Strange espn player page for Bonds has his name as "San Francisco" instead of Barry Bonds.

Is he that important to the city?

He's part of the union, but not part of the licensing agreements. Akin to what Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley were back in the day.

Michael Jordan had the same deal (he was only in EA games for awhile), Lavar Arrington are the only ones I can think of who do this though.

Yeah, that is what I read. He isn't a part of the player's association licensing agreement so he can get his own agreements. As of last year, no other player ha pulled out for such reasons. Others are not members of the union, though.
