Alright guys, I'm going to try this, as I've gotten good responses from some of the people over at the TDCB. I'm taking the first 6 names I get for this first season, so if you don't get yours in on time, I'll just add you to year 2. I will take the names and edit them to the top rated recruit in that particular region, for that particular position, then follow the recruiting trail, all the way through college, and the NBA if anybody makes it. Here is the format to send me your high school players and info:
Player name
Height/Weight

Hope to get this going as soon as possible, so please guys, get me some players to work with.

Wow, thank you guys. I didn't really expect that much of a response. I believe I counted 14 players that were given to me on this message board, plus 1 from the FBCB message board so far. I added myself to season 1, so I'll have 8 recruits this season, and 8 next season. This means I'm not taking anymore recruits for 2 years, so please guys, refrain from giving me anymore names until I say it's time again. Thanks. I have errands to run today, and work tonight, so I probably won't be getting the initial report ready until later on tonight. Then I'll give where the first 8 recruits are as far as their rank nationally and regionally. Now, this is my first time trying a dynasty report like this, so bear with me, and be patient. It may not start off quite so good, but it'll get where I want it to be. Thanks again.

I used my own schoool.
GO Bears.
I dont think Roosevelt and C.C. ever competed agianst each other expect in wrestling, and that was at the bigger team invitationals.
At the time, we were quite good at wrestling, and they were some great battles.

Season Preview
Alright guys, I'm finally ready to begin this diary. After going through and editing the top ranked players in the region of the positions for the first 8 players, I came up with 2 5 star recruits, and 6 4 star recruits. I did have to go out of region for a couple players, otherwise we'd have ended up with a few 3 star recruits. So without further adeu, here is a look at the first elite eight recruiting class.
SF Jeff Nights (6'5", 245, Wyandotte Roosevelt HS, Wyandotte, MI) ranked #1 nationally
Top 5 Schools: UCLA, Florida, Duke, Cincinnati, Oklahoma
Scouting Report: Very balanced offensive game with good ratings inside and three point, also has good steal ratings on the defensive end. He's averaging 15.6 ppg and shooting 29.4% from three point land.
SG Kyle Kappe (6'4'', 200, Temple City HS, Temple City, CA) - #2
Top 5 Schools: California, Utah St., Oklahoma St., Syracuse, Fresno St.
Scouting Report: An absolutely lights out shooter, with a three point rating of 82, and a potential of A in that category! He's averaging 18.1 points a game, and shooting 34.6% from three point land.
SF Larry McGillicuddy (6'6", 235, Palm Bay HS, Melbourne, Fl) - #12
Top 5 Schools: UCLA, Miami, Virginia, Cincinnati, Indiana
Scouting Report: His stock is really dropping, as he is only averaging 9 points a game his senior year. He doesn't really have one particular category which he excels in. He could end up at a mid-major school before it's over with.
PG Travis Elkin (6'2", 220, Minneapolis Roosevelt HS, Minneapolis, MN) - #14
Top 5 Schools: Ohio St., Oklahoma, N.C. State, Stanford, Georgia
Scouting Report: Already handles and dishes the ball well, but expected to get even better before it's over with. He's about as quick as you can get, with solid hands on the defensive end. He's averaging 15.3 points and 4.2 assists per game.
SF Bryce Good (6'6", 231, Argos HS, Argos, IN) - #17
Good will enter the NBA draft
Scouting report: Bryce definitely has the stats to be playing in the NBA next year, as he is putting up 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists a game. I'm not sure he'll have a stellar NBA career though, as most of his potential ratings are C's and D's, with a couple B's, and even 1 F. A couple years of college would probably do him some good.
SG Brian Butts (6'2", 215, Oak Park HS, Kansas City, MO) - #18
Top 5 Schools: New Mexico, California, St. Johns, Oklahoma St., Iowa
Scouting Report: Another guy that seems to be just an average player, as his stats and ratings don't exactly excite anybody. He does slash to the basket nicely, with a nice inside game, but is definitely not a good passer. He's averaging 15.4 points a game.
SF Mike Schaplowsky (6'4", 210, Wichita West HS, Wichita, KS) - #26
Top 5 Schools: Iowa, New Mexico, Oklahoma St., St. Johns, Syracuse
Scouting Report: A pretty strong shooter, with good potential to get better in college. Din't let him pass the ball much though, his pass rating is only 8. And definitely, definitely keep him away from the boards. He averages 3 rebounds a game, and almost all of them are on the offensive end. He is the least likely of our elite 8 to succeed.
SG Sunny Verma (6'5", 223, Neuqua Valley High School, Naperville, IL) - #30
Top 5 Schools: Syracuse, Iowa, Tennessee, Illinois, Cincinnati
Scouting Report: As expected out of a SG, all his shot ratings are pretty high, with good potential at all of them. He is struggling with his long range shot this year however, making only about 1 of 4 attempts. He also isn't a very strong rebounder, and tends to make quite a few defensive mistakes.

Indiana Times
Good to declare for NBA draft
SF Bryce Good from Argos High School in Argos, Indiana has entered the NBA draft. Good is averaging 17 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists a game, and was being recruited by UCLA, California, UConn, Ohio St., and N.C. State before making his announcement. He was named Mr. Basketball in the state of Indiana last year, and is ranked 17th overall in the nation, and the 5th best SF in the nation. Early projections have him going anywhere from the middle of the first round to the early second round. Good luck to him.

As we get set to open up the season, we've had all but one of our recruits sign. Let's take a look at who is going where.
SF Jeff Nights(MI)
The #1 player in the nation signed a letter of intent with the Bruins of UCLA, surprising many people that thought he would stay close to home. "I just haven't been impressed enough to sign with Michigan, and Michigan St. doesn't offer the major I want. UCLA is an up and coming team, plus they have my major, so it was a pretty easy decision." Jeff was also getting looks from Florida, Oklahoma, Duke, and Maryland.
SF Larry McGillicuddy(FL)
It looked like UCLA might have a very solid recruiting class coming in, as Larry was very close to signing with the Bruins as well, but he decided he wanted to be a lot closer to home, so he signed with Miami. "I just decided that having my friends and family like 3,000 miles away from me just wasn't right for me. I know Miami may struggle a little bit in the ACC, but I feel confident I can help them out." Also in the running for Larry was Virginia, Cincinnati, and Indiana.
SG Kyle Kappe(CA)
Kyle will see a lot of another of our elite eight members, as he signed with California. He and Jeff Nights will see each other at least twice a year since Jeff signed with UCLA. Utah St. was the surprise school in the mix for Kyle, but he decided he would rather play for a more higher profile school. "Although Utah St. has been very impressive the last couple years, I felt that I was better suited to be at UCLA, where I'll have a much better chance at playing in the NCAA Tournament." Besides Utah St., Oklahoma St., Syracuse, and Oklahoma offered Kyle a scholarship.
SG Brian Butts(MO)
Brian may be the only elite 8 recruit this year that doesn't sign with a school in a power conference, as he decided to ink with New Mexico. "I've heard that the Lobos will really be looking for a SG next year, and they just had the right offer for me. The Mountain West Conference is always competitve anyways." Brian was also being hotly recruited by California, St. Johns, Iowa, and Oklahoma St.
SG Sunny Verma(IL)
Sunny will be calling the Big Apple home for at least the next year, as he signed with the Syracuse Orangemen today, ending all speculation that he may sign with his hometown Illini, who were in the mix for him. "How can you not want to sign with a team that just recently won the national championship, and is returning quite a few of those core guys. I'm hoping to come in and lead the Orange back to the title game next year." Aside from Illinois, Sunny also was contacted by Iowa, Tennesse, and Cincinnati.
PG Travis Elkin(MN)
Travis will be signing with a big 10 rival of his hometown Gophers, as he inked with Ohio St. earlier this month. "The Buckeyes are a tremendous fit, and are in much better shape to reach postseason player next year. Nothing against Minnesota, I loved the school, but I think I'll have a better shot here at OSU." The Gophers weren't even in Travis' top 5, instead he considered Oklahoma, N.C. State, Georgia, and Cincinnati.
This just leaves SF Mike Schaplowsky (me!)
SF Mike Schaplowsky
"Mike is having a tough time getting looked at, because he's only been playing basketball for 2 years" said his high school coach, Kevin Hartley. He has been contacted by the likes of Iowa, New Mexico, Syracuse, Oklahoma St., and St. Johns, but has not yet been offered any scholarships. One can only hope this young man ends up somewhere, even if it is a local school like Wichita St., or even UMKC or Kansas St.
collegesportsfanms
04-09-2005, 10:55 PM
As we enter December, we still have one recruit that has not yet signed.
SF Mike Schaplowsky
Mike is still working hard, but still has yet to be offered a scholarship. The only thing that has changed from last month is that Syracuse has lost interest, and Maryland has picked up interest. "The coach at Syracuse, what's his name? Boeheim or something? He's just mad because I made a joke that his guys got lucky against Kansas last year, and now they don't want to sign me. Oh well, their loss." Mike's #1 right now is Iowa, and rumor has it they are very close to offering him a scholarship
collegesportsfanms
04-09-2005, 11:17 PM
Finally!
We start off 2004 on a good note, as SF Mike Schaplowsky was finally offered a scholarship for the Oklahoma St. Cowboys, and he was quick to accept. "It could be fun playing against Kansas and Kansas St. I've been looking at the Cowboys for a while now, and when they offered me a scholarship, I had to accept. After all, you never know if I'd have been offered another one or not." Mike will have a lot of talent playing beside him next year, and there is already talk about him being redshirted. "If it happens, it happens. I can wait another year to play if need be, but as a redshirt I can still practice with the team, which would give me valuable experience for when I do finally play."
Also, we caught up with Jonathan Sanders, the young assistant coach at IPFW. IPFW is an independent team which is just 3-11 on the young season. Sanders has been widely credited in the signing of C Beau McGinley, a one star recruit who signed with IPFW. "Beau is a good pickup, he'll help us in the middle. We've got good solid wins against Austin Peay, Buffalo, and Liberty. I don't expect to be a division 1 coach anytime soon, but maybe after a couple years here, I can get on as an assistant with a team that actually plays in a conference." Good luck to him.

2003-2004 Season Wrap-Up
NBA Draft
Many people thought it was a huge mistake for Bryce Good to declare for the NBA draft his senior year of high school. The concensus was that he didn't have enough potential to be a quality player yet, let alone a star. It seems those predictions were right, as the NBA draft went by, and Good's name was not called. In fact, it took until the last day of the free agent period for Bryce to get on with an NBA team, as the Philadelphia 76ers finally signed him to a 1 year contract for $322,817. Looks like Bryce may have made a big mistake.
How elite 8 teams fared
It's actually the elite 7 this year, since Bryce made the mistake of going pro, but I thought it would be fitting to review how the 7 different teams that signed a member of our elite recruiting class ended their seasons.
UCLA (Jeff Nights)
The Bruins had a bit of a rough year, finishing 17-15 overall and 10-8 in the Pac Ten Conference. They got a bid to the NIT tournament, but lost in the first round.
Miami (Larry McGillicuddy)
The Hurricanes made a decision showing in their first year in the always tough ACC, finishing with a 16-16 record, 8-8 in the conference. That showing was good enough to get them into the NIT, but they also lost in the first round.
California (Kyle Kappe)
The Golden Bears had a tough season, finishing 15-16 overall and 8-10 in the Pac Ten Conference. They were not invited to postseason play.
New Mexico (Brian Butts)
New Mexico had a lot of success this year, finishing 23-10 with a 9-5 record in the Mountain West Conference. They also won the Mountain West tournament, earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. They made a good showing there, winning their first round game before bowing out in the second round.
Syracuse (Sunny Verma)
The Orange had an incredible season, finishing 31-6 overall, and going 15-1 in the Big East conference. They won the Top of the World Invitational, and also run through the Big East tournament, before finally losing in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Ohio St. (Travis Elkin)
Ohio St. also had a successful year, winning the Las Vegas Invitational and going 13-3 in the Big Ten conference which was enough to make them the Big Ten regular season champions. They lost in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament, but still received an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament where they lost in the Sweet Sixteen. The Buckeyes finished 27-8 overall.
Oklahoma St. (Mike Schaplowsky)
The Cowboys won the Great Alaska Shootout and went 11-5 in the Big Twelve conference. They were invited to the NCAA Tournament, but were upset in the first round. They finished with an overall record of 24-8
Jonathan Sanders: Assistant coach
Jonathan did some good things over at IPFW, as the team still finished a dismal 7-21, and had the 274th best recruiting class. It was good enough for him to get a call from Jerrod Goings at UTEP, who offered him a spot as the new scouting director. Jonathan quickly accepted. "I'm going to be scouting for a team that plays in Conference USA. That's almost better than being a head coach at a low prestige school. Notice I said almost."
Well folks, the first year of this interactive dynasty is in the books. I hope you all have enjoyd thus far. In this second year, not only will I be going through the recruiting results for the second elite eight class, but I will also being going through game by game for our 7 elite eight recruits from this year. I'll be telling how their team does and how the player does. It could be a lengthy process, so I'll probably only do a couple weeks at a time in a post. Any comments or suggestions guys, feel free. And you guys that have a recruit, or a college player now, or even Bryce Good, add your comments please. That's why I started this dynasty, to get people involved

