Anyone else as pumped for tonight's show as me?
I'm looking forward to this more than I did the Super Bowl this year. This is easily the most excited I've been over the season premiere of a TV show.

I am also looking forward to this. I just watched the last episode of season 1 today via Netflix so that worked out perfectly.
I just wonder what it says about me that I wasn't really bothered by the language in the slightest.

I think the problem was mostly in the pilot episode. The language seemed most over the top in that particular episdoe, especially in the first few minutes. I think it turned off a lot of critics.
On top of that I though the first episode was pretty so-so, so that probably didn't help things.

I spent this weekend watching all of season 1 again to be pumped.
I cannot wait. Best show on TV.

Well I am sure they didn't get to the Mr. Wu episode but I could see how that would turn people off, but only because I was really paying attention to it for that one.

You said it.

A whole lot more wheels were set in motion than I expected for Episode 1.

Also, if anyone saw the commercial for the upcoming series, Rome, it looks freaking awesome as well. HBO is the gold standard.

Agreed on Rome.
I cannot wait for the Fall just for that,

Deadwood, The Sopranos, Rome.... Oh.My.God... I wish I could get into Carnivale, but I haven't been able to. Can someone provide a basic gist of the plot and what it's about?

I thought the episode was very very BUSY so much going on.... almost seemed like 2 or 3 episodes in 1.... which means this season should be amazing.... although it does worry me that they may end up going to fast and run out of things to do in the future...
Rome looks amazing... my favorite era in history.... looks very brutal and sexual kinda like deadwood in a way... all HBO staples CANT WAIT :o

Can someone provide a basic gist of the plot and what it's about? The very basic gist of Carnivale is the battle between good and evil. And I mean those in the most pure biblical sense of evil and good.
It's set in the dust bowl depression era of the U.S, with one half following the story of a traveling Carnival (and more specifically one young man who's joined it) and the other half of the story covering a preacher and his sister.
It's a fantastic show, IMHO.

Didn't like how there was much not told in the show last night.
I watched the first season up til yesterday afternoon. Then I watched the first episode.
When did (pardon my lack of name memory) Utter become deputy? Why wasn't there much detail in the craps dealer stealing enough money for what's her face to get a place? The main guy, he built that house pretty quick.
Just seemed to be a lot of stuff that they left for assumption. It was good, and I am so looking forward to the rest of the season. I just think they didn't connect the 2 seasons together very well.

I think it was pretty obvious there was a substantial amount of time passed, 6 months or more, IMHO. I didn't mind it, as it allows them to advance a few things (building a house, the craps dealer Eddie leaving) without having to do it on-screen.
It's not as if it wasn't all explained within the episode, so it didn't bother me.

Man, it's going to be interesting with Bullock having the wife and kid in town while sleeping with Garrett. I'm sure that'll come back to bite him in the butt. Though I think the most fun will be seeing how Swearingen deals with the county officials and the Governor :D.

I was with friends while trying to watch Deadwood and they wouldnt shut up! I saw almost nothing and heard even less. Im going to have to catch a replay of it.
I think last season had some great new shows, Battlestar Galactica, Deadwood, even Desperate Housewives I enjoy.

Is this show going to be going on to 3rd season? I thought it was going to start up again in the fall or this winter?

Awesome I was hoping HBO would renew this along with Rome but Rome might not go past a 2nd season at best.

It was scheduled originally for March with the Sopranos but they split the 2 up. Shame, thats 2 great hours of tv.

Yeah, might be time to tune out of HBO for a few months and either pick up STARZ or no channel at all. I watch for a lot of their high quality shows, but it looks like the upcoming 5/6 month stretch will be pretty bare.
I love Curb Your Enthusiasm, Deadwood, the Wire, Extras, Entourage, Rome, Inside the NFL, and enjoy the non-political/Bush bashing (rants about family values and drugs) parts of Real Time with Bill Mahar. But the Sopranos has really taken a nose dive for me and they seem to be banking on that being the only HBO Original they need to offer this Spring.
I will definitely be back for season 3 though! I love Al S. and the character development. And Mr. Wu is quickly becoming one of those background characters where I really start to enjoy their smaller segments more than the main story. (Much like the lower-level drug dealers in the Wire) I was much more interested in Tolliver's dirty casino and Mr. Wu's struggle in China Town last year then in Seth's crisis with his wife or Sol Star's relationship with Trixie, even though I think those were the main storylines that we were supposed to be most interested in.

I've heard rumors that season 2 will be out on DVD in late February...anyone know if that's true or not? I hate not having HBO and having to wait on DVD releases to watch shows that I like...
