Should be a good show. Andy Taylor won't be playing guitar. He flew back to England because his dad is very ill. They are having a guy fill in for him (but it's not Warren Cuccorulo...to bad :()

Anyway, got tickets last night off of ebay. Sitting on John Taylor's side of stage; which is good because he is the only memeber I like listening to or watching. Great bass player. Geddy Lee clone with one of the best bass lines ever written in the 80s: Rio.

Should be fun.

Well, hi there Hurst.
I hope you have a great time. I missed out on the shows so far, but I did see them play with Dom in Atlanta last December. He does an OK job.
Are you a board member at dd.com?

Nope, not a board member there. I must say, I wasn't planning on going, but the ticket price i got was too good to pass up.

Call me a classic 'fair weather' Duran Duran fan. I like a lot of their stuff, and they wrote really good songs. I just have an aligence to a select few bands...browsing their message boards takes up enough time.

rock on!

Hope you have a great time, like I said. Recent set lists have only had 4 to 5 songs from their newest CD. So you should hear some great classics.

The Excel in St. Paul. It's a half house show...so my tickets are twice as close as what they normally would be.

there's a couple of chicks here at work going to see them later on when they get up this way. should be a lot of girls there.

good call on John Taylor. an underrated bassist - I assume partly because of his looks and partly because of the band he was in. I'm also an Andy Taylor fan - I have Thunder somewhere on tape, but I haven't had any luck finding any copies via p2p...

I saw them here in vancouver on march 4th. Good show, but I was disappointed that they didn't play new moon on monday, a view to a kill or the reflex. The entire crowd was shouting "reflex, reflex, reflex" as they did their final bows, but to no avail. :(

I saw them 2-3 years ago when they first got the original lineup back together... it was a fantastic show. They pretty much played anything anyone would have wanted to hear.

Thought I would paste a quasi review of the show I posted at a local music forum. I don't write reviews...haha; but, I thought I would post my thoughts of what I liked and didn't like about the show.

============================
Very good show.

There were a handful of people there (myself included) that weren`t there JUST to see John`s pretty face. He has been a huge inspiration to me for many, many years...and I don`t even play bass. It was a real treat to watch him play. Being able to watch his fingers for classis bass lines (rio and hungry like the wolf) made me realize why he was one of the most influential bass players from the 80s.

I was kinda pissed at first, because he started rio with his back to the crowd. He finally turned around during the first chorus.

And, dare I say, he still looks damn hot (in the most non-gay way I can say...haha).

Simon sang really well. They did tune down for Wild Boys (5th I think) but it didn`t take away from the song. The fill in guitar player was ok. Cheesed up some guitar parts (Rio) but had some pretty good moments. You could hear his leads really well. The whole mix was well balanced. Aside from some lack of definition in the bass and bass drum, the sound was very appealing to listen to.

roger`s drumming was not good. I am glad he was there, being an orignal guy. Still, he was very `limp wristed` in his playing and looked like he didn`t want to be there. He has never been a flashy guy, but he lacked emotion and intesity.

Nick was solid as ever. He actually managed to crack a couple smiles (probably hard with all that makeup he wears..haha) He still looks the same age as he did in 82.

I would certainly see them again. The only song they didn`t play that I wanted to hear was "Something I Should Know". Still, there were plenty of great songs that they did play.

Very well worth it.