2004 Elite Eight Recruiting Class
The Elite Eight for the 2003-04 season is in, and let's take a look at it.
PF Rick Jolley (6-9, 245, Roosevelt HS, Gary, IN) - ranked #2 in nation
Top 5 Schools: Florida, St. Johns, Arkansas, Utah, Texas
Scouting Report: Rick is quite a dominating force inside, with great rebounding and block potential. He has no kind of shot whatsoever, and his inside game continues to improve. He's averaging 9.6 points and 6.4 rebounds a game.
C Coy Childress (7-1, 285, Canton HS, Canton, GA) - #9
Top 5 Schools: Florida, Maryland, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio St.
Scouting Report: Coy is a force inside on the boards, pulling down almost 10 rebounds a game his senior year. He has great rebounding potential, but just average potential in pretty much everything else. He is also averaging 13.2 ppg.
SF Sean Treacy (6-7, 225, Harwich HS, Harwich, MA) - #11
Top 5 Schools: Arkansas, St. Johns, Michigan St., Notre Dame, Texas
Scouting Report: Sean is a great shooter, with unlimited potential to make shots. He's shooting 31% from three point land, and averaging 16.5 ppg. His main weakness right now is free throw shooting, where he only has a rating of 28.
PF JeeberD Mack (6-9, 250, Irvin HS, El Paso, TX) - #12
Top 5 Schools: Stanford, Texas, Georgia, Fresno St., Mississippi
Scouting Report: JeeberD isn't much of an offensive player, as he just doesn't have the ratings or the potential to be a major offensive threat. Defense is his main game, as he averages 2 steals and 3 blocks a game. You can probably expect 5-10 ppg from him, but not much more.
PF Deke Prosser (6-9, 274, Sidney Lanier HS, Montgomery, AL) - #14
Top 5 Schools: Kentucky, Utah, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma St.
Scouting Report: Deke has limited potential to be a college star, with D ratings in 6 of the 12 rating categories. He will give you a great effort on the boards though, as he pulls down 9.2 boards a game.
C Danny Wilson (6-10, 260, Detroit Catholic Central, Redford, MI) - #27
Top 5 Schools: Arizona, St. Johns, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Pepperdine
Scouting Report: Danny averages 14 points and 6 rebounds a game, and you will very rarely see him shoot a three pointer, as his rating is 0, with an F potential. Danny does have the potential to be a good passer for a C, and he has some great inside moves.
PG Dylan Airhart (5-9, 170, Litchfield HS, Litchfield, MN) - #29
Top 5 Schools: Syracuse, Missouri, Illinois, Miami, Memphis
Scouting Report: Dylan could very well be the freshman PG of the year next year, wherever he ends up. He has dynamic passing skills, and he gets his fair share of points as well. Right now he's averaging 14.8 points and 8.8 assists a game. Those are stellar numbers for a high school player.
PG Rob Nielsen (6-4, 210, Palm Springs HS, Palm Springs, CA) - #37
Top 5 Schools: Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan St., Oklahoma
Scouting Report: This guy doesn't impress me very much, he could be just a college backup. He averages right at 10 points a game, but his assist to turnover ratio is horrible. For every assist he makes, he also commits a turnover. That is not at all what you are looking for out of a PG.
So there you have it, the next group in the interactive dynasty. And guys, I've decided that I won't take anymore players for the next couple seasons. I really think that 16 players is enough to keep track of for a while, without adding 8 new recruits every year. I think that when this first class becomes seniors, I'll add another recruiting class. Hope that is acceptable with everybody. Thanks
collegesportsfanms
04-10-2005, 08:27 PM
As we enter November, 6 of our 8 recruits have signed with colleges, 2 at the same college. And I will say this, the SEC will be loaded with freshman talent next year, as 4 of the 6 recruits so far have signed with SEC schools. Let's take a look at who is going where.
C Coy Childress(GA)
Coy passed on Georgia's offer, and instead signed with their football rival, the Florida Gators. "Florida is a damn good team, and they could use a good C like me. I'll do great things for this program.
PF Rick Jolley(IN)
The Gators of Florida will have one heck of a freshman frontcourt next year, as Rick also signed with Florida. "With both me and Coy joining the Gators, the rest of the SEC better look out. It could be a fabulous year.
PF JeeberD Mack(TX)
Jeeber's big focus is on getting a good education, which is why he has decided to go to Stanford University. "I don't expect to have an NBA career, so I want to get a good college education while I'm playing college basketball, and the best place I found to do that was Stanford.
PF Deke Prosser(AL)
Alabama was in the running for Deke until the very end, but the Kentucky Wildcats ended up winning over Prosser at the end. "Kentucky has been more successful over the past few years, and I wanted to go to a more traditional winning basketball program.
SF Sean Treacy(MA)
Sean will be joining Coy, Rick, and Deke in the SEC, as he will be heading to Arkansas to give the Razorbacks a shooter. "Arkansas has really struggled to find good, consistent shooters over the past couple years, and I hope to fill the void they've been missing.
PG Dylan Airhart(MN)
Dylan will be following in the footsteps of some solid PG's, as he will take his act to UConn. "The Huskies already have some solid guards, so I may not play as much this year as I would like to, but I plan on developing into a solid college PG.
And lets take a look at our other 2 recruits that have yet to sign.
C Danny Wilson(MI)
Danny is looking at St. Johns, Arizona, Maryland, Arkansas, and Notre Dame, but St. Johns appears to be the logical choice right now, as they are the only school to offer him a scholarship.
PG Rob Nielsen(CA)
Apparently Rob's turnover problems are scaring teams away, as he has yet to have a scholarship offer sent his way. He wants to go to Arizona, but the Wildcats won't accept his sporadic play, especially considering the top notch PG's they've had in the past. It's anybodys game for Rob right now.

Nov. 2004: Episode 1
Coaches Invitational
Nov. 8
#11 Syracuse- 97, Texas A&M- 61 -- The Orange led 51-28 at halftime, and absolutely destroyed Texas A&M to advance to the quarterfinals against George Washington. Sunny Verma played only 4 minutes, but hit his first three pointer as a college player.
UCLA- 89, Siena- 51 -- UCLA cruised to an easy victory tonight, 47.8% from the field. Jeff Nights played 9 minutes and scored 3 points, all from the free throw line. He also had 2 rebounds.
Nov. 10
#11 Syracuse- 89, George Washington- 69 -- Syracuse came back from a 47-44 halftime deficit and shot 58% from the field, but looked sluggish on the defensive end as GW shot 47% from the field. Verma again saw only 4 minutes of action, and didn't score at all, but did have an assist.
Notre Dame- 76, UCLA- 71-- The Bruins fell short against a tough Notre Dame team in a game that could have went either way. Nights did not score, and only played 4 minutes.
Nov. 12
#11 Syracuse- 65, #4 UConn- 46 -- The Orange really locked down defensively as they forced 23 UConn turnovers. Verma scored 4 points late, and saw 5 minutes of action.
Nov. 14
#2 Arizona- 93, #11 Syracuse- 83 -- The Orange suffered their first loss of the season in the championship game of the coaches classic. After a shootout of a first half, which saw Arizona take a 64-51 lead at halftime, the second half was much, much slower. Verma got his first real action of his young career, getting in 13 minutes thanks to some major foul trouble. 5 players had 4 fouls for the Cuse. Verma had 2 fouls himself, but did score 5 points, all from the line. He also had 2 rebounds an and assist.
Syracuse drops to 13th in the polls, and UCLA lost their votes, but California picked up 5 votes.

November 2004: Episode 2
Nov. 15:
Ohio St.- 82, East Tennessee State- 58 -- An easy game for the Buckeyes, as they led by 15 at halftime and never looked back. A solid college debut for Travis Elkin who had 9 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds.
Miami- 100, Air Force- 69 -- The Hurricanes showed that they have the ability to put up some points, as they scored 52 in the first half, shooting 52.9% from the field. Larry McGillicuddy had his good and bad points, as he scored 11 points on 3-9 shooting, and pulled down 8 rebounds. Unfortunately his ballhandling wasn't sharp as he committed 5 turnovers.
Nov. 17:
Oklahoma St.- 102, Texas-San Antonio- 66 -- The Cowboys rolled to an easy victory, forcing 22 turnovers and committing just 9. Mike Schaplowsky scored 12 points, shooting 3-6 from the field and 6-7 from the line in his debut.
Marquette- 80, New Mexico- 74 -- The Lobos had no answer for Steve Novak, who put up 31 points on 11-17 shooting. Brian Butts scored 13 points on 6-14 shooting in his debut.
Ohio St.- 85, Xavier- 81 -- The Buckeyes struggled a little bit against Xavier, and absolutely could not stop Romain Sato who put in a career high 42. Elkin had another nice game, dishing out 7 assists in the losing effort.
Nov. 18:
2004 Top of the World Invitational
#24 Arkansas- 93, California- 75 -- The Golden Bears lost in the first round of the Top of the World Invitational, and drop to the losers bracket. California actually played the Razorbacks tough, but just ran out of gas against a much deeper bench. What a debut it was for Kyle Kappe, who scored 36 points on 14-19 shooting, including 6-10 from three point land. He's making himself known early.
Nov. 20:
California- 85, SMU- 78 -- The Golden Bears will play for 5th place in the Top of the World invitational after getting by the Mustangs. Kappe continues to impress, putting in 17 points tonight on 5-14 shooting. He looks to have quite the career ahead of him.
Nov. 21:
#14 Alabama- 78, California- 70 -- The Golden Bears will have to settle for 6th place in the Top of the World Invitational after a tough loss to the Crimson Tide. It's an even more disappointing loss considering they were up by 10 at halftime. It has been rumored that Kappe will be checked for steroid usage soon after putting up 19 points tonight, giving him a total of 72 for the tournament.
Syracuse stays 13th in the polls, while Miami receives 18 votes.

And guys, I've decided that I won't take anymore players for the next couple seasons. I really think that 16 players is enough to keep track of for a while, without adding 8 new recruits every year. I think that when this first class becomes seniors, I'll add another recruiting class. Hope that is acceptable with everybody. Thanks
Tough luck, Blade... :p ;)

Blade, I'll keep your guy on record for future reference. I plan to go through this think pretty quick if I can, maybe doing 2 or 3 weeks a day, if not more. So it shouldn't be but a couple months before I'm ready for another elite eight class. :) And JeeberD, what's wrong with Stanford?

Well, Texas was your #2, right behind Stanford, if that's any consolation. By the way, what do you think of the way things are running so far? Should I do something different? Add something? Take something away? Let me know, I'm always looking for ways to make this better.

I like the summaries...personally im more partial to month by month updates rather than game by game but it isnt running too bad just my preference.

I don't mind doing a game by game recap, it gives a better feel for each player and how they perform every game. I'm actually taking things right of the thread at 400softwarestudios, and doing it just like they are doing it. I can't remember what it's called, but you guys should go check it out too.

Nov. 2004: Volume 3
Nov. 22:
2004 Maui Invitational
Oklahoma St.- 92, Auburn- 55 -- The Cowboys rolled in the first round of the Maui Invitational as they shot 47.9% and forced 18 turnovers. Schaplowsky didn't play much, only logging 5 minutes, but scored 10 points.
Miami- 100, Miami-OH- 72 -- A nice win for the Hurricanes, as they took much better care of the ball. McGilllicuddy did a better job too, with only 1 turnover and 15 points in 27 minutes.
Nov. 23:
#13 Syracuse- 101, Ball St.- 77 -- Syracuse shot the ball 75 times tonight, and shot 52%. Verma was the last Syracuse player to score, as he finished with 2 points in 11 minutes.
UCLA- 76, GW- 54 -- The Bruins held GW to just 35% shooting in a pretty easy win. Nights had a bad shooting night, as he went just 1 for 7, but had 7 assists.
2004 Maui Invitational
#22 Kentucky- 86, Oklahoma St.- 57 -- The Cowboys will have to settle for the third place game, as they forgot to show up tonight. They committed 21 turnovers in the loss. Schaplowsky scored 4 points in 11 minutes.
Nov. 24:
2004 Maui Invitational
Oklahoma St.- 75, #5 Missouri- 70 -- The Cowboys shocked their 5th ranked conference foes, outrebounding the Tigers 42-25 to claim 3rd place in the Maui Invitational. Schaplowsky saw only 8 minutes of action tonight, and scored 2 points.
2004 Great Alaska Shooutout
Ohio St.- 77, New Mexico- 53 -- The Buckeyes proved to be a much stronger team, as they pounded the Lobos in pretty convincing fashion, holding them to just 30.8% shooting. Butts was 3-6 from three point land in the loss, scoring 12 points overall. Elkin had a very balanced game, scoring 10 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists.
Nov. 25:
UCLA- 90, Duquesne- 83 -- The Bruins struggled tonight, but picked up the hard fought win. Nights was pretty much a non-factor, scoring 2 points in 5 minutes.
Nov. 26:
#1 Illinois- 89, #13 Syracuse- 60 -- Illinois showed why they are the #1 team in the nation, hammering the Cuse. Verma played 3 minutes of mop-up duty in the end, and didn't score.
2004 Great Alaska Shootout
Ohio St.- 90, #7 Michigan St.- 70 -- A great win for the Buckeyes as they advance to the championship game. Elkin is starting to become more of a scorer, as he had 13 points and only 3 assists.
Dayton- 71, New Mexico- 55 -- The Lobos could be in for a long season, as they dropped another one, and will play for 7th place tomorrow. Butts scored 14 points on 5-14 shooting.
Nov. 27:
UCLA- 88 UTSA- 59 -- The Bruins had no trouble tonight, dispatching of a very weak Southland Conference team. You would have thought that in a blowout like this, Nights would have played more, but he only logged 4 minutes. He did score 5 points though.
2004 Great Alaska Shootout
#10 Kansas- 78, Ohio St.- 76 -- The Buckeyes fell short tonight, taking second place in the Shootout. Elkin had a bit of a rough game. While he did have 5 assists, he also had 7 turnovers.
New Mexico- 83, Mississippi- 71 -- The Lobos finally got a win, as they take 7th in the Great Alaska Shootout. Butts was the star of the game, scoring 29 points.
Syracuse is now ranked 17th, and UCLA received 51 votes. Miami did not receive any votes.

