I used to use this in college and I loved it. It didn't affect anything and it was nice getting updates as the weather changed in my town. that's the website I always use to check my local weather. I'm actually planning on downloading the free weather updates on my new computer.

I didn't notice any spyware, but it annoyed me after a while.

Whenever I work on someones computer the first thing that is uninstalled is always weatherbug. Just hate it. If you want to check the weather go to weather.com, or here in my town they have a number you can call that gives the current temperature and weather forecast for the day.

Basically, Weatherbug itself is adware, but the installer bundles along various bits of spyware for your enjoyment.

I have weatherbug on my work computer (sometimes set it to a warm place just so I don't think about the cold).. ran microsoft spyware in real time and scan mode, it doesn't detect anything, and I constantly sweep with AdAware as well

About a year ago Weatherbug sucked big-time for having all kinds of junk come along with it. I had to uninstall and dig to get rid of all of its tendrils off a friend's computer.
I have no idea if they've cleaned up their act in the last year.

I tried it for a week and it got annoying REAL quick. I realized that I could live with my weather updates being slightly behind up-to-the-second.

Damn Weatherbug HQ is moving into my already crowded office building soon.

If you're using Firefox, just get this extension (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0&os=Windows&id=398). Live weather plus the 5-day forecast in your status bar. It pulls its information from weather.com and clicking on an icon will take you to your city's page on their site.
If you're not using Firefox...well, *start* using Firefox, and then install the extension above. :)

Last week I started using the extension that Simms just mentioned and it's great... :)

WeatherBug does effect CPU performance, it just depends on the state of your CPU and what else you have running. I do a lot of Internet work -- FTP, updating Web site, etc. -- and I can't run WeatherBug because it slows me down too much.
I think it also depends on which WeatherBug package you used whether or not it has spyware and adbots. I've turned into the amateur IT guy in our office handling everybody's basic PC problems and I have found spyware and adbots tied to WeatherBug on every machine running it. A couple of runs with AdAware and SpyBot usually take care of them.
