I assume, of course, that my rates are going up $2, but I can't really tell. For instance, I have Total Choice w/HBO and Cinemax, but I couldn't even find an option to have HBO with Cinemax combined like I have it. Even on channel 988, where they run through the coverages, you can't get what I have, apparently.
Plus, I also saw that local channels are supposed to be included, but I don't know if that means here, or even where to find my local channels (I have basic cable for locals).
I got rid of the sports pack because, in reality, I found it to only be worth it during college football season, and even then, it was good for maybe 1 or 2 extra games a week. And seeing as though I usually get anywhere from 1 to 6 games on during a typical Saturday afternoon, that's enough for me. The rest - racing, soccer, volleyball, college baseball, etc. - doesn't appeal to me, or at least not enough to pay $10 extra.