Nov.-Dec. 2004
Nov. 29:
#8 Kansas- 100, California- 54 -- This game was a blowout from the start, as KU led 50-28 at the half. The Jayhawks shot 57% from the field. Kappe had his lowest output of the season, but still scored 13 points.
Nov. 30:
#9 Georgia- 92, Oklahoma St.- 64 -- Georgia blew open a close game in the second half, turning a 4 point halftime lead into a 28 point win. Schaplowsky is starting to get more minutes, logging 17 tonight. He hit the boards hard, pulling down 6 to go with his 7 points.
Dec. 1:
#5 Wake Forest- 82, Ohio St.- 53 -- Justin Gray led Wake Forest in all the major statistical categories tonight, as they rolled to a surprisingly easy victory, and the Buckeyes have now lost 2 in a row. Elkin did a good job in the loss, scoring 9 points and dishing 5 assists.
Dec. 2:
Iowa- 68, Oklahoma St.- 59 -- The Hawkeyes just had a little bit more tonight, in what was a pretty good game. The Cowboys have now lost 2 in a row. Schaplowsky keeps giving a good effort in limited minutes, scoring 9 points in 14 minutes.
Tennessee- 61, California- 60 -- This was a defensive struggle all the way, but Tennessee hit a bucket with .5 seconds left to steal the victory. It looks like Kappe has come down to earth a little bit, although he still has not had a game in single figures, as he put up 16 tonight.
New Mexico- 84, Santa Clara- 66 -- The Lobos doubled up Santa Clara in the first half and coasted to a pretty easy victory. Once again, Butts was the star of the game as he put in 24 points on 10-18 shooting.
Dec. 3:
#17 Syracuse- 69, #21 Kentucky- 56 -- The Orangemen get revenge in a rematch of the national championship game from a few years ago, as they overcome a halftime deficit to take control in the second half. Verma played a whole 4 minutes tonight, and pulled down 1 board, but was held scoreless.
Dec. 5:
UCLA- 90, Long Beach St.- 57 -- UCLA used a much deeper bench to handle Long Beach St. Unfortunately, Nights is still struggling to get minutes, as he saw just 4 minutes of action tonight, but did score 5 points.
Notre Dame- 96, Ohio St.- 57 -- Another dismal effort for the Buckeyes after a second place finish in their tournament last week. Elkin was the second leading scorer for Ohio St. tonight, putting in 14, and dishing out 3 assists.
#17 Syracuse- 97, Army- 50 -- Another cakewalk for Syracuse, who held Army to just 13 first half points. With a blowout like this, Verma still only managed to log 5 minutes. He hit both his shots though, to score 4 points.
Miami- 95, Florida International- 64 -- The Hurricanes stay undefeated, although they have yet to play any real tough competition yet. McGillicuddy scored 10 points on 5-10 shooting, and also pulled down 5 rebounds.
Syracuse and UCLA are now both in the polls, with Syracuse #12 and UCLA #19. Miami picked up 40 votes this week.
NBA News
Everybody knew that Bryce Good made a huge mistake by jumping to the NBA. Everybody except for him that is. He is now finding out the hard way, as the 76ers cut him before he even put on a uniform. Now he is a free agent, and hoping to get picked up by somebody. Good luck Bryce, you should have went to college like everybody said.

As we end November and move into December, let's take a look at how are other 2 unsigned recruits are doing.
C Danny Wilson(MI)
It looked as if St. Johns had Wilson locked up, but then Maryland came in the picture. "I've always wanted to play at Maryland, and they finally decided to give me a chance." Yep folks, that's right, Danny Wilson will be a Maryland Terrapin next year.
PG Rob Nielsen(CA)
The door is still open for Rob, who still lists Arizona as his #1. "I really want to go to Arizona, but I haven't heard from them at all." It seems as if Rob needs to forget about his Arizona dream, and give Oregon and North Carolina more of a look. Those are the only 2 schools that have offered him a scholarship. I expect Rob to have signed with Oregon by the time 2005 hits.

Let's take a look at where our recruits stand in the statistical leaders.
Points:
1. Kyle Kappe (20.2)
2. Brian Butts (18.4)
3. Larry McGillicuddy (12.0)
4. Travis Elkin (8.4)
5. Mike Schaplowsky (7.3)
6. Jeff Nights (2.8)
7. Sunny Verma (2.3)
Rebounds:
1. Larry McGillicuddy (6.7)
2. Kyle Kappe (4.8)
3. Brian Butts (3.6)
4. Travis Elkin (2.7)
5. Mike Schaplowsky (1.8)
6. Jeff Nights (0.7)
7. Sunny Verma (0.6)
Assists:
1. Travis Elkin (4.7)
2. Brian Butts (3.6)
3. Larry McGillicuddy (2.7)
4. Kyle Kappe (1.6)
5. Jeff Nights (1.2)
6. Mike Schaplowsky (0.7)
7. Sunny Verma (0.4)
Overall:
1. Brian Butts
2. Kyle Kappe
3. Larry McGillicuddy
4. Travis Elkin
5. Mike Schaplowsky
6. Jeff Nights
7. Sunny Verma
Analysis:
Brian Butts, Kyle Kappe, and Larry McGillicuddy are all starters that give their teams great minutes. Butts is #1 overall because he seems to be the most balanced player. Travis Elkin is right behind, starting and doing a good job running the point for the Bruins, but he needs to look to score more. Mike Schaplowsky will be a star at Oklahoma St., but right now he's playing behind Tony Allen. That's a tough situation for anybody. Jeff Nights and Sunny Verma could turn into solid starters, but they may not even get to start until their junior years.
Jonathan Sanders: Assistant Coach
Mr. Sanders is the current scouting director at UTEP, and they are 2-3 right now. Jonathan gets the credit for going to Germany and watching 3 star recruit Edmund Mader play. Mader eventually signed with UTEP. I think it's going to be a long season for UTEP, who plays in a very tough Conference USA.

Neuqua- You're welcome. Anybody else have any comments or questions they'd like to throw out? I'm enjoying doing this dynasty, and I'd hate to have to stop it because of lack of feedback. Although right now I'm getting enough replies to keep it interesting, but more would always be appreciated. :)
Dec. 2004- Volume 1
Dec. 7:
#7 Illinois- 94, California- 63 -- The Illini were clearly the better team tonight, routing the Golden Bears. 21 Cal turnovers didn't help the cause. It was by far the worst game of the season for Kappe, who only managed 9 points on 3-14 shooting, and committed 8 turnovers.
Ohio St.- 94, Oklahoma St.- 83 -- This was really a close game throughout, but the Buckeyes were lights out shooting from the field, making 32-52 shots, good for 61.5%. Wow! Elkin was the leading assist man in tonights game, dishing out 8, while Schaplowsky struggled to get on track, shooting just 2-8, and only scoring 8 points.
Kentucky- 70, New Mexico- 43 -- The Lobos just don't have the fire power to compete with teams like Kentucky, and it showed tonight. The Wildcats did a great job taking Butts out of the game, as he only scored 9 points while committing 5 turnovers.
#12 Syracuse- 83, Texas Pan American- 50 -- The Orangemen keep rolling, but against very weak opponents. Verma was completely shut out tonight, missing his only shot attempt in 4 minutes of action.
Dec. 8:
Miami- 92, Fresno St.- 60 -- The Hurricanes finally played a fairly known opponent, but took them down like all the others this season. McGillicuddy had an awful shooting game, going 1-10 from the field, and scoring only 4 points. He did pull down 7 boards however.
Dec. 9:
#19 UCLA- 83, Cal St. Northridge- 48 -- The Bruins stayed close to home to beat up on a local opponent tonight. They forced 25 turnovers in the blowout. Nights appears to be in the doghouse with his coach, as he came off the bench to play only the last 2 minutes of mop-up action.
Dec. 10:
Pacific- 73, California- 63 -- The Golden Bears continue to struggle, as they were beaten by a prestige 2 team tonight. Kappe is still trying to break out of his shooting slump, as he shot 3-11 tonight, and scored 10 points.
Dec. 11:
Utah- 88, #19 UCLA- 70 -- The Utes pulled the minor upset tonight, beating up on the Bruins. Rumors are starting to fly that Nights may not be a Bruin for much longer, as the #1 ranked recruit from last year didn't even suit up for this game. The UCLA fans are becoming restless.
Oklahoma St.- 90, Houston- 58 -- The Cowboys break even at .500 on the young season, as they beat up on a Houston team that committed 25 turnovers. Schaplowsky was really a non-factor tonight, as he only scored 2 points in 14 minutes, while picking up 3 fouls.
Dec. 12:
California- 52, Oklahoma- 50 -- The Golden Bears broke a 5 game losing streak tonight, holding off a late Oklahoma charge to hang on for the victory. Kappe scored 14 points and pulled down 5 boards, as he was a big part of the victory tonight.
Syracuse is ranked 10th this week, while Miami breaks into the top 25 at #20. UCLA didn't even receive any votes after their tough loss to Utah.

Dec. 2004: Volume 2
Dec. 13:
Oklahoma St.- 67, Tulsa- 41 -- The Cowboys are now over .500 after beating up on a Tulsa team that was in the Sweet Sixteen just a couple years ago. Schaplowsky scored just 5 points in only 10 minutes of action.
St. Johns- 76, #20 Miami- 67 -- The Hurricanes faced their toughest opponent in their first 5 games, and the results were as expected. Another very poor effort for McGillicuddy, who missed all of his shots from the field, but did go 5-6 from the free throw line for his only 5 points of the game.
Nebraska- 68, New Mexico- 58 -- The Lobos just couldn't get the breaks tonight, as they played with Nebraska the whole game but lost by 10. Butts scored 13 points and had 3 assists tonight in the losing effort.
Dec. 14:
#13 Duke- 98, UCLA- 70 -- The big surprise here isn't that UCLA got hammered, but that Nights was finally given the opportunity he deserves. He played a season high 14 minutes tonight, and shot 7-12 from the field, good for 17 points. Maybe this will be a stepping stone to get him in the starting lineup soon.
California- 103, San Francisco- 65 -- The Bears had no problem with San Francisco tonight, as they shot 62.5% from the field. Kappe got back on track with a 20 point effort.
Dec. 15:
Stanford- 94, #20 Miami- 87 -- Another tough loss for the Hurricanes, who will no doubt lose their ranking next week. McGillicuddy shot 5-8 from the field and scored 17 points. He also pulled down 5 boards.
Ohio St.- 90, Mississippi- 83 -- The Buckeyes pulled away late to win their 6th game of the season, but Elkin really struggled, committing 4 turnovers while only dishing out 3 assists.
Dec. 16:
#10 Syracuse- 63, Indiana- 39 -- Syracuse brought out some top-notch defense tonight, holding the Hoosiers to just 39 points, and just 26.5% shooting. Verma continues to see his minutes decline, as he only managed 3 tonight, and did not score.
Oklahoma St.- 101, McNeese St.- 64 -- The Cowboys have now won 3 straight after crushing McNeese St. Of course, outrebounding your opponents 49-22 usually helps. Schaplowsky was 3-6 from the floor, for 7 points, and he also had 3 rebounds.
Dec. 17:
#3 Florida- 102, California- 50 -- Cal's 2 game winning streak came to a defining halt tonight, as the Gators absolutely wiped the floor with the Golden Bears. The only bright spot for the Bears tonight was Kappe, who scored 19 points and had 3 assists.
UCLA- 83, Tennessee- 75 -- The Bruins did everything they could to let Tennessee come back from an 18 point halftime deficit, but they held on for the victory. The turnaround continues for Nights, who scored 8 points in 11 minutes of action. It looks like UCLA is finally realizing the talent of Nights.
Dec. 18:
New Mexico- 94, Wichita St.- 73 -- The Lobos handed WSU only their 3rd loss in 9 games, but did so convincingly. Butts had a horrible shooting night, making only 3-16 shots, but did go 4-6 from the free throw line to break into double digits, finishing with 11.
Syracuse is the only team of note to even receive votes this week, but they dropped 2 spots, back down to 12th.

Same with Floridia and center position. That'd be great.

