Yep I just noticed this. Strange things is, they don't have my street in the maps view. But if I click on the satellite, I can see my house :)

I am the house in middle, if you zoom in all the way

At least your home can be seen. I still have the low res version of my part of minneapolis. The downtown isnt even hi res yet.

I just read on CNN where there are people protesting the satellite images as an invasion of privacy. Jeebus, it's not like there is a live satellite feed of your house! The images are at the newest several months old. The one of my place is from over a year ago, as there are several more houses built that aren't in the image.

The entire 20-building apartment complex I'm currently in is missing. Google Maps doesn't even recognize the street address.

Another oddity is that it knows where my house that I'm moving into this month is, and it maps out directions from that location even though it's pictured as in the middle of a bunch of pine trees.

The sat. image of Lincoln Financial Field in Philly is from when they were constructing it. And if you go north a little, you see the hole left in the ground from Veteran's Stadium.

EDIT: I notice that my car is not in front of my house in the sat picture. I'm gonna try and find it. :D

Second Edit: Found my work and forogt it's basically under tree cover. No seeing it there. Oh well. :D

I live here.

I bet the guys who are pissed about this are the ones who have bomb shelters and are in the process of constructing thermonuclear missle silos in their yard.

The best part is that I still haven't been able to type in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and I can't get a good image of Disneyworld. However, I can get a great image of Disneyland in California.

I wouldn't be worrying about privacy. I'd be worrying about terrorism.

The year-and-a-half to two year old Walmart across from my apartment complex isn't even under construction in my pic. These pics must be pretty dang old...

The entire new housing development I'm moving into once my house is done (July) is just a bunch of mud, and they started building back in 2002 (maybe early 2003), I believe. So yeah, the images are a little old.

The site still rocks, though.

Do you guys live in mansions? My apartment building looks really small? Or is there some way to zoom in even further?

Some parts of the country don't have the highest level of zoom yet. My house is decent sized (~3000 sq. ft.), but it looks small compared to some of these behemoths my neighbors have built.

double dola...

I did notice that when I looked for Great America, it didn't seem to zoom in that far. I compared it to the greatest zoom of milwaukee and indeed it was further away.

Really...interesting. I take it the big white thing is a space ship of some sort. Or a frozen over lake.

It's Groom Lake, the dry lake bed that most of the runway is on.

zoom in as much as you can, the blue thing sort of in the shape of a peanut, right smak in the middle, well this is our swimming pool, pretty cool, huh? :D

it's to the right of a house that looks like in the middle of a beach, since the picture dates of last Summer and that house's landscaping (our neighbour) wasn't done then... Very cool, showed it to my son, he was pretty impressed. The round thing you can see on the top left corner is the parking lot of his school :)

It actually is useful for my line of work. We often used the USGS site (which I think uses TerraServer) to scope out project areas. The ability to flip back and forth between a map (with a nice interface) and the aerial will make this a great tool.
