Strange espn player page for Bonds has his name as "San Francisco" instead of Barry Bonds.

Is he that important to the city?

that's a fantasy baseball page so it is a union thing I believe.

I bet 100% of the people who own San Fransisco Of'er in fantasy baseball will be disappointed

So will the people who have Rusty Kuntz.

It's because Bonds isn't part of the union, and he hasn't licensed ESPN the right to his name

I thought every player had to be a part of the union?

Nope. Most are, though.

Actually, after a little research, all are except Bonds. I know there are a couple football players as well.

Lavar Arriington jumps to mind.

But wouldn't other players, especially those that have a strong role as union leaders, really be upset about this?

Any idea why he isn't part of the union?

because he feels that the union gains more from him than he gains from the union.

He's part of the union, but not part of the licensing agreements. Akin to what Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley were back in the day.

Was this the same deal with QB Bills and QB Eagles in Tecmo Super Bowl?

Bonds probably feels that he can get more money by licensing his name seperately.

ANy player in MLB who crossed the lines back in the strike year is not part of the Union. Matt Herges comes to mind

Benny Agbayani was a replacement player, and isn't a part of the league. some pitcher with the last name "Reed" (ex-Mets SP) also was a replacement player.

Bonds is part of the union, not part of the licensing agreement (where all the players share the money who are part of it), so he makes all of his own deals, from video games to jerseys to fantasy baseball. Michael Jordan had the same deal (he was only in EA games for awhile), Lavar Arrington are the only ones I can think of who do this though.

The other guys mentioned aren't in the union, period.

Either that or they weren't under contract. Notice Eric Dickerson is completely absent from the game as well?

Yeah, that is what I read. He isn't a part of the player's association licensing agreement so he can get his own agreements. As of last year, no other player ha pulled out for such reasons. Others are not members of the union, though.