04-12-2005, 04:03 PM
Let's take a look at some of the colleges that are current group of recruits has signed to already. Starting with Maryland. The Terps are currently 5-3. With 3 C's on the roster, but 1 redshirting, and 1 graduating next year, the Terps should have 3 centers next year as well. The redshirt center this year is just not very good, so that should leave the starting spot for either Danny Wilson, or the current starter, freshman Hollis Porter.
The Florida Gators will have 2 recruits playing there next year: C Coy Childress and PF Rick Jolley. The Gators are currently ranked 6th in the nation. They will lose 1 center and 1 power forward from this years team, and will have 2 sophomores, along with Childress, in the middle next year. I would expect Childress to have a lack of playing time, as right now the 2 freshman centers are battling for the back-up C spot. The best that Jolley can look for next year is to be the backup behind David Lee, who will probably be an all-american this year. Lee will be a senior next year.
If any of the other recruits for next year want me to take a look at their colleges and positions, feel free to let me know. Otherwise, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Childress have a good idea what they can look forward to next year.

A correction from the last post, as David Lee will not be with the Gators next year, as he has declared for the NBA draft. This opens the door for Coy Childress to be the starting center next year.

Mr. JeeberD Mack has inquired as to his status with the Stanford Cardinal next season. Well Mr. Mack, Stanford currently has 4 power forwards, 2 of which will graduate this year. They will return a senior and a junior, along with yourself. The senior, Teyo Johnson, will probably be the weakest of the 3, as far as ratings go. Stanford could start Teyo simply because of the fact that he'll be a senior, but more than likely they'll go with Matt Haryasz, who will be a junior next year. JeeberD, I would expect you to be the main backup next year.

I have previewed 4 of the 7 incoming recruits and their possible status for next year, now let's look at the other 3. First, Dylan Airhart, a point guard, who will be headed to UConn. The Huskies are 7-2, and ranked 11th right now, and they are playing with one point guard this season, a freshman no less. Besides Dylan, the Huskies recruited another point guard, but he is rated lower than Dylan. The problem is, there has been talk that UConn's current PG, Daniel Brunson, has a chance to be on the freshman all-america team next year. So look for Mr. Airhart to just be a back-up next year, although he should get quite a few minutes per game.
Next, we'll travel to Kentucky, where the Wildcats signed PF Deke Prosser for next season. Right now the Wildcats are 8-2, and ranked 16th. Kentucky is playing with 4 PF's this year, and 2 are seniors. So that will leave 3 for next year, including Prosser. However, I fully expect Chuck Hayes to be the starting PF next year, as he will be the best rated player on the team. Deke, however, could very well see a lot of minutes as a center next year, as the Wildcats have NO true centers this year, and only signed one for next year. Deke has the height and the size to be a center, so it's possible that he could convert, and start at center.
And now we go to Arkansas, where the Razorbacks will welcome SF Sean Treacy next year. Sean is Arkansas's only recruit thus far. The Razorbacks are currently struggling a bit, as they are only 5-3 on the year. The SF spot is by far the weakest spot for Arkansas, as they only have 2 freshmen in that position, and one is redshirting. Sean seems to have quite higher numbers than both of them, so don't be surprised if he comes in and immediately makes an impact.

Travis- Thanks for the kind words, I'm having a lot of fun with this, and still looking for ways to improve this.
Neuqua- After doing some checking, I see absolutely no reason why you can't get more playing time next year. Neither of the other 2 shooting guards have any kind of three point rating, and your ratings seem to be progessing better than the other 2 guys. I'm not saying you will be starting next year, but you should get a good 15-20 minutes a game. At least.
P.S. I'm pretty sure this game doesn't have transfers, although that would be sweet if it did. lol.
collegesportsfanms
04-12-2005, 08:58 PM
rjolley- Actually, the spot would probably go to Jolley before Childress, since David Lee is the PF that is leaving, and Childress is a center. I guess I kinda messed that post up, again. lol. I wouldn't be surprised if both you and Childress started however.

Dec. 2004: Episode 3
Dec. 21:
Oklahoma- 75, Miami- 62 -- The Hurricanes lost their third straight as they had a 15 point halftime deficit and couldn't recover. It was a game to forget for McGillicuddy, who only attempted 3 shots and scored just 6 points.
New Mexico- 98, Long Island- 51 -- The Lobos kept Long Island winless with an easy victory tonight. The star of the game was Butts, who went 7-11 from the field and 10-12 at the free throw line, for 26 points. Another solid effort from him.
#15 Syracuse- 94, San Francisco- 55 -- The Orangemen grabbed 50 rebounds en route to an easy 94-55 win. Although Verma did see 8 minutes of action tonight, he was held scoreless as he didn't attempt a shot.
Dec. 23:
California- 86, #2 Arizona- 80 -- The Golden Bears started off Pac-10 play on a very high note, coming back from a 6 point halftime deficit to upset Arizona. Not a great game for Kappe, but solid anyways, as he scored 13 points.
UCLA- 84, Oregon St.- 56 -- UCLA ran through their first Pac-10 game in convincing fashion, holding the Beavers to just 24 first half points. The mystery season continues for Nights, as he only played 3 minutes tonight, but did hit both his free throw attempts for 2 points.
New Mexico- 109, Weber St.- 52 -- Weber St. was clearly overmatched tonight, as the Lobos held a 55-27 rebound edge. Butts had another solid game, with 16 points and 5 assists.
Oklahoma St. - 73, New Mexico St.- 59 -- Another solid effort for the Cowboys who got double digit scoring from 4 players. Schaplowsky wasn't one of those players however, as he was shutout in his 10 minutes of action, but did pull down 2 boards.
Miami- 89, Auburn- 77 -- The Hurricanes get back to their winning ways, jumping out to an 18 point halftime lead and hanging on for a 12 point victory. McGillicuddy led the way with 25 points and 7 rebounds.
Dec. 25:
California- 100, Arizona St.- 72 -- The Golden Bears stayed undefeated in conference play, rolling over the Sun Devils in convincing fashion. Kappe had a solid game before fouling out, scoring 20 points on 8-12 shooting, and hitting a couple three pointers.
Oregon- 87, UCLA- 76 -- UCLA gave up a 6 point halftime lead and fell short tonight against a tough Oregon team, committing 21 turnovers in the losing effort. Nights logged 6 minutes tonight, scoring 2 points and pulling down 2 rebounds.
#11 UConn- 79, Ohio St.- 42 -- The Buckeyes hung tough for the first few minutes, but UConn eventually turned on the pressure and forced 20 Ohio St. turnovers. Elkin scored 7 points and had 3 rebounds with 2 assists.
Gonzaga- 70, #12 Syracuse- 57 -- The Zags played their best game of the season in beating Syracuse, and it also put them into the rankings for next week. Verma played 7 minutes and scored 2 points.
Dec. 26:
#22 Alabama- 77, Oklahoma St.- 64 -- The Cowboys couldn't overcome the hot shooting of Alabama, who shot 51% in the 13 point victory. Schaplowsky played a good 13 minutes tonight, scoring 2 points and pulling down 3 boards.
Syracuse remains the only team that is ranked or receiving votes, but the loss to Gonzaga dropped them to 15th.

Dec. 2004: Epsiode 4
Dec. 27:
Ohio St.- 91, Detroit- 55 -- The Buckeyes used some hot shooting from the free throw line to get a 36 point victory. They went 25-29 from the free throw line. It was a night of firsts for Elkin as he recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 assists.
Marshall- 78, Miami- 72 -- In a game that Miami should have won, they lost by 6 to a pretty strong Marshall team. The Hurricanes outrebounded Marshall by 12, but only shot 31.6%. Also having a poor shooting night was McGillicuddy, who went 2-11 from the field and only scored 4 points.
Dec. 28:
Boston College- 64, UCLA- 58 -- The Bruins only shot 28.6% in a 6 point loss. Better shooting probably would have made the difference tonight as the Eagles only shot 34.8% themselves. Nights again only played 3 minutes, and only went 2-4 from the line for his 2 points.
Dec. 29:
Ohio St.- 77, Butler- 75 -- The Buckeyes held off a spirited Butler team as Butler missed a last second bucket that would have tied the game. It was not such a good game for Elkin, who only scored 3 points, and could only dish out 1 assist.
#10 Missouri- 76, Miami- 74 -- A nice effort from the Canes but they fell just short. McGillicuddy had another terrible shooting night, going 2-12 from the field for 7 points. He did have 6 rebounds and 4 assists though.
#15 Syracuse- 88, Alabama St.- 53 -- The Cuse get back on the winning track after an upset loss to Gonzaga. They held Alabama St. to just 29% shooting. Verma saw 9 minutes of action and scored 5 points.
Dec. 30:
California- 81, Oregon- 74 -- The Golden Bears keep impressing in the Pac-10 conference as they move to 3-0 with a 7 point victory. Kappe only shot 6 times and ended up with 10 points, but he did have 4 steals.
UCLA- 72, #11 USC- 65 -- The Bruins break a 2 game losing streak in a big way, upsetting the Trojans, who dropped out of the rankings. Things have turned from bad to worse for Nights who saw 1 lousy minute of action tonight. He hit 2 free throws for his only 2 points.
#22 Gonzaga- 84, New Mexico- 69 -- The Lobos played hard, but couldn't get past a Gonzaga team that is playing their best basketball right now. Butts scored 14 points, but also had 6 turnovers.
Dec. 31:
#10 Syracuse- 60, Dayton- 51 -- The Cuse didn't play their best game tonight, but still pulled out a 9 point victory thanks to a 14-5 turnover differential. Verma was held scoreless tonight in 4 minutes of action.
#8 Duke- 85, Ohio St.- 53 -- The Buckeyes couldn't overcome a very talented Blue Devil basketball team, as they were held to just 33.3% shooting. Elkin did a better job finding his teammates tonight, as he dished out 5 assists, but Duke forced him into 6 turnovers.
Jan. 1:
California- 83, Oregon St.- 63 -- The Golden Bears keep rolling along in conference play, as they improve to 4-0 after a 20 point win. Cal only committed 4 turnovers tonight, and got a strong performance from Kappe who scored 24 points.
Oklahoma St.- 82, Northern Arizona- 45 -- The Cowboys rolled over the Lumberjacks tonight, forcing 22 turnovers while committing just 5. Schaplowsky only played 6 minutes while scoring 2 points.
Syracuse regained their top 10 ranking, as they moved back to 10th. Despite the 32 point loss to Duke, the Buckeyes of Ohio St. have done well enough to receive 25 votes.
NBA News:
December was another lonely month for 18 year old Bryce Good, as he remained on the free agent market. Bryce may want to consider going overseas, as it's unlikely anybody in the NBA will pick him up this season.

Guys, I think I'm going to use a new format for this dynasty from now on. I'm still going to go week by week, but I won't be posting on every single game. I will pick key games and top performances, and highlight them, then at the end I'll give all the info on all the individual performances for each guy that week. To pick my key games, I will probably go with overtime games, and games involving any team that is receiving votes. So for instance, in the current week, Syracuse and Ohio St. would have all their games reviewed, and the other highlighted games would probably just be overtime games, or really strong performances from the individual recruit. I'll try it, and see what you guys think. I think it'll make for an easier read for you guys, and it'll let me be able to progess faster.

Recruiting and assistant coach report:
At last check, PG Rob Nielsen was still looking for a place to go and play his college ball, and it looks like he's found one. Let's see what he's found.
PG Rob Nielsen(CA)
Rob's first choice, Arizona, showed pretty much no interest, so Rob had to look elsewhere. The only schools offering him a scholarship were Oregon and North Carolina, and the Ducks of Oregon ended up getting Rob's services. "Oregon is a much better fit than North Carolina because it's much closer to home. I can still go down and see all my family and friends. Plus, Oregon seems to be a team that can consistently go to the NCAA Tournament. I think it's a good choice."
Assistant Coach: Jonathan Sanders
December was a rough month for the Miners of UTEP, as they started out the month losing 4 in a row before winning 2 of their last 3. The Miners have no new commitments since last month. Jonathan did have some success in scouting the Colorado teams, as the Miners beat Colorado St., and lost by only 5 to a Colorado team that is 8-2. I think with Jonathan doing the scouting, UTEP will pull off a few big wins in Conference USA this season.

There are now 3 of our player recruited teams receiving votes. Syracuse moves back up to 8th, their highest ranking this season. UCLA jumps into the top 25 at 23rd, and Oklahoma St. is 26th, receiving 79 votes, the highest for an honorable mention team this week.
Also guys, I'm changing what I consider key games. If 2 of our recruits teams play each other, or if 2 ranked teams(with at least one involving one of our recruits) play each other, then those will be key games. Also, overtime games involving one of our recruit's teams, and top performances will also be highlighted. And if one of recruits teams upsets a ranked team, or if a recruits ranked team gets upset, some of those will be key games as well. I'm not going to highlight a teams games just because they are receiving votes, because it makes for too many key games in a week. Like next week we would probably have at least 6 key games, because 3 of our recruits teams have votes. So I'll have those qualifications listed above for key games, but I will still feature what I feel to be top performances. If you guys disagree and think that I missed a top performance, let me know. Thanks.

