I really have no experience in searching for the cheapest airfare around, so i figured i'd ask here and see if anyone has had any positive experiences they'd like to share. I mess around a bit with expedia.com but their prices kept changed drastically in a matter of minutes. Thanks for any help

orbitz, travelocity, travelzoo (I think), and if all else fails, go to the actual airways website.

Don't do hotwire though. You buy a ticket, then they tell you what time it leaves, complete BS.

I like to go straight to the airline, but then, I usually fly the discount airlines.

Jet Blue, Airtran, Song, Independence, etc (I've only flown the first two)

www.jetblue.com
www.southwest.com

JetBlue is pretty good. I've had great experience with them. Cheap, but not the "cattle call" style that Southwest uses... you get a reserved seat, extra legroom, all new planes, and DirecTV at every seat.

Or imput what you want to pay at Priceline and they will either accept or reject it.

Sidestep.com is a good meta search engine that will go through orbitz contracted airlines, plus smaller airlines like alaska and southwest. unfortunately, you have to download a web application to use it.

Wow, I just checked out sidestep.com, and that site is very impressive. Far more useful results than any other site I've seen.

And it looks like you don't have to use the tool bar/web app any more. Nice.

I just tap into the 1,000,000 miles I've got in my Mileage Plus account...

Is there a way to do "Multi City" search on sidestep, because I can't find it. Other than that, good find, I may go here now instead of orbitz.
