I just wanted to tell you guys about my little online cd release. 13 originals and 1 cover. Its all acoustic and some people say a little depressing although there are a few songs that are a little more positive. I dont really know how to classify it other than "soft rock" or something. Understand that this has not been professionally recorded, but nevertheless itd be cool if some of you guys would give it a listen. Thanks,
http://www.pardonthat.com/my%20music.htm
btw, try closer to you if you want more positive
try, in my dreams if you dont mind either way.

I'll check it out tonight. Thanks for sharing.
There's an old thread where everyone posts links to their own music, btw.

Hey Cody, what did you record this with? The guitar sounds great, but the vocal track sounds a little distant to me. Id love to hear about your recording setup.

LOL. you wouldnt believe what I recorded this with. Its a 10 dollar mic that I bought from Staples 3 years ago. Since then the base broke off and so I've just layed it on my desk in front of me as I sing and play. I'd like to get something better but I really just dont have the money right now.
:) I found a pic of my "recording studio" LOL

You should call it Suppository Studios. ;)
If you ever want stuff mixed or mastered...feel free to send it my way. I can do that stuff at my house.

Do you think you could put something together with random armpit farts of mine?

For the right price, I can 'polish any turd'. Besides, I have Auto Tune, so any pitch issues you might have with the farts can be corrected. ;)

Thats awesome man. I may do that.

No actually the guitar sound is picked up by the same mic. For a labtec piece of crap it has adequate sound. :)

Cool,
If you want something mixed, send .wav files, without any FX (reverb, chorus..etc.) on the files.
If you want something mastered, send whatever you have mixed already, song order and so forth.
PM me if interested.

In My Dreams is really good. I like all of them, and they sound really good notwithstanding your recording setup. Very nice!

I was let down that In My Dreams wasn't the Dokken cover I was expecting.

just kidding, i didn't hear the songs, i just felt like giving your ego a nice kick in the balls. keep it up, i like hearing about people recording at home. i'm still trying to figure out how to do it via PC.

When I saw you had posted in this thread, I knew this was coming. I didn't expect the let-up in the next post, though. You're slipping, old man.

i'm a musician too (albeit one who has long given up "the dream"), so i encourage anyone who puts down a video game controller and picks up an instrument and does something creative/constructive with their time.
i'm sure it sucks though, fwiw, but i'm too lazy to click on the link and listen. :)

It's guys like HA who make me realize that I should have picked another career. I make wads of cash from under-achieving musicians who aren't good. The ones that realize it, make me have to work harder to find the next gig.

i gave up the dream when i met my wife in sophomore year of college (i'm 27 now). after that playing in a band with my best friend was more of a hobby thing for me than working towards a dream (it took him up until this year to realize it wasn't gonna happen, he was/is extremely under-achieving and guitar-wise he's good but singing-wise...well, he's better than William Hung  ), quickly thereafter i just stopped playing in a band setting altogether. i'm actually going back to a rehearsal studio to rock out with my cock out, but it's more for nostalgia sake and party because we agreed to play with an older friend of ours who's having a mid-life crisis and wants to pretend it's the 80's again.
fwiw i'm in the music industry now, so in a way i *am* living my dream, just not in the capacity i've always thought.

Good work Cody. Congrads on getting the recording done.
I have always wanted to record at home. Maybe one day. I still enjoy the studio environment.
Cody, FYI...I have a new one (#17!) coming out by the end of this month or May at the latest (so our company tells us). We recorded this one in Atlanta and Seattle.
Keep an eye out for samples...I am sure they will post some when they update our site for the new CD...

I had a listen to your last cd on your site. I liked it a lot. You guys sound great. Reminds me somewhat of REO Speedwagon.

sounds pretty damn good to me
reminds me a bit of a guy named Mark Lind who plays in punk band called the Ducky Boys up here in the Boston area. He does a bunch of solo/acoustic stuff and it sounds a little like the stuff you do. Your voice on The River especially. That's a good thing by the way. Mark Lind is great
anyway, you and SkyDog should set up the "All Acoustic FOFC Tour"

Nice job Code-man.
Wait, I take back the Code Man ref.
You wouldn't want to be known as Sasha Mitchell from Step by Step