Jan. 2005: Volume 3
Not very many key games or top performances this week, as our 7 recruits all seem to be slumping a little bit now.
Key Games and Performances
Jan. 17 -- Butts had a great shooting night, going 6-8 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line for 17 points, but New Mexico fell short in a Mountain West Conference game, as they lost to S.D. State 95-88.
Jan. 19 -- We had an important injury to note in this game as McGillicuddy was accidently poked in the eye early in the first half, and he is now suffering from blurred vision. He's about 90%, but has been taken out of the starting lineup for the moment. He ended up with only 4 points in 14 minutes, but Miami rolled to an 83-54 victory.
Jan. 22 -- This was a game that was controlled by Butts, as he was only 1 point off his career high, scoring 28 on 9-15 shooting and 7-8 from the free throw line. He and Javin Tindall combined for 52 points as New Mexico handled BYU 90-73.
Jan. 22- UCLA just didn't have their A game tonight, as they were not only knocked out of the rankings, but the coaches didn't seem compelled to give them any votes after their 99-59 loss to USC. Nights played 7 minutes and scored 2 points.
Individual Details
SG Mike Schaplowsky -- 9 points in 12 minutes vs. Kansas St.(W 70-49); shut out in 8 minutes @#20 Texas(L 81-65)
SG Kyle Kappe -- 9 points, 6 assists vs. Washington(W 86-78); 17 points on just 6-20 shooting vs. Fresno St.(L 74-63)
SF Larry McGillicuddy -- scored 4 points in 14 minutes before being injured vs. Virginia Tech(W 83-54); 3 points and 1 assist in 10 minutes @#2 Duke(L 92-73)
SG Brian Butts -- 17 points on 6-8 from the floor, 4-5 from the line vs. S.D. State(L 95-88); scored 28 points on 9-15 from the floor and 7-8 from the line vs. BYU(W 90-73)
PG Travis Elkin -- 6 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists vs. Bowling Green(W 103-80); 0-7 from the field with only 2 points @ Wisconsin(W 60-59)
SG Sunny Verma -- 2 points in 4 minutes vs. Pitt(W 88-56); 5 points in 8 minutes @ Seton Hall(W 77-59)
SF Jeff Nights -- played only 2 minutes and didn't score @ Arkansas(W 78-65); 2 points in 7 minutes vs. USC(L 99-59)
So UCLA and Oklahoma St. lose their votes after their losses this week, and Syracuse moves all the way up to 6th in the polls. Ohio St. reenters the polls at #23.

Jan. 2005- Volume 4
Only 4 key games this week, but they all happened to fall on the same day.
Key Games and Performances
Jan. 29 -- Oklahoma St. propelled themselves into the rankings with an 84-77 victory over #3 Kansas. Schaplowsky had his best performance of his career, scoring 14 points on 5-8 shooting, with 3-4 at the line, as he played a career high 22 minutes.
Jan. 29 -- It was a heck of a comeback effort tonight, but #23 Ohio St. held off Penn St. 86-77. They got this win in large part to the leadership of Elkin, who had 7 points and 9 assists.
Jan. 29 -- New Mexico broke open a 1 point halftime lead to beat UNLV 77-62. Butts had another strong scoring day, picking up 18 to lead all scorers on the day.
Jan. 29 -- The rematch for our 2 Pac-Ten recruits was no different than the first meeting, as UCLA beat California 93-82. Kappe had a solid all-around game, scoring 21 points, and adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The evening wasn't terrible for Nights either, who only played 4 minutes, but scored 4 points.
Individual Details
SG Mike Schaplowsky -- 6 points in 7 minutes vs. Baylor(W 77-51); 14 points on 5-8 shooting and 3-4 from the line vs. #3 Kansas(W 84-77)
SG Kyle Kappe -- 7 points and 4 rebounds, but only 2-9 shooting @ USC(L 85-58); 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists @ UCLA(L 93-82)
SF Larry McGillicuddy -- 11 points and 3 rebounds @ Georgia Tech(L 89-80); 8 points on 4-6 shooting, and 5 rebounds @ Florida St.(W 77-68); 9 points and 6 rebounds vs. #1 Duke(L 88-81)
SG Brian Butts -- 11 points vs. Air Force(W 88-41); 18 points @ UNLV(W 77-62)
PG Travis Elkin -- 8 points, 3 steals @ Michigan(W 83-56); 7 points, 9 assists @ Penn St.(W 86-77)
SG Sunny Verma -- made his only three point attempt for his only 3 points in 6 minutes vs. Seton Hall(W 88-35); played 5 minutes but did nothing @ Detroit(W 79-49)
SF Jeff Nights -- scored 3 points in 4 minutes vs. #21 Stanford(W 77-65); had a perfect shooting night: 1-1 from the field, 2-2 from the line in 4 minutes vs. Cal(W 93-82)
Our recruits teams are starting to make some noise, as 4 of the 7 teams are either in the top 25, or receiving votes. Syracuse is now 5th in the nation, Ohio St. continues to move up, now they are 18th, and Oklahoma St. cracks the top 25 at #24. UCLA received 28 votes.

A few more key games this week, as a lot of ranked teams squared off.
Key Games and Performances
Jan. 31 -- Butts came very close to a double-double, scoring 22 points and pulling down 9 boards to lead New Mexico to a surprising victory over Utah, 83-72.
Jan. 31 -- After moving into the rankings this week, #24 Oklahoma St. went out of the conference to take on #11 Wake Forest. The Cowboys hung tough the whole game, but eventually fell short, losing 77-69. Schaplowsky didn't make a shot, but did hit all 4 of his free throws for his only 4 points.
Feb. 2 -- Miami stayed in the hunt for a postseason berth, knocking off Boston College 89-67. Mcgillicuddy returned from his injury in a pretty big way, knocking down 7-13 shots and scoring 19 points.
Feb. 2 -- In a very important Big East conference game, #5 Syracuse woke up in the second half, knocking off #7 UConn pretty easily, 75-61. Verma missed his only shot attempt in 4 minutes of action.
Feb. 4 -- #18 Ohio St. took their ranking to #23 Virginia, but couldn't get it done as they lost 71-60. Elkin had another balanced game, scoring 12 points, grabbing 6 boards, and dishing out 3 assists.
Feb. 5 -- Kappe had an unbelievable shooting night, hitting 9-12 shots and scoring 19 points, as California kept their slim postseason hopes alive with a 91-66 victory over Oregon St.
Individual Details
SG Mike Schaplowsky -- 4 points on 4-4 shooting from the free throw line @ #11 Wake Forest(L 77-69); 9 points, but only 3-12 shooting @ Texas A&M(W 69-54)

SF Jeff Nights -- played only 2 minutes and didn't record any stats @ Fresno St.(W 92-78); hit a three pointer for his only 3 points in 3 minutes @ Washington(W 83-64)
Oklahoma St. and Ohio St. both lost their votes in the polls thanks to their non-conference losses. This leaves Syracuse, who jumped up to #4. UCLA moved into the rankings with 2 wins, as they jump in at #25.
NBA and Assistant Coach News
January proved to be another painful month for Bryce Good, as he continued to be without an NBA team. "I'm really starting to think I made the wrong decision by jumping to the NBA. I would have been happy even only playing 4 or 5 minutes in college, like Jeff Nights and Sunny Verma. I'm going to talk to some people about going overseas next year."
January also proved to be a solid month for Jonathan Sanders and UTEP. The Aggies won 6 of their 9 games in January, and are currently 6-2 in the American Division of Conference USA. Sanders has done a great job scouting the UTEP opponents as of late, as the Aggies have won 5 in row. UTEP's biggest win of the month was their conference opener against Tulsa. They beat the Golden Hurricanes 65-57. Tulsa is 16-7 on the season, so you can see just how big of a win that was. I think UTEP has a great shot at the postseason, even if it is only the NIT, and Mr. Sanders could be looking to move again next year.

As we enter the first full week of February, the action is getting hot and heavy as conference races tighten up, and teams move on and off the bubble watch. Let's take a look at our 7 recruits and see how they and their teams look thus far:
Oklahoma St.(Mike Schaplowsky) -- The Cowboys are currently 16-7 overall and 6-1 in the Big 12, holding a full game lead over #8 Kansas. The Cowboys are the only team to have beaten the Jayhawks this year. Schaplowsky is averaging 11.7 minutes and 5.7 points a game.
California(Kyle Kappe) -- The Golden Bears will have to have a great month of February to even be consider for a postseason berth, as they are currently 10-14 overall, and 7-7 in the Pac-10 Conference. This puts them in a respectable 6th place in conference, but a poor non-conference showing could keep them home during March Madness. Kappe is having a great freshman season, averaging 15.9 ppg, and shooting 36.9% from three point land.
Miami(Larry McGillicuddy) -- Miami started out 4-0 on the year, but is only 6-11 since. They are currently 10-11 overall, and 4-5 in a very tough ACC. They are in a 2 way tie for 7th in the conference, tied with N.C. State who they have yet to play. McGillicuddy is averaging 10.1 points and 4.1 rebounds his freshman season. Miami's schedule is not favorable at all, as they play 6 of their last 7 games against teams with 6 losses or less.
New Mexico(Brian Butts) -- The Lobos have had a respectable season, currently 12-10 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain West Conference. They currently stand in 4th place in the conference, but like the Hurricanes, they also have a very tough February. It may come down to a good showing in the Mountain West tournament if the Lobos are going to make the postseason. Butts, meanwhile, is making a strong case to be named to the national all-freshman team, as he leads the Lobos with 16.9 ppg. That is good for 4th in the nation among all freshmen.
Ohio St.(Travis Elkin) -- Barring a complete collapse, the Buckeyes should be a lock for the NIT at the very least, as they are currently 14-8 overall and 5-2 in the Big 10 conference, good for a tie for 4th with Minnesota. Ohio St. should end up with 18-19 wins at the end of the regular season and conference tournament, which should be more than enough to give them a postseason berth. Elkin is only averaging 8 points and 4.3 assists a game, but the number that is most dissapointing is his average of 5 turnovers a game. That number has to go down if he's going to have a chance to play in the NBA.
Syracuse(Sunny Verma) -- Syracuse is no doubt a lock for the NCAA Tournament, and if they keep winning, should be a lock for a #1 seed. They are currently 21-3 overall, and 9-0 in the Big East West, easily in first place. Their biggest test in February could be a non-conference game vs. Utah St. Verma hasn't really gotten a chance to play much this season, averaging only 5.5 minutes and 1.9 points a game.
UCLA(Jeff Nights) -- The Bruins should be another lock for the NCAA Tournament, currently 18-6 overall and 10-2 in the Pac-10. They currently lead the Pac-10 by one game over Arizona, USC, and Oregon. UCLA has a tough game against Arizona coming up, but the rest of their regular season schedule shouldn't be much of a problem. It's been an up and down season for Nights, who is logging 5.1 minutes and 3.2 points a game.

Feb. 2005: Volume 1
Key Games and Performances
Feb. 9 -- Kappe had a career night tonight, scoring 39 points on 12-20 from the field, 9-10 from the free throw line, and 6-10 from three point land. California rolled to an easy 103-47 victory over non-conference foe UC Riverside.
Feb. 12 -- It was a much need win for Miami, who won their only 2 games this week to improve to a winning record not only in the ACC, but overall. Tonight they knocked off #23 Virginia 93-92, as McGillicuddy scored 9 points.
Feb. 12 -- The game of the day was no doubt #9 Arizona @ #25 UCLA. This was a nip and tuck game all the way, but the Bruins pulled it off, stopping an Arizona attempt at the buzzer to win it 68-66. Nights hit a three pointer for his only points of the game.
Feb. 13 -- After a bad loss to Pepperdine, the Lobos of New Mexico salvaged their week with an 82-81 victory over #22 Utah St., handing them only their 4th loss of the season. Butts played a big part in that victory, scoring 24 points on 8-16 shooting, and adding 7 rebounds.
Individual Details
SG Mike Schaplowsky -- 2 points in 5 minutes @ #8 Kansas(L 92-71); no major stats in 5 minutes of action @ Iowa St.(W 71-70); 3 points and 2 rebounds vs. Colorado(W 70-67)
SG Kyle Kappe -- 7 points on 3-7 shooting in only 20 minutes vs. Nicholls St.(W 78-45); 39 points on 12-20 from the field, 9-10 from the line, and 6-10 from three point land, plus 6 rebounds vs. UC Riverside(W 103-47); 15 points and 4 assists vs. Stanford(L 103-91)
SF Larry McGillicuddy -- 13 points on 4-7 from the field and 5-6 from the line vs. Florida St.(W 99-53); 9 points and 3 rebounds vs. #23 Virginia(W 93-92)
SG Brian Butts -- A horrible 2-16 from the field and only 6 points @ Pepperdine(L 92-66); 24 points on 8-16 from the field and 5-6 from the line vs. #22 Utah St.(W 82-81)
PG Travis Elkin -- 6 points and 5 assists @ #11 Michigan St.(L 99-77); 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists vs. Michigan(W 86-39)
SG Sunny Verma -- 4 minutes of action and no stats @ Depaul(W 68-41); missed his only 2 shots in 4 minutes vs. Georgetown(W 69-51); 5 points but 4 fouls in 8 minutes vs. South Florida(W 68-52)
SF Jeff Nights -- a perfect shooting night: 2-2 from the field and 2-2 from the line for 6 points vs. Arizona St.(W 102-69); hit a three pointer in 4 minutes of action vs. #9 Arizona(W 68-66)
4 of the 7 teams for our recruits are receiving votes again this week. Obviously the class of these teams is Syracuse, who moved up another spot to 3rd. With a big week, UCLA jumps from 25th to 19th, and Oklahoma St. moves back into the rankings at 24th. Also receiving 25 votes is Ohio St.

