Ok, anyone ever had their employer send out a memo or letter that is meant to tel you something that is important, but they send the damn thing out too late, or with bad info? Idiots....

My CDL expires April 20th, and I have to have in renewed obviously. I have to have a haz-mat endorsement, like I have had since I got my CDL. Well, there are new procedures you have to go through in order to even renew your haz-mat endorsement. It used to be you just take the haz-mat test.

Well, as is normal with the government and trucking regulations, they can't figure out what is going to be implemented and when. New this year (about 3 years too late IMO) you also have to go through an FBI background check and be fully fingerprinted. This was supposed to have started in January. Since then I had heard until may.

Anyways, I get a letter in the mail from my company the other day saying my license is going to expire and I have to go through this background check and fingerprinting, and that I need to do this atleast 1 month before my license expires because the background check can take that long. I got this letter on the 26th, it was mailed out the 22nd. Since it is now less then a month before my license expires, I wonder why the hell they sent it out at all? Then I look at the letter itself, and it was typed up on the 2nd. The stupid letter sat there for 3 week before they mailed it.

In the end I am ok I think. I just called the Texas DPS and they say the background check/fingerprinting in fact does not start until May 31st. So thankfully I can go next week or later instead of today. Didn't want to test today being sick and having to watch my kid while testing (if they would let me do that).
