Hello All,
I just purchased FOF (last night) and I have some questions about editing the roster. I downloaded the player editor and I would like to know where I can find the key values for each column. It looks like the information is stored in some kind of relational database. I was wondering what the key values where for the following columns:
Position, hometown, home state, and college.

Also, I think that the draft round column is broken down by (round, pick), but what does the “draft pick” column mean?

I’m assuming that the “hall of fame” column means the likelihood that they will be inducted, but how are the points accumulated?

I also assume that the “defending” column is referring to how good of a defender they are, but does that mean at their position? Overall?

Is the salary column multiplied by 10,000? (i.e. somebody with a value of 75 would be making 750,000)

Any other tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Go to your program group for Front Office Football 2004 and open the Player File Generator. All of the file information is there -- CSV file format, position list, city list, college list, team list.

The draft pick column is for the ID of the team that drafted the player.

Hall of fame points are explained in the CSV file format information referred to above.

As for defending, stretch the column wider and you will see the columns are for defending run, defending man-to-man, defending zone, etc.

You are correct in your understanding of the salary column.

As for tips, I would advise not to use very many specific ratings (use the overall rating and let the game generate the specific ratings) and to save your work often.

Good luck.

Got one more question… I added Shawn Andrews to the Eagles (their first round draft pick from 2004) to the nfl2004playerfile.fdt file using Lighthousekeeper’s player editor. I entered him with a position number of 10 (RG) and an alternate position number of 11 (RT). When I open the game using that player file, it lists him as a RG but shows defensive rating where the bars are; when I go to the depth chart it will not let me put him in at the RG position and he is listed on the defensive depth chart. One thing I noticed with in the player file was that every player with a position id of 10 had an alternate position of 7. Do you think that the fact that he does not have a alternate position of 7 is causing an error?

Any help is appreciated.

I don't know the answer to your question, but here is a friendly bump to try to find someone who does.