Some bad news to report, as Larry McGillicuddy left early in the second half of the 93-92 win against Virginia. He only played 19 minutes before landing on somebodys foot while coming down from shooting a jumper. The result: A torn ACL which will sideline him for a year. Tough break for McGillicuddy, as he was making a case for the ACC All-Freshman team.

Feb. 2005- Volume 2
Key Games and Performances
Feb. 16 -- This was a battle of the top 2 teams in the Big East West, as #16 Notre Dame squared off against #3 Syracuse. The Orange didn't start out well at all, as they were down 48-37 at halftime, but poured it on in the second half. They forced 17 Irish turnovers to turn the 11 point halftime deficit into an 80-71 victory. Verma logged 9 minutes tonight, and made his only 2 shots, both free throw attempts.
Feb. 16 -- The Golden Bears of California took on an in-state opponent in Cal Poly, and wiped the floor with them, 104-72. Kappe played a huge role in the game, shooting 11-21 from the field for 28 points. He also had 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Feb. 19 -- It was a rarity for Schaplowsky tonight, as he was a double digit scorer with 10 points in only 9 minutes, hitting all 5 of his shot attempts. #24 Oklahoma St. pounded hapless Kansas St. 80-44.
Feb. 19 -- New Mexico moved just 1 game behind in the Mountain West Conference race, beating Air Force 82-67. Butts helped the cause with 26 points on 9-20 shooting and 4-5 from the line.

Feb. 2005- Volume 3
Key Games and Performances
Feb. 23 -- Nobody had handed #1 Illinois a conference loss to this point in the season, but #20 Ohio St. broke that streak with a 91-77 victory. The Buckeyes started strong and never looked back, holding a 13 point lead at halftime. Elkin had one of his strongest games of the season, scoring 20 points on only 7-8 shooting, including 6-7 from three point land. He also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Feb. 26 -- #20 Ohio St. followed the big win over the Illini with an easy 101-65 win over Northwestern, moving them up to 3rd place in the Big Ten Conference. Elkin continued to put on a strong display, going 4-6 from the field, and 4-4 from the line for 14 points, to go along with his 9 assists.
Feb. 26 -- #17 UCLA finished off the Pac Ten conference season with a 91-84 win over #19 Oregon, finishing first and earning the #1 seed in the Pac Ten Tournament. They did it in dramatic fashion too, coming back from a 9 point halftime deficit. Nights scored 2 points in 4 minutes of action.

SF Jeff Nights -- 5 points and 2 rebounds in 7 minutes @ Oregon St.(W 66-46); 2 points in 4 minutes @ #19 Oregon(W 91-84)
The same 4 teams remain ranked, as Syracuse was overlooked for #1, instead Duke is #1 and Syracuse remains #2. Also, UCLA moves up to #13, Ohio St. surprisingly only moves up to #18, and Oklahoma St. moves to #22.

Yes, I would fully expect Miami to redshirt Mr. McGillicuddy next year, as he wouldn't be available until the last couple weeks of February. No reason to waste a season of eligibility in street clothes, and play the last 2 weeks, plus the postseason.

We are very close to winding down the regular season, with only a few games this week, and only 3 key games to speak of.
Key Games and Performances
March 2 -- Miami could have very well assured themselves of a postseason berth of some sort with a stunning 91-72 upset over #6 North Carolina.
March 2 -- It wasn't the best week for #22 Oklahoma St., who fell out of the rankings after this loss to #23 Missouri, who beat them handily, 89-62.
Schaplowsky did score 9 points, but 4 of those were from the free throw line.
March 5 -- It was an even worse week for #18 Ohio St., who lost both their games, including the 84-69 loss to #5 Michigan St. Elkin scored 10 points and had 3 assists.
Individual Details
SG Mike Schaplowsky -- 9 points on just 2-7 shooting @ #23 Missouri(L 89-62); 7 points on 3-6 shooting @ Nebraska(W 74-55)
SG Kyle Kappe -- no games this week for Kyle and California
SF Larry Mcgillicuddy -- was Miami's biggest fan in their 91-72 win over #6 North Carolina, in their only game of the week.
SG Brian Butts -- 22 points and 5 assists vs. Wyoming(W 86-69); 12 points and 7-8 shooting from FT line @ Wyoming(W 78-76)
PG Travis Elkin -- 11 points and no assists vs. Purdue(L 80-75); 10 points and 3 assists vs. #5 Michigan St.(L 84-69)
SG Sunny Verma -- only picked up 1 rebound in 5 minutes @ Georgetown(W 89-56)
SF Jeff Nights -- no games this week for Jeff and UCLA
Only 2 teams are ranked this week, as Syracuse stays at #2 and UCLA moves to #12. While Ohio St. lost all their votes, Oklahoma St. was still able to salvage 12 votes.
New Mexico is listed 13th in the bubble watch for this final week of the regular season, as they have a record of 17-13, and their RPI is 53. They do have 4 quality wins: 2 against Wyoming, 1 against Utah St., and 1 against Utah, but they are still projected out of the NCAA Tournament.

NBA and Assistant Coach news-
Bryce Good continues to be an NBA free agent as the month of February comes to a close. I hate to say I told you so, but......
Nothing much to report for scouting director Jonathan Sanders and his UTEP Miners, as they posted a 6-4 record in February and the first week of March. Some of their quality wins were at SMU (20-10), Memphis (16-12), and Marshall (18-10). The Miners will be the 8th seed in the Conference USA Tournament, taking on Central Florida in the first round.
Only 3 more games before all the conference tournaments get into effect for our recruits and their respective teams. Let's take a look at those games.
March 9 -- Miami made it a sweep through North Carolina, as they defeated N.C. State 89-76.
March 9 -- Another nice game for Schaplowsky, who had 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists against Iowa St. The Cyclones won the big battle though, defeating Oklahoma St. 81-80 in a thriller of a game.
March 9 -- There would be no upset tonight, as #3 Illinois broke open a close game in the second half to roll over Ohio St. 92-57. Elkin has really stepped up his scoring, as he had 14 points on 4-6 shooting and 4-4 from the line.
So here is how our respective teams stack up in their conference tournaments.
Oklahoma St.(Schaplowsky) -- The Cowboys picked up the #3 seed in the Big 12 Tournament, where they will get a bye into the quarterfinals, as they will take on the winner between (6) Iowa St. and (11) Texas A&M.
California(Kappe) -- The Golden Bears, who had a nice start to the season, will be the #6 seed in the Pac Ten Tournament, taking on (3) Oregon in the first round.
Miami(McGillicuddy) -- The Hurricanes will be the #6 seed in the ACC Tournament, taking on (3) Virginia in the first round.
New Mexico(Butts) -- The Lobos earn the #3 seed in the Mountain West Tournament, earning a rematch from the other day with (6) Colorado St.
Ohio St.(Elkin) -- The Buckeyes could be set up for a rubber match with Illinois, as they are the #5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, taking on (4) Iowa in the first round. If they win that game, they would advance to the semifinals where their likely opponent would be (1) Illinois.
Syracuse(Verma) -- No big shock here, as Syracuse will be the #1 seed in the Big East Tournament, and they will take on (8) St. Johns in the quarterfinals. St. Johns already beat (9) South Florida to advance.
UCLA(Nights) -- The Bruins gather up the #1 seed in the Pac Ten Tournament, taking on (8) Washington in the first round.

March 10th 2005
Conference Tournament Quarterfinals
Pac Ten
(8) Washington vs. (1) #12 UCLA -- The Bruins used a 51-33 rebounding edge to jump out against Washington and cruise to the semifinals with a 78-61 win. Nights only played 4 minutes, but hit 3-4 from the field for 6 points.
(6) California vs. (3) Oregon -- Cal's season came to an end tonight with a 77-76 loss to higher seeded Oregon. It was a great game throughout, a game that Cal might have won had they gotten more out of Kappe. He never could get into the game, sidelined with foul trouble all game. He played 14 minutes and scored just 3 points before fouling out.
Mountain West
(6) Colorado St. vs. (3) New Mexico -- For the second time in a matter of days, the Rams took it to the Lobos, but this one was the most important. Colorado St. won 87-80, which probably knocked the Lobos out of NCAA contention, leaving them a good bet for the NIT. Butts was the leading scorer for New Mexico, finishing with 18.
Big East
(8) St. Johns vs. (1) #2 Syracuse -- You have to give St. Johns credit tonight, as they showed no fear and played an even first half with the 2nd ranked Orange. The second half was pretty even also, but a 41-28 rebounding edge allowed Syrcause to escape with an 84-77 victory. Verma played 8 minutes tonight, scoring 5 points.
Also, Jonathan Sanders had another impressive scouting performance tonight, as (8) UTEP pressed (1) Southern Miss into 19 turnovers, as the Miners pulled the 85-82 upset, advancing to the semifinals of Conference USA, and keeping their postseason hopes alive.

Conference Tournament Quarterfinals
Big Twelve
(11) Texas A&M vs. (3) Oklahoma St. -- Texas A&M was looking for another upset after defeating Iowa St. in the 1st Round, but the Cowboys would have none of it, taking out A&M 82-61. Schaplowsky played 5 minutes, and hit a two pointer and a three pointer for 5 points.
ACC
(6) Miami vs. (3) Virginia -- The Hurricanes probably played their way into the NCAA Tournament with a 100-77 win over Virginia, as they forced 23 VA turnovers, as McGillicuddy continued to watch from the bench.
Big Ten
(5) Ohio St. vs. (4) #21 Iowa -- This was a great game, which was won at the free throw line, as Ohio St. hit 8 more free throws than the Hawkeyes, including 2 late for a 75-74 victory. While Elkin didn't score much, only getting 3 points, he did dish out 6 assists.
Conference Tournament Semifinals
Pac Ten
(5) #14 Arizona vs. (1) #12 UCLA -- This one wasn't even close, as the Wildcats rolled to a 47-33 halftime lead while outrebounding UCLA 43-26. They ended up winning 88-69. Because of foul trouble, Nights saw 20 minutes of action tonight, scoring 7 points.
Big East
(5) Georgetown vs. (1) #2 Syracuse -- In what was expected to be a pretty good battle, the Orange held the Hoyas to 29.4% shooting while cruising to a 78-57 victory. They will face UConn in the Big East Championship game. Verma missed his only shot in 7 minutes of action.
As for Sanders and UTEP, it looks like they will be heading somewhere in the postseason, as they pulled another upset tonight, beating (4) Tulsa 71-69. They will now play (2) SMU in the Conference USA Championship.

Conference Tournament Semifinals
ACC
(6) Miami vs. (2) #10 Maryland -- The Hurricanes are definitely playing their best basketball right now, as they forced 29 Maryland turnovers and held the Terps to just 16 second half points in an easy 65-43 victory. They will meet the (1) Duke Blue Devils in the ACC Championship.
Big Ten
(5) Ohio St. vs. (1) #3 Illinois -- It appears that the first meeting between these two teams was a fluke, as Illinois has pounded Ohio St. the last 2 games, including a 104-76 victory tonight. It was a tough night for Elkin as well, as he only played 17 minutes because of foul trouble, and scored 4 points.
Big Twelve
(3) Oklahoma St. vs. (2) #13 Texas -- The Cowboys gave Texas all they wanted, but Texas had a little deeper bench which proved to be the difference as Texas won 69-64. Schaplowsky played 14 minutes tonight, only scoring 4 points.
Conference Tournament Championships
Big East
(2) #6 UConn vs. (1) #2 Syracuse -- This was another great matchup, as it was nip and tuck most of the way, but UConn had a little more than the Orange tonight as they won 62-56. Verma played 5 minutes and did not get his name into the scorebook with any stats.
The magical run ended for UTEP, as they were defeated by SMU in the Conference USA Championship game, 69-55. More than likely the Miners will be in the NIT.

Postseason for our Recruits and Teams
4 of our teams made the NCAA Tournament:
Ohio St.- #6 Midwest Region
Oklahoma St.- #6 South Region
Syracuse- #1 East Region
UCLA- #4 East Region
2 teams made the NIT:
Miami- #2 West Region
New Mexico- #6 South Region
Not surprisingly, Cal and Kyle Kappe will be sitting at home this postseason, but I'm a little surprised and dissapointed to announce that Jonathan Sanders and the UTEP Miners were kept out of the postseason. It's hard to believe they couldn't even get an NIT bid.
The reports from the first couple rounds of the tournaments will probably come later tonight, or tomorrow.

