I just picked this up this morning after reading the reviews and I just have to say. . . WOW.
What a great game. The camera takes a little bit of getting used to, but aside from that small detail, this is an incredible freakin game.
I wouldn't say this is the best console game I've ever played, but I'd rank it in my top five of all time thus far. I was debating between band of brothers and this and was swayed by the reviews to go for this one.
I will pick up BOB at some point, but this game is really, really, really special.
Anyone else played it?

I didn't play it, but did watch a friend go through it for a while, he seems to think it's awesome as well.
Extremely cool looking moves and combos is what jumped out at me.
Not my kinda game, but have heard nothing but praise on it.

This usually isn't my kind of game either. GTA is about the only third person action game I own. My love of Greek mythology so I figured I'd give this a shot. Very, very glad I did.
The combos are amazing, not only in how they look but how easy and fluid they are to pull off. The story is simply incredible. And the graphics are the best I've ever seen on a PS2 title.
The more I play it, the better I like it. For those who haven't seen it, even if it isn't your kind of game I'd strongly reccomend a rental just to see how awesome the game plays and looks. Anyone, regardless of their preferences will be able to appreciate that.

Would this be an appropriate time to sing some Def Leppard?

Is there an inappropiate time?
I think not.

Well since you put it that way...
Feelin' like it's all over, feelin' like there's no love
Feelin' like it's not easy, breathin' life in the dust
On a countdown to zero take a ride on the nightmare machine
There ain't gonna be heroes
There ain't gonna be anything
Oh!
Here it comes, here comes the night
Here it comes, hell in the night
Here it comes, here comes the night
When we all fall down
When we walk into silence
When we shadow the sun
When we surrender to violence
Oh!
Then the damage is done
Put away that gun!
I don't wanna be there
I don't wanna be anywhere
Oh!
That's right!
We're fightin' for the gods of war but what the hell we fightin' for?
We're fightin' with the gods of war but I'm a rebel
And I ain't gonna fight no more
No way!
On a countdown to zero
Take a ride on the nightmare machine
There ain't gonna be heroes
(Whoa)
There ain't gonna be anything
No!
Don't ya know that's right
(Stop)
Stop fightin' for the gods of war
(Stop fightin' for the gods of war)
Yeah what the hell we fightin' for?
(What in the hell we fightin' for?)
We're fightin' with the gods of war
Heavy!

Good song. :)
That reminds me though. . . when you purchase the game you get to go to a website and download the soundtrack of the game for free. If you are ever in the mood for some really good, but really dark symphony music, you can't go wrong with this stuff.
I need to zip off to the website and grab me that soundtrack.
As for the game itself, I can now throw lightning bolts (thanks Zeus), turn people to stone with a gorgon's gaze, and have a really bad ass sword for close fighting.
Still, I prefer the blades you start out with.
Got this from gamefly and have made it to the "Path of Hades". I think I'm getting near the end game. The game is fun, but I'm glad I rented it instead of bought it. I can't imagine going through the game more than once and it appears to be relatively short. Very fun though.

Rented the game Monday, beat it today. Clocked in just short of 9 hours, still I think it is a great game. Much more FUN than MGS, and maybe even GTA: San Andreas. Anyone with a PS2 needs to rent it and check it out. Don't want to spoil it for anyone, but the 9 hour play time could be expanded, as you unlock "god" mode after you beat the game.
If you beat the game in "god" mode you unlock more back story on the main character, a side character's fate, and get a couple of "secret messages." Whatever the hell that means. Still my only real complaint is I wish the damn thing was atleast twice as long as it is.