RJolley- Florida is the #2 seed in the South Region, behind #1 seed Duke.
NIT First Round
South Region -- (6) New Mexico @ (3) UL-Lafayette -- The Lobos got off to a blazing start, shooting 54.1% from the field in a 98-86 victory. Butts had a solid all-around game, scoring 20 points, grabbing 6 boards, and getting 5 assists.
West Region -- (7) LSU @ (2) Miami -- The Hurricanes, who are playing without the services of McGillicuddy, advanced to the second round with an 84-72 victory over the Tigers. Miami was 5-9 from three point land, which made a big difference in the game.
NCAA First Round
Midwest Region -- (11) Pepperdine vs. (6) Ohio St. -- The Buckeyes outrebounding Pepperdine by 15, as they didn't play their best game of the season but held on to win 75-61. While Elkin missed all 4 of his shots and didn't score, he did contribute with 4 rebounds and 5 assists.
East Region -- (16) Valparaiso vs. (1) #5 Syracuse -- The Orange had no trouble with this first round game, scoring almost as many points in the first half than Valpo did in the entire game. Syracuse led 43-19 at halftime and won 95-45. They committed 24 turnovers while giving up just 3. Verma did see 10 minutes of action and scored 7 points.
South Region -- (11) Oklahoma vs. (6) Oklahoma St. -- The Cowboys won this battle of conference foes, but it certainly wasn't an easy win. Oklahoma St. was down by 10 early in the second half, but came back to win 71-64. Schaplowsky played 6 minutes and hit both his shots for 2 points.
East Region -- (13) Troy St. vs. (4) #21 UCLA -- This game was close for a while, but the Bruins extended the lead to 10 at halftime and won 90-56. Nights saw 2 minutes of mop-up duty tonight, something he's not pleased with.
NIT Second Round
South Region -- (6) New Mexico @ (2) Wisconsin -- This was a classic game, as the Lobos needed OT to knock off Wisconsin. Butts scored 16 points in the victory, but only made 1-6 free throws.
West Region -- (3) Miami @ (2) Indiana St. -- Miami continues to stay hot down the stretch, as they got a 22 point rebounding effort from Gary Hamilton. McGillicuddy continues to impress as a cheerleader, as the Canes won 73-60.
NCAA Second Round
Midwest Region -- (6) Ohio St. vs. (3) #10 Kansas -- This was a pretty good game all the way, but The Buckeyes ended their season with a 74-66 loss to KU. Elkin had 4 points and 2 assists.
East Region -- (9) Iowa vs. (1) #5 Syracuse -- Another easy win for the Orange, as they led by 9 at halftime and won 71-56. Verma played 7 minutes but missed his only 2 shots.
South Region -- (6) Oklahoma St. vs. (3) #6 Arizona -- It was a dissapointing end to the season for the Cowboys, as they just didn't show up tonight. They played decent in the first half, trailing by 13 at halftime, but they ended up losing 96-65. Schaplowsky played 9 minutes and scored 9 points, and had 4 assists.
East region -- (5) #18 Temple vs. (4) #21 UCLA -- UCLA played a strong first half, only trailing by 4 at halftime. The second half saw Temple take control with a 75-60 victory. Nights was not a factor, scoring 4 points in 6 minutes of action.

NIT Quarterfinals
South Region -- (6) New Mexico @ (1) Tulsa -- The Lobos held Tulsa to just 34.5% shooting as they advanced to Madison Square Garden for the NIT Semifinals, defeating the Golden Hurricane 75-64. It was another solid effort for Butts, who scored 16 points and pulled down 6 rebounds.
West Region -- (2) Miami @ (4) Seton Hall -- The Hurricanes rolled to an easy victory over Seton Hall, beating their former Big East rivals 96-71. The shooting was unbelievable, as Miami shot 60% from the field. Wow!
NCAA Sweet Sixteen
East Region -- (5) #18 Temple vs. (1) #5 Syracuse -- When you hold teams to just 33.3% shooting, you're more likely to win games, and that's what happened tonight, as the Orange beat the Owls 74-58 to advance to the Elite Eight. Verma scored 2 points and had 2 assists in 6 minutes of action.
NCAA Elite Eight
East Region -- (3) #8 North Carolina vs. (1) #5 Syracuse -- This was just a fabulous basketball game to watch tonight, as neither team wanted their season to come to an end. In fact, it took an extra 5 minutes to solve this game, but the Orange finally prevailed 99-96 to advance to the Final Four! Not that you can read to much into it because of lack of minutes and shots, but Verma was perfect shooting tonight, going 1-1 from the field and 2-2 from the line for 4 points.
NIT Final Four
Miami vs. Georgia Tech -- This was the rubber match between these 2 ACC teams, and it was a thriller. The Hurricanes held off a late G-Tech charge to advance to the NIT Championship with an 88-86 victory!
Princeton vs. New Mexico -- Somebody forgot to tell the Lobos that their were supposed to bring their basketball skills to MSG, as they only shot 37% from the field, and got their butts handed to them, 92-68. Butts fouled out tonight, but did score 14 points while playing 26 minutes.
NIT Consolation
Georgia Tech vs. New Mexico -- Once again the Lobos forgot to show up. While their shooting was respectable, they let G-Tech score 106 points and shoot 53.6% from the field. The Lobos can take some satisfaction in finishing 4th in a postseason tournament however. Butts can also take some satisfaction in a solid freshman season, and he led the team tonight with 22 points.
NIT Championship
Miami vs. Princeton -- What a way to end the NIT, as we had a nip and tuck game all night long. The lead changed about 15 times tonight, and once again, it took an extra 5 minutes. But McGillicuddy and his Miami Hurricanes are the 2005 NIT Champions with a 106-105 victory!
NCAA National Semifinal
#2 Illinois vs. #5 Syracuse -- Another thrilling college basketball game, as the Orange took a 10 point lead into the locker room, then let Illinois come all the way back. A bucket with 2 seconds left propelled the Orange into the national championship game however, as they won 79-77. Verma hit his only shot attempt tonight, a three pointer.
NCAA Championship
#5 Syracuse vs. #16 Maryland -- The Orange were the favorites in this one, and they didn't dissapoint as they took a 13 point halftime lead and won the national championship by a score of 76-61. Verma scored 3 points in 4 minutes of action.

Only 3 of our recruits got awards, as Travis Elkin was named the Big Ten Freshman of the year, Brian Butts was the Mountain West Freshman of the Year, and Kyle Kappe was the Pac Ten Freshman of the Year. Congratulations to you guys.
Well guys, this wraps up season #1 of this interactive dynasty, and now is when I ask for feedback. How do you guys like this dynasty report? Is there something that you think I could do different? Add to the report? Take out of the report? Your feedback is wanted and appreciated, as it will help me to decide if I make any changes to this report. I do enjoy doing this for you guys, although next season could be time consuming since I'll be tracking the results and stats for 15 players instead of 7. Anyways, give me feedback please!

As expected, Bryce Good decided he didn't want to be a free agent this year, so he has went overseas. Good luck to him. (I couldn't find his name anywhere when I went to the edit current league, so I just assume he's been taken off for whatever reason. If he reappears, I'll pop him back in the game.)
Assistant Coach: Jonathan Sanders
Once again Jonathan is moving teams, this time going to BYU to be the lead scout. He has a chance to make New Mexico and Brian Butts' life a living hell for the next 3 years, or however long he chooses to stay.
Let's take a look now at how our 7 teams did that picked up our elite eight recruits from last year.
Florida- The Gators picked up both Coy Childress and Rick Jolley, as they finished 29-6 last season, but saw an early exit from the NCAA Tournament, as they were bounced in the second round.
Stanford- The Cardinal finished 21-12, and lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. JeeberD Mack will be eagerly awaiting his time there.
Kentucky- The Wildcats picked up Deke Prosser. They were 28-10 last season, with a loss in the sweet sixteen.
Arkansas- Sean Treacy will be going to a Razorback team that had a tough season, finishing 15-16 overall, and not making the postseason.
UConn- UConn signed Dylan Airhart, as they were 29-7 and lost in the sweet sixteen last year.
Maryland- The Terps signed Danny Wilson, as they were 31-8, and lost in the National Championship game to Sunny Verma's Syracuse squad.
Oregon- The Ducks had a nice postseason run, finishing 23-11, but making it all the way to the Elite Eight. Rob Nielsen will be going here.

There are 3 recruits this year, only 3. I WILL NOT be accepting anymore recruits until further notice, so DO NOT send me any recruit information. I'll have 18 players to track next season, and that's more than enough. Let's just take a quick glance at these recruits.
SG Colton Mayes (6-6, 225, Desert Mountain HS, Scottsdale, AZ) - ranked #3 in nation.
Top 5 Schools: Kansas, Illinois, Michigan St., Syracuse, Stanford
Scouting Report: Colton is having a tremendous senior year thus far, averaging 20 points and 6 rebounds a game. He is a strong shooter all-around, but his main weakness is defense, as he gets burned a lot. He has talked about going to the NBA, but I think it would be a bit of a mistake. While he would probably get on with a team and earn a few minutes, he can do much better in college.
PG A.J. Tucker (6-2, 185, City HS, Iowa City, IA) - #32
Top 5 Schools: Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Indiana, Texas
Scouting Report: A.J. is an above average player, with lots of room for potential. Right now he's only averaging 8 points and 3.8 assists a game, and also 3.1 turnovers a game. He's got to work on taking better care of the ball. He has the potential to do it.
PG Patrick Kelley (6-5, 200, DuPont Manual HS, Louisville, KY) - #17
Top 5 Schools: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Duke, Tulsa
Scouting Report: While Patrick is averaging 13.5 ppg, he is only shooting 9.7% from three point range. He has got to work on his shooting more if he is to be an effective college player. Defensively he seems to be very solid, as he comes up with 3.1 steals a game. He just needs to hit the gym and take about 50 three pointers a day.

Nov. 2004:
Good news as all three of our eligible recruits this year have already signed, and let me tell you, there are a couple big surprises in there. Also, none of our recruits declared for the NBA draft, as have none of our current college players that were recruited. Looks like everybody is gonna do the college thing next year. Now, let's get to our recruits.
SG Colton Mayes(GA)
The Missouri Tigers weren't even on Colton's top 5 list at first check, but they recruited him, offered him visits, and offered him a scholarship, which proved to be the difference. Colton will be a Missouri Tiger next year. "I wanted to either play in the Big Ten or the Big Twelve, and Missouri kept impressing me the more I talked with them, so I decided it was a good fit."
PG A.J. Tucker(IA)
This is no big surprise here, as A.J. will be staying home for college, as he inked with the Iowa Hawkeyes. "I wanted to be close to home, right in Big Ten country. I couldn't think of passing up Iowa's scholarship offer. This way I can still hang out with all my friends and stuff."
PG Patrick Kelley(KY)
Patrick's shooting woes seemed to be more of a problem than we realized, as none of his top schools wanted to take a chance on him. "I was pretty much told by Duke and Tulsa that I wouldn't play next year, and Indiana and Iowa didn't offer me a schollie. There is one school that grabbed my attention though." What school is it? Well, it's a school that is not in a power conference, barely even a mid-major conference. You stumped yet? Well, you'll be as shocked as I was when I tell you that Patrick signed with the Creighton Bluejays. Creighton?? Are you serious Patrick?? "Well hey, they aren't that bad of a school, they have a history of going to the NCAA Tournament, and sometimes they even pull an upset. Doesn't seem like that long ago they went to the Sweet Sixteen. Hopefully I can take them back there again."

2005-06 Season Preview
Depth Charts
First the big news, as SF Larry McGillicuddy is still 3 months away from recovering from his ACL injury, which means he wouldn't be back until February. Miami didn't want him to waste almost a full season and not be able to play, or even suit up, so they've granted Larry's request to be redshirted. So Larry, you got your wish. I'll still follow your team this year just so you know how they are doing. Now, onto the other 14 players.
Sean Treacy (Arkansas) - 5th off the bench, but should see decent action.
Kyle Kappe (California) - Starting SG
Dylan Airhart (UConn) - 4th off the bench, probably won't play much this year
Rick Jolley (Florida) - 1st off the bench
Coy Childress (Florida) - 9th off the bench, probably won't play much this yr
Deke Prosser (Kentucky) - 1st off the bench
Danny Wilson (Maryland) - 3rd off the bench
Brian Butts (New Mexico) - Starting SG
Travis Elkin (Ohio St.) - Starting PG

Rob Nielsen (Oregon) - Going out of his role to start at SG

Coaches Invitational
1st round
#10 Syracuse vs. S.C. State -- This game was a rout, as the Orange led by 24 at the half, and capitalized on 23 S.C. State turnovers to win 71-45, advancing to the quarterfinals. In his first start, Verma was impressive, scoring 10 points and pulling down 4 rebounds.
#2 UConn vs. Rider -- The Huskies held Rider to just 30% shooting as they rolled to a 75-46 victory. It was not a very good debut for Airhart however, as he only played 9 minutes and did not contribute.
Miami vs. Nebraska -- The Hurricanes, playing this whole season without McGillicuddy, didn't let that stop them as they advanced to the quarterfinals with a tough 75-66 victory.
Quarterfinals
#10 Syracuse vs. Mississippi St. -- A slow start cost the Orange tonight, as they committed 19 turnovers and trailed by 15 at halftime, ultimately losing 87-75. Verma scored 8 points and grabbed 4 boards.
#2 UConn vs. Auburn -- The Huskies continued to roll early on, shooting 51% from the field ans outrebounding Auburn 55-27 in a dominating 98-64 victory. Airhart managed to score his first points in his college career, picking up a late basket. Those were his only points of the game in 10 minutes.
#23 Oklahoma vs. Miami -- It could be a long season for the Hurricanes without Mcgillicuddy, as they failed to find any significant leadership on the court tonight. They scored only 14 points in the second half, and lost 80-52.
Semifinals
#2 UConn vs. Louisville -- The Huskies haven't been tested yet in 2 games. Well, make it 3 after tonight as they dominated the Cardinals 92-59. They shot an unbelivable 58.6% from the field tonight, and had only 7 turnovers all game. Airhart played 11 minutes tonight, and had a season high 5 points. He also had 4 assists with only 1 turnover.
Championship
#2 Uconn vs. Mississippi St. -- UConn was tested tonight by an upset minded Bulldogs team. They led by only 1 at the half, but hit a couple big buckets late to pull away, as they won the Coaches Classic by a 64-56 margin. Airhart continues to impress with his ball handling, again dishing out 4 assists, with no turnovers in 13 minutes tonight.
2 other freshmen made their debuts tonight, as Stanford took on Iowa St., and Kentucky played Tulsa.
Iowa St. @ Stanford -- Stanford scored 61 first half points, and it's a good thing they did, because they followed that up with 28 second half points. It was more than enough however, as they rolled to an 89-68 victory. JeeberD Mack had an unimpressive debut, playing 10 minutes but only grabbing 1 rebound.
Kentucky @ Tulsa -- The Hurricanes led by 10 at halftime, then got some big breaks in the second half to upset Kentucky 71-67. Deke Prosser did play 16 minutes, but only scored 1 point and picked up 3 fouls.

Guys, I'm doing this next week in 2 different posts, because there are 4 tournaments going on this week, with recruited players and teams in all of them. So in this first post I'm going to be doing the Maui Shootout and the Las Vegas Invitational.
Nov. 21, 2005
2005 Maui Invitational
Kentucky vs. Dayton -- The Wildcats had no trouble with this first round game, shooting 60.3% and jumping out to a 63-28 halftime lead. Prosser scored 5 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.
#6 Utah vs. New Mexico -- The Lobos could never really get into this game, shooting just 25%, and scoring only 17 first half points. They eventually fell 68-40. Butts scored 15 points in the losing effort.
2005 Las Vegas Invitational
#5 UCLA vs. Butler -- The Bruins outrebounded Butler 54-28 and broke open a 7 point halftime lead to win going away, 79-51. Nights did not play tonight, as he is still recovering from a bruised hip he suffered last week.
Oklahoma St. vs. Delaware -- The Cowboys were a perfect 20-20 from the free throw line tonight, and were never tested as they won 94-64. Schaplowsky had by far his best game ever, going 12-20 from the field, 7-7 from the line, and 4-10 from three point land. He finished with 35 points and 5 boards.
#10 Indiana vs. California -- The Golden Bears gave a solid effort tonight, but couldn't overcome a 14 point halftime deficit as they lost 96-86. Kappe had 12 points and 6 assists in the losing effort.
Nov. 22, 2005
2005 Maui Invitational
Kentucky vs. Memphis -- The Tigers proved to be a tough foe tonight, but eventually Kentucky held on for the 81-77 victory. Prosser was 4-5 from the line tonight and scored 6 points.
New Mexico vs. TCU -- This was a great game tonight, as the Lobos had a 4 point halftime lead, and they held on for a 68-66 victory. Butts had 11 points tonight.
2005 Las Vegas Invitational
#5 UCLA vs. #4 Wake Forest -- In a game between top 5 teams, the Bruins used a 41-29 rebounding edge to advance to the championship game with a tough 71-64 victory. Once again, Nights did not play.
#10 Indiana vs. Oklahoma St. -- The Cowboys did everything they could to win this game, including forcing 14 IU turnovers, but the Hoosiers were just too strong, as they held on for an 82-80 victory. Schaplowsky had another outstanding effort, scoring 23 points on 8-17 shooting.
Delaware vs. California -- In a shocking loss, the Golden Bears will be playing in the 7th place game tomorrow after being beaten tonight by a score of 80-78. Even the strong play of Kappe couldn't help, as he scored 26 points and had 7 assists.
Nov. 23, 2005
2005 Maui Invitational
Kentucky vs. #20 Illinois -- The Wildcats rolled to the Maui Invitational championship with a 93-85 win over the Illini. Prosser did not score in his 14 minutes of action, but did pull down 4 boards.
BYU vs. New Mexico -- The Lobos ended up taking 6th in the tournament after being blasted 78-51 by BYU. Butts could only manage 10 points of 4-16 shooting, but did grab 6 boards.
2005 Las Vegas Invitational
#10 Indiana vs. #5 UCLA -- Indiana was clearly the better team tonight, coming back from a 2 point halftime deficit to win 88-73. Nights returned to action and played 12 minutes, going just 1-6 from the field. His only basket made was a three pointer for his only 3 points of the night.
#4 Wake Forest vs. Oklahoma St. -- The Cowboys clearly showed they don't belong in the rankings yet, losing 77-55 to Wake, and gathering 4th place in the Invitational. Schaplowsky went 7-11 from the field, scoring 16 points.
California vs. Pepperdine -- Everything turned out ok, as the Golden Bears salvaged 7th place in the tournament. They beat Pepperdine 78-53. Kappe scored 18 points, grabbed 4 boards, and had 5 assists.

Nov. 22nd
2005 Preseason NIT
1st Round
#1 Florida vs. Texas A&M -- The Gators opened up the Preseason NIT with a solid 87-62 victory to advance to the quarterfinals. Jolley scored 6 points and had 3 rebounds, whileChildress is still looking for his first action of the season.
#22 Stanford vs. Niagara -- This is a game that was much, much closer than expected. In fact, Niagara had a 2 point halftime lead, and outshot the Cardinal 52% to 47.4%. The difference was in the rebounding edge, where Stanford had 47 rebounds to just 22 for Niagara. Mack had a pretty solid effort, scoring 8 points and pulling down 7 rebounds.
Nov. 23rd
2005 Great Alaska Shootout
#11 Maryland vs. Richmond -- The Terps had no trouble in this first round matchup, disposing of Richmond by a 98-49 score. Wilson wasn't very productive tonight, scoring 1 point with 2 rebounds in 13 minutes.
Nov. 24th
2005 Preseason NIT
#1 Florida vs. Hofstra -- Florida continued to roll, holding the Pride to just 28% shooting from the field in an 85-50 win. Jolley hit his only shot attempt for his 2 points, and also had 2 rebounds, while Childress again stayed on the end of the bench the whole game.
#22 Stanford vs. Mississippi -- A much better game for the Cardinal, as they forced 23 turnovers and had a 30 point halftime lead, cruising to an easy 99-57 victory. Mack was 3-3 from the field and 1-1 from the line for 7 points in the victory.
Nov. 25th
2005 Great Alaska Shootout
#11 Maryland vs. #16 Iowa -- The Hawkeyes just couldn't get started in this one, scoring only 19 first half points, as Maryland moves to the championship game with a 68-55 victory. Wilson hit 2 free throws for his only 2 points, and also had 3 rebounds.
Nov. 26th
2005 Great Alaska Shootout
#11 Maryland vs. #13 Michigan St. -- The Terps are getting a great look at the Big Ten early, as they battled another Big Ten foe in the championship game. Surprisingly, this was an easy victory for Maryland, as they held the Spartans to just 26 first half points in the 96-72 win, giving them the Great Alaska Shootout championship. Wilson didn't score, but did pull down 4 boards.
Other games this week
Nov. 22 -- Syracuse got back on the winning track, holding off #9 Alabama 63-62. Verma didn't have his greatest game, scoring only 6 points. He did pull down 4 boards however.
Nov. 22 -- Miami was very consistent tonight in the 64-52 win against Georgia, holding a 10-15 point lead most of the game. McGillicuddy stayed at home and did not make the trip to UGA.
Nov. 26 -- Treacy had 5 points and 4 boards as Arkansas blasted Southern 87-45.
Nov. 26 -- #2 UConn continued their hot tear, winning easily against Army, 112-52. Airhart scored 5 points and had 4 assists in 8 minutes.
Nov. 27 -- An an in-state battle, California made Cal Poly look like a high school team tonight, winning 88-33. Kappe scored 11 of his 21 points from the free throw line, and also added 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Nov. 27 -- #17 Tennessee went down at the hands of Oklahoma St. tonight, but the Cowboys had to overcome a 9 point deficit to do it. Schaplowsky continues to have the hot hand, scoring 17 points on 6-9 from the field and 4-4 from the line.
The Top 25 polls continue to be dominated by our recruits and respective teams. Florida remains #1, followed by UConn at #2. Maryland moves up to 5th and Stanford moves up to 10th, while UCLA drops to 11th and Ohio St. to 12th. Arkansas, Oregon, and Syracuse all enter the rankings, with Oregon 19th, Arkansas 24th, and Syracuse 25th. California is honorable mention with 44 votes.

Nov. 30
2005 Preseason NIT
#1 Florida vs. #10 Stanford -- These 2 teams met in the semifinals of the Preseason NIT, and the Gators broke open a 3 point halftime lead to advance to the championship game with an 84-63 win. It was a game to forget for Mack, who played only 3 minutes before fouling out. Childress remained on the bench the whole game, while Jolley spent most of his 10 minutes at the free throw line, where he made 9-10 FT and ended up with 13 points.
Dec. 2
2005 Preseason NIT
#1 Florida vs. #4 Arizona -- This was a classic battle, as neither team wanted to lose. Both teams had their shooting woes, but 20 turnovers by the Gators did them in, as they lost 62-59. Once again Childress made a home on the bench, and Jolley might as well have done the same, as he played 13 minutes, didn't attempt a shot, and missed his only 2 free throws.
Other Key Games and Performances
Nov. 28 -- In another evenly matched game, #11 UCLA shot just a little bit better than Kentucky, as they beat the Wildcats 75-71. Prosser scored 2 points in 15 minutes for Kentucky, while Nights had a great game, scoring 16 points, grabbing 5 boards, and getting 3 assists.
Nov. 29 -- This was a battle of 2 of our top recruited SG, but neither the individual or the team battle were impressive, as California beat New Mexico 103-83. Neither SG was overly impressive, as Butts had 11 points and 5 assists, while Kappe had 11 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
Dec. 1 -- Butts made up for his average effort against Cal with a 24 point effort on 8-16 from the field and 7-8 from the line as New Mexico kept Air Force winless, 93-81.
Dec. 2 -- Schaplowsky was unstoppable tonight, as he went 9-16 from the field and 9-10 from the line, along with 4-8 3P, finishing with a career high 31 points. It helped Oklahoma St. to a 104-89 victory over #24 Arkansas. Treacy scored 4 points and had 3 rebounds in 12 minutes for Arkansas.

SG Mike Schaplowsky -- a career high 31 points on 9-16 from the field and 9-10 from the line vs. #24 Arkansas(W 104-89); 15 points, 3-6 three pointers vs. #4 Arizona(L 70-54)
PG Rob Nielsen -- 12 points on 5-8 shooting vs. Tulane(L 86-82); 9 points, 3 turnovers vs. South Alabama(W 85-52)

Some minor injuries to tell you about, as SG Kyle Kappe dislocated his finger. He will be healed in about 4 days, and will still play. PG Dylan Airhart might not play though, as he sprained his wrist. He's listed as day to day, but is not expected to recover for a week or 2.
Jonathan Sanders: Assistant Coach
Jonathan and the BYU Cougars posted a 4-2 record in November, narrowly losing to Memphis and Ohio St. You've got to give him credit for his scouting though, as BYU held Brian Butts to just 10 points on 4-16 shooting as they hammered the Lobos.
There are 8 of our teams in the top 25 this week, as UConn remains #2, Maryland moves to #3, Florida drops to 4th, UCLA moves to 7th, Ohio St. is #9, Syracuse makes a huge jump up to #14, while Stanford has the biggest drop of the week, down to #19. And California enters the rankings at #23.

Dec. 5-11
Key Games and Performances

I still haven't forgot about this dynasty guys, I'm just so busy right now with jobs, being sick, getting ready for a funeral, ugh. I'm still going to work on it, although I won't be able to give it as much time as I should. I'm hoping you guys with recruits aren't losing total interest because I haven't posted a lot lately. I will get back into it somehow soon. Thanks.

Guys, I'm thinking about starting up this dynasty report again. If I do, is there anybody still interested in reading about it? Give me some feedback please. Based on what you guys say or don't say, I'll decide whether it's worth the time or not. I would like to get back into it however.

Go ahead and keep going, Mike. :)
This is Jestor on the FBCB boards, by the way. Let me know when you open up recruits again so I can shoot myself in the mix, too. ;)

Being a huge fan of interactive dynasties, and having abandonded a couple I've attempted in the past, I both know how much effort they take...and love following em.

To the 3 that responded, thank you very much. I can't tell you exactly when I'll have another update. Coffee Warlord, you are exactly right. It does take a lot of effort, and can get quite stressful sometimes. But I owe it to all of the guys that have recruits playing to finish. Maybe tomorrow I can do another update, if not then it will be Sunday or Monday. Keep reading though fellas, I'll have one soon enough.

Guys, I have some very bad news for you. I was going to start working on this dynasty report again, so I went to open up the file, and it was corrupted! So basically guys, it's gone. for all you guys with recruits, I apologize greatly. I was looking forward to seeing how everybody did myself. I probably won't start another interactive dynasty, as like Rob said, they really do take a lot of work and time. What I may do, however, is start an interactive coaches dynasty. I would be the head coach of a team, and one of you guys could be my recruiting coordinator, and another could be my scouting director. Along with an assistant coach. I'm not sure if we could work that or not, with me being the only one able to see the game files. But it sounds like it could also be interesting. Let me know if you guys have any ideas about that. Once again, I apologize for the file corrpution.
